Herei chuckled quietly. "Doctor, your position is not to protect, it is to lead. Leave the protection to those suited for it." Again with the underhanded compliment. He decided to play a little game of logic. "By the sounds of it, you didn't notice the woman left, which leads me to believe she left of her own free will." He paced to the right as he talked, smiling up at the sky. "I know you are a young man, but chasing two younger teenage boys through the forest doesn't quite seem your pace." He strode to the left side of Kenth, still sharing his secret smile with the night.
"No one here has the knowledge that you do. To lose our doctor in the midst of this place could be fatal. I will help you the best I can, but this task was assigned to you and you alone. Please reconsider." And that was all he was going to say about it. It was also the most he'd give to lift the guilt off of the doctor's shoulders, although the blame was not so easily discarded. If Kenth was so eager to dash off into the darkness, he could not stop him, short of knocking him out. That would lead to other problems that he really didn't need right now.
More than that, he was tired of trying to soothe Kenth's ego; that was more work than he was cut out for. Instead, he turned to Dante, clasping his hands once more in front of his stomach. "Did you find anything, Professor?"
RuiZhi blinked at the sudden and familiar motion, tilting his head back slowly to look up at Audun. The boy smiled wearily at the man, giving him a small wave. "Uh. Hello again, Audun. I'm glad you made it back." More than that, he was glad the man was smart enough not to chase his deranged adopted sister through the forest.

Audun frowned a bit at the youth's words, and he gave a vigirous rub to the boys' head. It wasn't anything painful, more like a friendly wake-up or jsut a simple 'hey there'.
"If you're worried about her, that woman can handle her own. Or if you want..."
He didn't feel like saying anything else, so he just frowned deeper and pulled his hand off Ruizhi's head. He rubbed the back of his neck again, aware that this motion was slowly becoming a bad habit he'd have to break really soon. Maybe he was developing it because he hadn't had enough coffee...or was on the edge from fear, annoyance, and a need for some home cooking.
"...never mind."
Audun put his hands into his pockets and looked towards the jungle, wondering. Simply wondering.

Greg counted up everyone as soon as his group got there. When he added up Kenths group… Well there wasn’t much there to ADD really. It was more noticeable that there were three people missing from his group than who was there.
That didn’t sit well with Greg. Losing two kids and a woman that seemed to care for his brother was not something that Greg was going to just let go.
“Kenth! What happened?!” He yelled a little louder than he had meant to when he got up to the doctor. “What happened to everyone else sent with you? Are they alright?” He didn’t mean to, but couldn’t really help it, when he thought briefly about Melinda, but he knew that now wasn’t the time for that. Now he was more worried about his brother and, even more so, the people that weren’t with his brother.

The sobs subsided into hiccups, and he clung, arms latched firmly about the taller boy's waist with no real intent of letting go anytime soon. This was the only comfort he had at the moment...and he had to face the fact that they were really and truly out there by themselves.
"M'sorry, Ka...I...I didn't think...she was just...gone...and I acted." He sniffled a bit, peering up at the other, "I don't want to lose people." There was a quiet sort of determination to the statement, as though he himself would personally stand in the way of anything or anyone that said otherwise. Glancing back over his shoulder, he frowned, "I guess Kenth and what's his face didn't come after us..."
He wondered how close they had been to the meeting place...and how far they were from it now...it had only seemed like a few minutes at the time...but navigating this forest could be more than a little tricky...of that he was sure.
He liked forests, as a rule...but...ah...not so much this jungle.

Ka nodded slightly, one hand moving, fiddling with strands of dark hair in an almost nervous sort of motion. "Well, you almost lost yourself, too," Ka pointed out quietly, tone gentler now than it had been before. They hadn't really seen any large animals the entire time they'd been in here - which was decidedly odd - but that didn't necessarily mean they didn't exist. So Ka didn't really want Far crying any more, since sounds of distress could draw predators and the like ...
Not to mention it made his own heart twist a little to see the other so upset.
Turning slightly, Ka looked back the way he had come, blinking and then frowning at how very dark it was. "Ah. I don't suppose you have any idea which way we go to get out of here...?"
The forest unnerved him too - even being more of a city-kid, he could tell something was very wrong here.

*WHAP*
Dante silenced Greg with a smart smack to the back of the head.
"Professor Larine." His tone was commanding, stiff and formal, his aura as an Advisor slipping temporarily back into place. "Collect yourself or I will have no qualms settling this with Prinwaltz when we get back."
He paced around and made sure the man was looking into his eyes when he spoke again. "Your brother has made a mistake. That much I know. That much ANYONE can see. But dammit, Larine, it is not our place right now to fluster him any more than we already have. Give him a chance to redeem himself."
He paused a moment.
"....He's not the rebellious little child anymore, Greg. Let him choose his own path."
He turned back to Kenth. "We await your command."

