I have an ancient Neopets account sweatdrop I haven't logged into it in years. Errr... wait, that's not exactly true. I logged in about 6 months or so ago when someone told me it was very different now. So I logged in to look. And holy crap, it totally is different. In a bad way, imho. I quit about the time they added the giant ads to the top of the page so that I had to keep scrolling down a lot to see the actual site. They still have those. But now they've got lots of other weird stuff :-/ I don't like the large flashing ads, personally. Also don't like expiring decorations for pets. It'd be annoying as hell if suddenly all my Gaia gear started expiring after a couple of weeks and made me buy it over again and again and again. That's how I see it ninja
But my biggest dislikes? Rated G and art thievery. I had my art stolen a bazillion times there and didn't get a whole lot of support from the staff. Of course, they were swamped with art theft reports, I'm sure. But it doesn't change me being pissed that my art was stolen and was allowed to be kept stolen. Maybe they eventually removed the pieces. But not before I finally quit after a couple of years.

Hmm, have you tried Noscript there? Its an extension to firefox that blocks a lot of that stuff. I really like it.
I was on it for about a week around 6 months ago too, but quickly got bored (kinda like what I did here back in '04) but I doubt unless she can get her husband on it too that I'll bother.
Woo! I got sleep and I feel better now. All I have left is finals. *considers going to the bar to hang out with the prof...probably won't*

Oh wow, Neopets, it's so far away in my memories. XD
I quit a few months after joining, because they had started heavy advertising of plushies and things. I don't know if it was linked to an increase of ads at the top of pages as well, but I was troubled they were doing that kind of marketing on a children-oriented website. I also discovered Gaia around that time so my attention got swept away. XD

OMG, anyone else notice we represent most of the colors of the rainbow? Considering Calico as a shade of orange, we got blue (Tymbre), indigo (Koro), green (Burn), red (me)... where's our yellow and violet? We could take a screencap of the happy Y-gal Guild Rainbow gang! =D
