He didn't like my word choice for what happened.
Daemon replied calmly.
He is angry at his brothers for what they did, angry because the Queen did not step in, but more so at his brothers. Gion believes, and rightly so that regardless family is family, powers or not. The problem is he's the only one who feels like that, and the only reason why he's the only one because I have the distinct impression he's been picked on a lot. For his height, for his lack of voice... for his sense of compassion. Since he's not holding me shall I be bold to say, your daughter is not the only odd one out.

Our family seems to be known for that, Serenity replied dryly. I don't think a single generation of our family has been accepted for who they are. As awful as it sounds. Though I suspect that it may also have something to do with the fact that they've always been in everyone's eye ... after all, if we were all the way we were but not in front of everyone's faces we would be left alone.

True... though I don't think... well I mean it would upset Gion if other people voiced what they thought about his sister, but it just stings him more because it's from his family.
Daemon replied back softly.
At any rate it had been a long two weeks after that. I can't tell you more than the fact she went back to Gaia with those people.

Serenity sighed. Then at least she'll be happy, she thought sadly. And safe. She looked back at Gion and she was concerned to see that he was still shivering.
I'm going to give you back to Gion now, she told Daemon. He's freezing, I have to get him warm. Yes he's an elf, but even elves aren't immune to this kind of weather.
And she held the sword out to Gion again.

Daemon understood what Serenity meant, he couldn't understand how Gion could stand the cold.. though he was holding up better than a human would, but it kept snowing.
Okay.

Gion took the sword back and resheathed it, then took some food out of his pack and started eating, looking at his mother to see what she was going to do.
What did she say? he asked Daemon suspiciously, still somewhat upset.

She wants to start a fire or something... as good as your people are with the cold you're not meant to endure this kind of extreme weather. Daemon replied back.

Well, it is cold, Gion agreed. Though he wasn't going to tell Daemon just how cold.

Serenity shifted into a moor cat once more and curled behind Gion. It was the best way for her to keep him warm ...

Gion lay back against the moor cat's side and felt warmer immediately. Guess it's not a good time for a fire, he mused to Daemon. Though even if we could make one, had something to make one with, I don't suppose it would last long in this kind of weather.

Not with the wind no.... Daemon agreed and if the snow got inside it wouldn't help much neither.
Hopefully we'll get there soon... otherwise it will be a long trip.

Well, I get the feeling it'll be a long trip anyways, Gion chuckled inwardly. But if Mother's with us then at least I won't have to worry about freezing ... which until today is something I would never have worried about. Ever. Of course, I didn't even know what it meant until today ... so that might have someting to do with it ...

True... this is vastly different from the desert places... I've never given it that much thought before, but then again I was never out in the cold for this long.
Daemon explained.

And apparently it's just beginning, Gion thought sarcastically. What a wonderful journey we have ahead of us.
He felt his eyelids growing droopy, he was growing tired as he was growing warmer. He pulled out his blankets and pulled them over himself, then lay back against his mother's side and closed his eyes.
I'm going to take a nap, he told Daemon. I'm so tired ... Even though he knew it was still only the middle of the day.

Rest.... we can take up travelling again later.
Daemon wondered side he was slung onto Gion if he was touching Serenity at all.
