"As I said, there will be two hours until we go," Legion replied to Samuel. "They are your to do with as you wish. However, at least thirty minutes will be explaining what to do when Josh attacks. And Joe, that is probably good thinking. As I'm sure you know, Samuel, the more Gurul surfaces the less aware you are of your surroundings." He smiled at him, then turned to the others. "And you? Where would you like to attack?"

"I figure one of the colleges would be the most fun," Takeshi answered.

"And the rest of you?" Legion asked.

Aurelie's eyes lit up, a wide smile curving her lips. Apolline was talking ninety to nothing in her head about places to attack, but she was ignoring the excited chatter. Crossing her arms she thought about a place while Joe and Samuel answered. Her smile turned to grim excitement as she figured what she wanted to do.
"How about I shake up the newstation to get them all out and running, and tip them off about where everyone is going?? That way the news reporters could be there when we get started, to really get this going.
Then I could take out a police station. It would get lots of publicity, and I could let loose everyone in the jail there. Maybe blow up the building beside it too or something... What do you think Legion, Sir?"
Apolline had stopped to listen, and was laughing now, avidly likeing the idea.

Paul frowned. "I'm presuming, then, that most of those who made it were the preferred, while most of the rest didn't. So either Robert got incredibly lucky, or he's got something he's not telling me about."

I want you to tell me what you were going to say.

Why won't you just tell me?

Yes, actually, but since I don't care to fight with my head, I'll deal with it later.

Reaching down, Paul snatched the promised book out of his shadow. It was old, unmarked, and battered. Some appeared to have been partially burned; almost infinite stains marked the cloth coverings, and the paper itself was yellowed with age. "Alright. So what is it you want me to find?" Paul mused out loud, opening the book to a random page and beginning his search.

((I'm not talking to everyone and I hate to be pretentious/officious/supercilious/all those other '-ous-es,' but if some of you could please make positively certain you know connotations and usages of certain words, that would be lovely and simultaneously make my brain stop trying to crawl out of my ears, and I needz my brainz. K thanks! biggrin ))

"That's somewhere between fine and dandy," commented Siber, inwardly shaken. So that meant the Shadowmen had had ample opportunity- a fact he should have considered earlier- to kill them all already. And hadn't. Which meant either they were all pawns in some sick, twisted...

Siber refocused his suddenly slippery grip on the level-two. *ahem* As I was saying, they were either all just pawns, or they were facing an unusually merciful group of trained assassins, or they were at the whims of bothersomely insouciant forces who didn't care one way or the other.
I find the latter the most disturbing. Siber had not yet introduced himself to this dæmon. He found it's deep and guttural vocalization a rather unexpected occurrance.
OH MY FREAKING JESU- oh. It's you. Hi there; how's it hanging?
What, is that some sort of racial slur?
Say what? I can't even see what you look like.
I'm a Martyred Rusalka. Duh. I was hanged for no good reason? I levitate via a noose? Clearly, Siber was supposed to know this already.
That somehow does not seem conducive to survival.
You don't understand- I'm a creature feuled by vengeance.
On whom? I'm Siber, by the way- don't know if you knew that already.
Name's Rusalka. Of course. Some a** named Gurul. Another who went by Haschel when he hired me, but I think his name was Kel-
The voice went silent when Siber severed the link. Keldan, had he had eyes, would have instead had dinner plates.

Roland sighed.
Joe sighed. I think we can handle him if he loses control, Roland. I'm better trained for this kind of thing.
He raised a hand. "Legion, sir, is there some way that you could refresh us before we take off to fight? I was planning on filling up this mana cell that Takeshi gave me before we go." Joe held up the mana cell.

Alan stared at Paul.

"You tapped a shadow dimension," he stated, too stunned to explain. "How did you - it took me - I...." Alan stammered, shocked far too much to articulate the fact. He paused, collecting himself. "Robert, did you store a book in your shadow all that time ago just for this scenario?" he asked, hardly able to talk.

Robert answered.

~~

Legion chuckled. "Curb your enthusiasm, child. Might I remind you, even the Aegis spell forced Josh to pause when Takeshi fired one shotgun. Do you think you can take down a whole police station alone? Takeshi would be going with you, and you'd be using zombies; they're better against guns than a direct shield." He turned to Joe. "Give me four seconds to synchronize with you and I can charge it myself." In the promised four seconds, the small globe was flooded with a thick, inky smoke. "There'll be minor differences, but it'll work about as well." He drew himself up and took the face of a sneering Patton. "This would be our plan then. We're going to send anonymous, zombified tips to the news and police. Then, we eradicate the campus and students of either major college. Joe, your primary purpose will be to ensure the college attack doesn't end with Samuel getting jumped. And I should remind you, the police have snipers as well. Aurelie, Takeshi, that's where you two are coming in. You're going to be working support. Takeshi, the demon's fang you obtained should allow you to utilize the senses of a zombie with intact sensory organs if you need to. Learn how to." He turned to Ted. "And what would you want to do?"

"Robert says yes," Paul responded. "Says this is his journal. There's something in it he wants me to have. I can't say what, since he won't, but whatever. It's like he's scared of it or somethin- What? You are scared of it?" Paul furrowed his eyebrows. "Curious. Too frightened to say anything.

"And what is this shadow-dimension tapping or whatever? I take it it's hard to master."
PostPosted: Fri Nov 09, 2007 4:33 pm

"Tapping a shadow dimension is a very difficult task," Alan replied.
"It's how Alan and Kayla Shadowstep, and it's how most high-level Shadow mages store things. It typically takes four months to store a grain of rice intact. Ink and books are much more difficult because of the complexity maintaining of the text, Shadowstepping is a little easier because of them being able to provide their own magical protection directly for the very short duration of their movement. Robert, what exactly did you send?"

Paul looked suitably impressed. "And he managed to keep a diary there for a few centuries while he wasn't even capable of checking on it? Ah... I guess that kinda explains it, though," he added, opening to the first page. The odd little section of paper was very cleanly missing, and some ink had faded, but other than the first few pages, it seemed relatively intact, if aged. "Robert says... other than the diary, he put in... a dagger, just in case. That's all, according to him."
PostPosted: Fri Nov 09, 2007 5:11 pm

"No, no, not in the shadow dimension. What's in the book that he's fearing?" Alan clarified.

Joe held the mana cell and sighed. "Aww, I wanted to do it!" He grinned broadly. "Oh well. As long as it works for me. Thanks Legion." He stowed it away in a pouch on his belt.

Legion laughed at Joe.

"Filling it to this point, for you, would probably take a day or two," he explained.

Joe looked down, semi-ashamed. "Oh. I didn't realize it contained that much."

Legion laughed.

"Deceptive, isn't it?" he asked. "This provides power enough to recharge you easily four full times. And yet, it hardly looks like more than Takeshi's."

"How very practical, keeping a dagger around." Kayla grinned wryly. She already knew that Vassily had been incredibly powerful at one point, and assumed that his unique summonig techniques were what had made him so interesting to Legion. But lately, she had been wondering if there was some thing that had been overlooked. Vassily had once been a shaman, so he was deeply connected, or used to be at any rate, to the human world. That implied powers of a completley different sort from demon summoning. Apparently, she was thinking loudly because Vassily cut in.

Kayla nodded physically, then grinned in embarassment as she realized her slip. "Heh. I look like a delusional headbanger, don't I."
