The simple heating spell cut through the air. Tura had looked for Asako the moment the wave descended onto the field.
The spell seared right through the water, sending steam flying skywards and creating a window of escape for the phoeinix.
Doubling back with a swift roll she stooped and pulled up to face Chi-linn.
Tura reproduced the small energy ball charged with electricity. It had been meant originally for Lessir, but if they were clever...

Tura barely managed to dodge a new spurt of flame that shot past her. She felt the heat through her feathers and flew lower still.
The pillars had been almost completely submerged. They now looked like stiff stone lillypads littering a giant pond.
Despite her opinion of the pair there was a litttle concern in her voice.
The gryphon answered her calmly.

Svalin was not nearly as fortunate as Asako had been. He had no clever escape plan and plunged face first into the water with a large splash. He could almost immediately feel the water begin to draw away the heat from within his body, sapping his strength along with it.

He thought to his companion, the Dragon Sage. Almost the instant he thought this he could feel a burst of heat and fire bloom around and within him. It was a spell that his master had discovered worked exceptionally on the young drake, whose power could be fueled through heat and fire. And that is exactly what the spell did. It lit Svalin on fire inside and out igniting blood, muscles, bone, and scales in a blazing pyre of heat and flame.

Svalin felt his strength return, and surge beyond what it had previously been. The water around him began to boil as the oxygen in it combusted and fueled his fire even as it attempted to extinguish it. He folded his wings against his body and paddled his way back to the surface where he burst through in a cloud of steam. He spread his wings over the surface of the water and, drawing on the immense strength he felt in himself he thrust them down in one powerful stroke and hauled himself out of the water. Several more beats of his wings and he was once again far above the crater and circling, waiting for his opponent to challenge him once again, while flames licked at his body granting him strength.

Sai had been about to cast his spell again, which he was not actually sure he could have managed, when he saw Kusanagi whirl and reach for Stratus throat. He paused though when he saw a much enlarged and very vicious looking Vix thrust upwards at the dragon. It was fortunate he did because Kusanagi abandoned his attack and swung around, attempting to position Stratus between himself and Vix's oncoming jaws.

Stratus immediately followed this command. "Ventas." Sai said and threw his hand out before him, in the direction of his partner and the battle that raged around him. A burst of wind formed and traveled along the path that Sai had indicated. It blew directly into Stratus and his spread wings and threw him backwards and out of the way of both of the other creature combatants.

((Alright, once again I must ask: Where in the heck has everybody gone?! Holidays are over people, let's get back into the routine. If people are going to be gone for extended periods of time they should be informing everyone of it.))

((Sorry, I have limited access to internet currently ): I don't have enough time to post in all of my rp's... T.T ))

Asako felt Minatsuki weaken to get her out of the water. Escaping through the way Tura had made for her, Asako once again flew over the sky, eyeing Svalin.

<... Asako, plan m.>

<... I'll be fine. Stall for two minutes...>

Minatsuki sat down properly on the ground, trying to balance herself.

Asako darted downwards, giving some speed to her flight. As she swerved once around Svalin, the flames leaned slightly towards her, as if they were drawn to her. She swung her wings, attracting fire straight from the source, the dragon, itself, and made away from him, taking the fire along with her. Though dangers, she sunk a little lower in height, closer to the raging water, and flew around the cyclones, raising her speed as she flew in attempt to confuse the dragon.

Svalin merely watched as the phoenix flew by and drew away a portion of his flame. He was not concerned, the fire burning within him instantly replenished his fiery coating. The fire bird dove down and began winding among the columns of water that had begun twisting and swirling around the surface of the water.

Time to remove some of that cover...

Svalin took a deep breath while he continued to hover above the water. He held it for a moment and then released it all in one burst. His breath exploded from his gaping jaws as an orb of red and white hot flames. The fireball flew down toward one of the pillars and collided with it just below the middle. Where the ball of flame had impacted the water exploded in a gout of steam and then, without the center to support it, the entire column collapsed down on itself and re-merged with the rest of the watery pool that had taken over their battlefield. Svalin began to repeat this process with the intention of destroying all of the columns, and denying the phoenix with cover and protection in the process.

Just when one of the water pillars exploded into the steam, covering Asako from Svalin for a second, a fireball, with a size of all the fire she had stolen and from her wings, flew with extreme speed downward, just below Svalin. The fireball did not extinguish when it touched the water; it emerged into the water and exploded, shooting a enormous column of water towards the fire dragon, big enough to swallow the creature whole.

((I dunno where everyone went. I was just waiting for you so I could respond with Svalin. And I'm still waiting for Silver Griffin to post with Kusanagi so I can make a response with Stratus. And I know what you mean about being sick. I've missed work four times in the last two weeks, give or take a couple days, because I kept getting sick. I'm still not fully recovered. Just get a lot of rest and get your energy back, hopefully you'll feel better soon.))

