"Enough! You have completed this endurance test. Please, take a breather while I stoke the fires again."

Kiyoshi sighed as he moved himself into a sitting position. His body ached, but he had completed the training for now. He was strong now, but not strong enough. He needed to find a way to get stronger quickly so that he could be at the top of his class tomorrow. No doubt they were already too far ahead of him, and he had to get it done at the same time as them. Or even better, he had to get done before them. Surely they wouldn't be that far ahead of him... right?

Matsumi snuck through the alleys of Konohagakure. The dark shirt, long sleeved shirt and her black pants allow her to blend with the shadows. Her blue hair was pinned and hidden underneath of the wool hat she had on, and she wore shoes that were padded on the soles; She had added the black cotton padding in hopes that it'd quiet her steps. Her eyes were dark red in the absence of sunlight, and that was just how she wanted them.

She already knew where she was going to break into, all that mattered was how to get there. Snorting, Matsumi let a thought slip through her focus. 'Curfew my a**.' She refused to be trapped in her home like some animal in it's cage. Her eyes darted back and forth, trying to see anything that posed a potential threat. If she was discovered, Her father would most likely murder her.

A bit of doubt wormed it's way into Matsumi's mind before she could extinguish it. 'What if they catch me? What will I do then?' She could think of nothing, but had come to far to turn back. 'I just won't get caught then.' Matsumi nodded, her resolve hardening. Erasing that last bit of doubt, she continued to make her way to the shop.

It was way too dark to even consider anything except going home! That was what Akio thought as he headed home from the academy at any rate. He held his ramen credit tickets in one hand and contemplated whether or not to use them, heading home as he thought. He supposed that if he hadn't decided to use the vouchers by the time he hit home, he probably wasn't hungry enough. Although his stomach protested with a resounding growl at that thought. Ramen? But curfew! Home? But hungry...

He passed through the familiar alleyways and got closer and closer to home, keeping his senses alert all the while. He'd use his ramen tickets some other time. His mother had probably prepared something for dinner.

(Sorry K, Chains' post is for her introduction to Yarotai more than actually sneaking about. Right idea though.)

Yarotai was mentally beating himself up for not keeping better track of time as he made his way through the Konoha streets. His hands were clasped casually behind his head. There were likely a couple of his students still making their way homes due to his error. He just hoped that none of them would get in too much trouble because of him. Though if they mentioned the name of their teacher most of the patrolling Jounin would probably just send them along without too much reprimand. A dock in his pay would definitely not come as a surprise in the following month.

As the young man rounded a corner into a side alley leading to his apartment he found his body running into something that normally wasn't there. Looking down the shinobi found a dark haired kid in all black clothing. The brown haired man of five foot eight inches took his left hand from his head and placed it down on the childs', more to check for a headband than anything else. His right hand also came out from behind his head down to his side by his kunai pouch instinctively. He wasted no time in addressing the object, "Um, excuse me. Who do we have here?"

Matsumi froze. She felt her heart begin to beat faster, and her vision began to blur. Everything went cold for a moment. Then she came back to herself slightly, preventing herself from fainting as she originally would. 'Speak calmly. Perhaps if I say it as if I am unafraid, he won't question my being here.' It was a ridiculous thought, and on some level Matsumi's mind probably recognized that, but it didn't stop her from trying. Breathing in deeply, she spoke.

"M-M-Matsumi."

She said the first part as almost a whisper, and her voice rose as she was saying the word as if she was growing in confidence. She realized she'd forgotten her surname, and blinked a couple of times, actually having to take a second to remember.

"Shitome M-Matsumi."

She cursed to herself in her head, actually hearing the wavering of her own voice. 'That wasn't believable at all. All I can do now is hope that he thinks I'm supposed to be out.' Deep down inside, however, Matsumi knew that she'd be caught.

Yarotai recognized the shakiness in the childs' voice as one of two things. Either she was a mischievous kid out sneaking around after dark, or she was a spy infiltrating the village. Given that she hadn't tried to pull a weapon on him or try to pull a tough guy routine, it seemed to favor the first option. The young man suppressed a loud chuckle that wanted to come out for fear of undermining his own authority. His right hand still stayed on his kunai pouch just for good measure as he took a half step back and removed his hand from her head. With the increased distance he leaned over slightly to get a better look at the girl. He spoke after a few quiet seconds of staring, "So Matsumi, accidentally fall asleep in the meadows? And now you're trying to sneak home so your parents don't find out?"