RuiZhi huffed indignantly at Audun's comment, almost a short laugh. It was nice to have someone be so kind to him, especially in a way that he was comfortable with. Damn Rylenn for making him more receptive to touch. "I can't help but worry. I also know she did what she did for a reason." He paused a moment, glancing over to the teachers who were acting far more like children than he ever remembered acting. The boy sighed, then looked up at Audun, something intelligent shining in his bright eyes.
"No one has asked why she left. They just assumed she got lost. My sister is a little crazy, but she doesn't do anything without a reason." Alex didn't get lost. Her job was finding that which was lost, although he doubted anyone knew that about her. That really, really bothered him; what did she see in there that made her feel that parting with the group without a spoken word would be the smartest decision? Something bad, he'd wager, something she didn't want around the boys...or around the doctor.
"I just...I hope Farlest and Ka'hmesh are okay. I like them." With that statement, he was back to being just a normal boy without any insight, staring glumly into the forest.

Wei couldn't help but sigh in relief seeing the others. But his fears were confirmed when he didn't see Alex around. Biting his lip, he moved to punch Kenth but Dante's words had held him back. Dammit! He didn't really give a damn about the other two students, he didn't know them. But he knew Alex and damn it all if this forest took anymore lives!
He sighed heavily, trying to rid himself of any gathering stress. It was too early for something like this to happen.

"...."
Lina stepped forward, taking Wei and Rui by the shoulders and nodding to them. "I know you two are afraid. It's a very distressing thing...losing someone you care about, never knowing if you'll see them again.."
She tightened her grip. "But don't doubt your sister. Wei, you know this already, but Rui, your sister is much stronger than you think her to be. And you already think highly of her.
"So I'm not going to tell you not to worry. But trust in her, all right? She knows what she's doing. And I'm going to help you two...because I believe in her too. Even if I shouldn't be out here."
That was the only implication she made. There was no use hiding it anymore...not after what Dante had said.

"Ah, so."
Audun had to work pretty hard to hide the bit of annoyance in his voice as Lina tried to comfort RuiZhi and the other boy, he only knew as Wei. He didn't know why Lina just suddenly seemed to ruffle his feathers, but kids really didn't need sugar-coating on issues - even though he himself had just tried something sort of similar moments before.
Maybe it was because he was telling the boy in a way more like 'Hey, she's gone and you're not. Get on with it.' instead of a 'Trust her, she's so awesome!' kind of way. The truth should never be sugar-coated, he knew that much.

RuiZhi still didn't look away, allowing the woman to comfort him, if not only because Alex liked her and Lina counted his sister as a good friend. He didn't think Weiyuan needed any words - he never thought the older boy was overly fond of the lost woman - but he hoped the other would receive Lina's words well, especially since they had travelled together before.
She knows what she's doing. The words rolled around in his mind, ones he had thought of not that long ago. Just because she knew what she was doing didn't mean she wasn't going to get hurt in the process. RuiZhi now understood why Kenth would have rather been alone; sometimes the worry was more trouble than it was worth, even if it was cynical to think so.
"Thank you, Lina," he smiled faintly, brown eyes moving momentarily onto the woman before shifting back to the forest. "With three of us pulling for her, she has to come back." It sounded childish even to his ears, but it also sounded like something she'd say. That thought made him shiver a little, hoping she wasn't too lonely in that dark mass of trees.

Kenth looked at Herei, trying to argue. He stopped himself however, as he realized that dispite the unpleasant words, Herei did have a point. He was...no good at protecting others, but at least he could be helpful in terms of general directions. At least, that was what he was good for in Herei's eyes. The man never took anything seriously, or rather, Kenth would say that he took EVERYTHING seriously under his perfectly innocent smiles. Kenth sighed. No use in arguing then. He had lost the battle ever since his decision to bring Herei along. The man was far more controlled and wise, even though Kenth was not willing to admit it. In a way, Herei seemed...synister. Kenth shruddered at the thought, and lowered his head, turning so that he could walk away from the converned crowd.
He needed time to think, and to rest his anxious mind. And after that. he'd come up with a plan of what to do next...next day...next morning...
He hoped the missing three would be okay.DAY 3 HAS ENDED. ====================================================
((Farlet and Ka: Assume you guys have been walking for the whole night. Everyone else: Assume that all of you have slept together during the night. Alex:...um...sleep somewhere? XD; *shot* ))

Lina noticed Audun looking at her again.
No. I won't lose my temper. That's not what we need.
Instead, Lina turned to him. "I am very well aware that Alex could die. I'm terrified. But the instant I consider that an option, we all lose. This is a place where you MUST will yourself to live, Audun. And to do that, you must both acknowledge the realities of this place--and the possibilities--and at the same time believe things will be all right."
She turned her head to the side. "Now I'm sorry I lost my temper before. I haven't been myself lately, as many people here will testify. You can be as blunt as you wish--if I must be looked down upon by you for hoping for the best and trying to be positive, so be it. I'm not searching for your approval."
The hand on RuiZhi's shoulder tightened, and she nodded. "The three of us are too stubborn to let her go that easily. And she still needs to propose to Kenth!

Rylenn had fallen asleep right against Weiyuan. He refused to be away from the other so he had offered to share blankets with him.

((xD)) Weiyuan nodded at Lina's words. But it did not stop his heart from quivering. He always wanted a big sister...and now that he had one...It was just odd sometimes.
He sighed, going off to rest. He curled up around Rylenn, hoping to wake up before the elder so that he may speak with Rui a bit. His brother knew how to calm him.
Though. Unfortunately nothing happened that night. Psh. Didn't Rylenn say that if he was good he'd get laid tonight? Meanie. Depriving his slutbunny. Not nice at all. He owed him........ZzZzZz....