Svalin was caught entirely unprepared by this unorthodox attack. As the water blasted up to and around him, engulfing him, he felt the coldness of it begin to steal his heat away. He was almost out of time as it was, the flame spell within him was burning out his body a little at a time. He may have drawn his energy from heat, but when his body itself was the fuel for the fire it meant he had a limited amount of time before he had to stop feeding the spell or else risk it consuming him entirely. His scales were already blackening and he felt as though his body were thinning as the flames pushed the limits of his fire resistance and burned at his muscles. In order to keep the flames burning and continue to supply his body with energy he would have to feed more of himself to them, and soon his body would fail and he would have no need for energy.

Svalin called out resentfully.

Svalin kept the spell going for another couple of seconds until the column spray of water descended back to the surface of the pool. Then he released the spell and used what energy he had remaining to fly to the craters rim and land clumsily next to his Master. He collapsed there, on his stomach, with his head turned towards the flooded battlefield so that he could watch his fellows continue the battle until exhaustion carried him into unconsciousness.

((First week of semester >.> Sorry. I'm taking 8 classes, total of 20 hours this semester =w=;; wink )

Asako swirved around the water column back, and flew away from the surface again. Though her flare had diminished, she kept her up speed.

Asako replied back, flying away towards the arena, looking around to see who needed her help.

((Alright, I've managed to get into contact with Griffin and she says I am supposed to go ahead and take control of her two NPC dragons so that we can get this story moving again. She, apparently, is getting really bogged down with homework lately. So... I guess now I need to go back and reread what's been happening with Kusanagi and Quellar...))

Kusanagis eyes widened as the feathered dragon once more eluded his trap, then widened further as he realized he was going to take a hit from the massive serpent. He crossed all four legs around his softer underbelly as best he could and prepared himself.

Quellar now sat perched atop one of the pillars, which now appeared to be little more than a stone in a pond. He was not sure what all to do though, his orders had been to release the water for Lessir. He had done that but now his own advantage, the earth, was buried by hundreds of gallons of water. Then he saw the wolf jumping from pillar to pillar. He began to, carefully, follow the wolfs example and leap after it across the pillar tops.

Chi-Linn, having successfully flooded the arena had noticed that Kusanagi was being double teamed. Quellar was making his lumbering way after the wolf. Lessir was currently unharassed. And the phoenix from the opposing team had finished with Svalin.

Chi-Linn thought to his ally.

He then began his sinuous way through the air to deal with that massive serpent. As he was himself much like a serpent, only of the flying, fire breathing, variety.

((Somebody, help! Too... many... damn... dragons... Somebody... take one... please... *keels over*))
PostPosted: Sun Jan 27, 2008 1:04 pm

((*Takes back little Quellar and Kusanagi dolls* I'll carry on with them from here wink . All right! It's gonna be tough, but I'm not giving up on RPing just yet. What say we start bumping off some more of these dragons, I think it's time for a story advancement.))

Tura saw the young drake swoop out of the arena.

Tura scanned the battlefield, spotting Lessir who seemed to be enjoying this new change of elements.
The gryphon could almost feel Vilya's eager smile.

Tura rolled her eyes and, still clutching the concentrated charge in her talon she dove once more.

Quellar leapt from pillar to pillar, timidly at first but with growing confidence, and more grace than expected of his great hulking form.

He launched himself after Fenrir, the new spell allowing him to break rock from a good distance away as long as he himself was standing on solid ground.

((*panics with Lessir and Asako doll* I can't fight myself! What do I dooooo O: I could trade one of you? *Makes Lessir doll obscenely attractive*))

The winds grew stronger around the cyclones floating around the arena, and Asako darted pasts the the water pillars, flaring up more fires to protect herself.

Asako stopped in mid-air, and brew up another ball of fire from her wings, a smaller size than previous. With a one arduous swing, she sent it flying towards the earth dragon on his small island.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 27, 2008 3:01 pm

((Yes! We are back in full force! *shakes like a crazy man with excitement* Yes! *steals attractive Lessir doll from Blood, tosses Chi-Linn doll at her in trade*))

Stratus swooped away from the titanic battle between Serpent and Dragon and prepared to fight against a creature that seemed to be both in one. He began rapidly closing the distance and quickly came upon the sinuous dragon with all talons extended and ready to rake away at scaled flesh.

Sai spoke within the feathered dragons mind.

Stratus thought back.

Lessir, whose vision seemed to be somewhat blurry and whose muscles had begun to ache, used her natural affinity to water to form several waterspouts, tornadoes filled with water, to surround and protect her. She looked up to see that the phoenix had finished off her ally, Svalin.

No no, we can't have that now...

She reared her head back and then thrust it forward, a jet of water burst from her opened mouth and shot through the air at the flaming bird.

Raidek grinned at what he saw before him, Quellar mid air, jumping towards Fenrir.

Raidek had planned on waiting until later before using any more magic, but he couldn't pass up the opportunity. The blast of air, shot towards the pillar from Raidek, as Fenrir leapt off it to the next.

As the blast hit the pillar, it exploded just above the water, quickly causing the pillar itself to drop towards the water, and eventually would disappear beneath it.

He wasn't sure how Quellar would react to such a situation, but he was left without a pillar to land on, leaving him to plummet towards the water, and should he land it in. Raidek was ready to blast the water with a lightning bolt that would surely do some damage to the massive beast.