Matsumi was shocked for a moment, and her face reflected that. However, it was gone in an instant, as she refused to lose this chance. Straightening her features, she turned towards the person who'd caught her, and nodded.

"Y-Yes. M-My parents..."

Matsumi stopped speaking, knowing her fear was getting her nowhere. If she pulled this off, then she might survive upon her return home. 'Calm yourself... and just out with it.' Taking in a deep breath, she began to speak once more.

"My parents hate it when I'm late home."

Nodding, Matsumi resolved to just nod or shake her head if she could. She couldn't trust her voice enough to speak anymore.

Yarotai nodded with a faint grin beginning to appear on the edges on his mouth. That chuckle still wanted to explode out of him for how readily she went along with his story. The mischievous joys of youth were not lost on the young man. Though most of his mayhem was to get the attention of women.

He straightened up once more and turned with his back to the girl. He made sure however to not remove his right hand from the kunai pouch or actually take his eyes off of the child. The last thing he needed was to be duped by some sort of expert infiltration ninja and get stabbed in the back. The young man cocked out his left elbow towards the child as if offering his arm to a lady, "Well then, Matsumi, we should probably get going. As long as you stay with me no one will question you being out right now."

(Chains you can make your next post either here or in the Housing. I'm sorry for trying to speed things up but as soon as Yarotai drops her off and gives her the first Academy lesson I'm going to move RP time along.)

The priest began to stoke the fires, giving Kiyoshi time to catch his breath. Surely he had more training tonight. He was used to training himself, with very little input from others. That wasn't to say that others didn't tell him what to do; he just wasn't used to having them assist him in any way. He would have to figure out how to interact with others, because tomorrow he would be starting in the academy. He wasn't sure how well that would work, given that he was likely to get thrown out for being overly aggressive in training... But that didn't really matter to him. It was all about focus after all.

Tomorrow would be the day of reckoning for him. He wasn't sure how many students would be there, since the amount of available manpower as of late was very small... but surely there would be a good amount. Either that or the village would have to start conscripting students. That wouldn't be all that bad in reality... but it would cause a number of problems for those that weren't used to it. Perhaps they would be better served if the village was more like the temple? It seemed to run smoothly enough.

Of course, the temple was probably a bad example of what the village should be. Not everyone would readily accept a radical movement like his family proposed. He wasn't even sure what a real family was, because his family was anyone who worked in the temple. He didn't even know who his real mother or father were. He had assumptions, but it never really mattered to him. All that he knew for certain was that his family had been here for at least six generations. Hopefully one day he'd figure it out, but for now he had a job to do first and foremost.

In truth, he was afraid of going into class tomorrow. He had never really had any chance to interact with other children before. His entire basis for interaction was based around adult men and women who were already trained killers. It wasn't really a friendly environment to be raised in, but it was effective. Of course, other children terrified him. They had strange rituals and ideas; beliefs that Kiyoshi couldn't understand. They were so weird and foreign to him, and yet they lived in the same village as him...

Finally the priest had finished refilling the braziers. He didn't really feel like training more for now, but he knew he had to. He couldn't be weaker than his classmates tomorrow. He wasn't even sure what he would have to do. Perhaps they would be paired off and they would have to slay one another like animals? That would be a proper test of natural talent... but it would reduce manpower greatly. It was quite a conundrum, but Kiyoshi figured that he didn't have to worry about it. He was probably more than prepared.

The morning came with the normal amount of worry that any child would experience before their first day of class. Even so, he still had to do something to calm his nerves. Being panicked would be rather embarrassing for his entire order. To compensate, he turned to his form of religious readings, his scripture. It was said that to truly gain knowledge you had to gain wisdom from their true meaning. He pulled out two scrolls, one to read, the other to be used as a copy. Surely in copying the scripture, he would gain some form of insight into the words, and in the same breath calm his nerves.

It was obvious that his nerves were shot worse than he thought. Before he even began working, he spilled the ink on the blank parchment that he had planned to work on. Growling, he crumpled it up and got a new sheet, planning on starting again. He didn't have a lot of time, and as such he couldn't spend it messing up like that. There was one advantage to what he was doing; he wasn't trying to make an official copy. There was plenty of room for error, since this was just practice after all. Kiyoshi took a deep breath, before dipping his pen in the ink and trying again.
