Lin personally thought that was kind of mean... even if they probably did deserve it... but it was still mean.

"Hmm.... I guess," she murmured, "I still say she needs to travel, someone should suggest that to her.. or your mom, I'm not sure how your dad would take it, but there has be someone better."

Well that's what Lin thought, but she did admit she was a bit curious as to who this suitor was.

"Why don't you say something over dinner?" Earendil suggested. "Ada can't get angry, not with Mother and Ninako there, and especially with Aunt Elnara and Uncle Lore. It would be perfect!"

And he of course could add his own opinions, and reasons to let her go - he just hoped that Tinuviel would appreciate their efforts.

Well someone was going to have to, Lin thought to herself and she did bring it up.

"Give me an opening to do so, and I will," Lin replied, "Otherwise even though we're doing it for Tinuviel, I don't think she would like it having brought up suddenly that she needs to get married."

Earendil chuckled softly and cracked his knuckles. "I would be glad to do just that," he winked down at Lin.

Just then they arrived at the guest rooms, and he motioned towards Lin's bed chamber. "Off you go now, and I'll see you at dinner again."

And leaving her to get ready on her own, he headed off towards his own chambers.

Lin slipped into her room, which looked like it had been lived in. It had been actually, by her, she was the only person who used this room. Making sure she washed the dust of the day off, she chose to wear a yukata or light kimono. It was her favourite anyways in terms of dress wear, it had white day lilies up the side and butterflies (a joke by Helen).

She ditched the stockings and sandals though, bare feet was normal and she wasn't going to wear footwear if she didn't need to. Lin decided this was all she needed before heading back out.

When Earendil emerged once more from his room, his hair was still sticking out all over the place, as it didn't seem to want to be combed at all that day, but he was indeed dressed nicely. Black pants and a pale blue spidersilk top, leather belt, and even a slim silver chain around his neck. He kept running his fingers through his hair, trying to flatten it down, or at least tame it, but no matter what he did it didn't seem to matter.

He was heading down the tower stairs when he heard a door open and close from the guest wing, and he backpedaled a few steps to peer out the tower door and spotted Lin just as she was coming out of her room.

"Nice timing," he grinned at her. "Heading down?"

"Yup," Lin smiled hearing Earendil's voice.

That had been perfect timing, she thought it would have taken her longer. She padded up to him, grinning well at least Tinuviel can't say he didn't dress up.

Earendil grinned at Lin. "Then let's head down together," he suggested, holding out his arm to escort her. "And if this isn't good enough for Tinuviel then too bad for her," he added. "It's the best I can do without going formal, which I hardly think is necessary."

Not to mention, if his family dressed formally when he visited, he would find it insulting.

Taking his arm, Lin couldn't help but grin at that, it was true there was no need to be formal around family, but they all probably wanted to make it extra special since they hardly got to see Lore and Elnara. Then again it could be said the same for any of the others who lived far away.

"Well from her point of view I guess better dress up for family rather than a suitor. It must be nice to dress up because you want to."

Not because someone you didn't like was visiting she add silently.

"True," Earendil mused as he led Lin towards the stairs once more. "I hadn't thought of it that way ... I suppose in a way I'm rather spoiled, I don't have to dress up for many occasions. Of course, the fact that I work up on the mountain, training, rather than doing duties inside the palace, might have something to do with it."

He grinned. He wasn't going to complain - he liked doing what he was doing, even if his family wanted him to be out more often.

Well personally speaking dressing up was rarely fun, though Lin had to 'dress up' for different reasons. Not all of it formal, some of it just for fun, it made her realized absently she was actually somewhat starting to care about what she wore.

"I don't doubt it, it would be impractical to wear anything fancy up on the mountain," Lin replied thoughtfully.

She didn't really have to think about where she was going, between having Earendil lead her and the fact she knew the way like the back of her hand, most of her mind was on observations and on the conversation.

"My uncle would prefer that I wear something showing my rank," Earendil shrugged, "but I don't see the point. Everyone knows me anyways, and we're just going to be training. Why wreck some perfectly good clothes that way?"

Not that it really mattered, since half the time he took his shirt off anyways. It was simply too hot to keep it on way up on the mountain.

That actually had surprised Lin, she didn't think Earendil's uncle would insist he wear something that showed his rank. At least, Lin was pretty sure she knew which uncle Earendil was talking about. Though on the understand Lin could understand why, sort of. She was sure Vincent had told her, but she was probably paying half attention at the time.

Lin shrugged, "I'm not going to disagree with that, and I guess there is no way to show rank unless it's something like... I don't know.. jewelery but that most of the time is equally impractical."

"Colours," Earendil nodded as they neared the Dining Hall. "Trainees wear teal, trainers red, royalty blue. Of course, quality of material is also considered, though the outfits themselves for training are basically the same."

He tried to remember if she had ever been up on the mountain with him since he himself had been a trainee ... to his knowledge, no ...

Lin thought about it carefully, the thing was... most of the time their shirts were off... except for Haradhel which was probably the only reason why Lin could recall a teal colour for the trainees. Actually now that she thought about it, she couldn't even ever recall seeing red.

"But that's just for the shirts right?" she inquired trying to remember.
