Ruuvan

Ruuvan stopped as Claire shouted out, out of irritation of going around in circles and the fact she did ask, once again turning his head to look at the rune flashing on the wall. There was something very ominous about the whole situation, almost like they were crossing the same expanse of cave.

"Yes, they can. I wouldn't bring anything weaker with me." He was hoping this would get the point across he'd have to face a bad-a** shizneit once they reached the chamber, even though he had kept the true purpose of this cave a secret, but this would give the first bit of information she needed - he'd tell her about the Stone's importance once he was done. So, with a fluid movement of his left hand, he unsheathed one of the throwing knives and spun it around to have the handle facing Claire.

Antharas' eyes followed after Raven, before they dulled and simply closed.

Children...

Once again, the great behemoth went to rest.

Vahn continued moving forward, yellowed eyes staring up. All along the ceiling, were murals depicting most likely the builders of babel. For all intents and purposes... this winged race looked as if they were related to Sunstrike.

He was soon passing through a massive doorway; the door itself long since smashed and ruined. The gothic design of the Tower was hard to ignore.. it seemed it's architects had a flair for the dramatic... as well as religious occult.

As soon as he stepped forward, his greaves echoed out loudly, bouncing all along the inside of the Tower repeatedly, until the echo lost itself.

"Fancy..."

Vahn stared up, at the massive spirals of stairs; such a complicated structure that one could easily get lost in. It also didn't help that the place was falling apart.

To Vahn's right was a large effigy of one of the winged creatures he had seen in the mural. It's wings were outstretched, it's glistening white body gleaming like a beacon within the dismal surroundings.

"Can Tellus move on her own?"

He never turned around, not once, the whole time they had started forward. Although he wasn't letting it on, he was indeed keeping track of them all. He started longily to the stairs that began on his right... and all the hundreds of doors that were on floor after floor.

This isn't going to be as simple as I thought... 'Just walk in and stop him.' The hell was I thinking? This place is massive! Even more so than Sorrow's Keep..

"Awww..." Tellus childishly bright voice echoed through the hall. "I was having fun with the piggyback ride." She leaned forward and kissed Sun's cheek before sliding down off his back. "I can stand on my own..." before the voice shifted again, this time not even recongizable to Sun. "...Son of Fah." If anyone had glanced at her when she had spoken, they would simply see what appeared to be wings before they vanished and what would appear to be snow drifted down, only it was sparkles of light that were in fact feathers that then disaapaited.

"What need do you have of me?"

She nodded, grabbed the weapon, and almost immediately she carved through the rune on the wall, in one sure, swift stroke. A flash of steel later, a diagonal line that went from left to right carved across the rune...

And seconds later, the wall before them... disappeared. An entire six foot wide by eight foot high section just melted away, revealing one final torch-lit staircase down.

This was it!

"Now then... Onward!"

She giggled slightly as she went forwards, giving the knife back to Ruuvan as she did so.

*why did immortals always look at her like she was another of the kiddies? sweatdrop oh well, when all was said and done, if she was still alive, she might come back and talk for a while with the dragon, she was certain he was a fascinating fellow, and if he promised not to eat her she would really do her best to get him out of here...* xp

*The architecture was defiantly old, and she bet that Hugin or Munin would have liked the place a lot more, for herself it was a tad creepy... *

eek what the...*Rave blinked a few times wondering if this was some downside of being mortal... she had heard that mortals sometimes went crazy and "saw things" but she had not expected to see that!*

Um....*she shook her head and snorted softly to herself wondering who the hell this woman was and where Tellus had gotten off to* okay so are we going to play nicky-nicky nine doors Kas, or do you have a better way of finding your brother? sweatdrop 'cause this could take a long time with just the four of us...

Ruuvan was quite impressed with Claire, her knowledge on dungeons and ruins coming into its own on these last few sections, but he would only smile and take his knife as he walked past her and started down those stairs, Ruby clutched in his left hand and one sword in his right. The Guardian would surely be down here, what with it being a final-stretch-looking area, so he would be ready to either fight immediately after entering the chamber or ready to talk to the Valkyre; eitherway, he was ready.
"Things will get interesting from here, so be careful." Of course the fight would be a one-on-one, but precautions always needed to be taken.

She gently placed D next to the entrance as they walked in, finding themselves in a stadium of sorts. The seats were stone, covered with a thin layer of soft sand. D was just inside the entryway, near the top row of seats. It looked like this place was meant for watching two combatants go at it, but in other terms it seemed that it had not been sat in for a long time.

In fact, they didn't look sat in at all. The seats were unworn; looked unused. The place seemed as if it were built months ago, perhaps days. And yet, it had an air about it that spoke of... many, many ages past.

In any event, the grave marker was there in the center of the circular sand pit, which was 100 square feet in total area. Behind that... was one hell of a weapon.

A four foot long, five inch wide flamberge, the wave pattern that was about the edges serving to add to cutting power. The damned thing probably weighed about 25 kilograms or so, and looked like it could tear someone in half with one swing, if the proper force were put behind it. But the main point of interest was the notch in the hilt.

It was the perfect size and shape for the ruby to fit inside of it.

Why...

Claire rubbed her temples as she looked at the blade and the grave marker.

My head hurts. Damn...

"Let's go, Ruuvan."

(( Nicky-nicky nine doors?? Meru? sweatdrop ))

He felt the girl slip out of his arms. "Looks like that's the case, Vahn." He stared uncomfortably at all the statues and beings scattered about, ears twitching as he strained to hear any sound.

Hono was right, it was creepy here...just too many places for things to jump out and take you...

"I don't think our hosts will give us the luxury of checking through every single door here."

He shoulded Efreet once more, before breaking into a clean run forward. He easily cleared the first of many slabs of rubble and debris that littered the staircase with a leap.

"Let's go!"

Yellowed eyes stared to the side, looking at the higher sections of floors. He noticed large stoned walls blocking much of the way... so much for just heading straight to the top.

He continued heading northeast, slowing to a halt as he followed the path until reaching a caged door with|stairs and dimmed light in front of it. He stared all around, before glancing up and seeing the gap above them, which led to another level.

Well... I guess all the mess has it's good points as well.

He dug his left heel in hard against the wall, before hiking up it slightly, and quite awkwardly, enough to clear the gap and reach the ledge.

But just barely.

He began pulling himself up, even as he slung Efreet across.

Of course he probaly could have just gotten Raven to create a cushion of air to raise him up.. but the boy just wasn't thinking straight.

Ruuvan

PostPosted: Tue Feb 14, 2006 5:48 pm

Ruuvan wasn't surprised to see another stadium-type setting before him, what with his previous arena being similar in size but circular in shape, so he seemed to take it all in his stride as the two of them approached the grave marker and the impressive weapon.

He had tried to take command of all situations, preferring to sort them out himself rather than put the other two in danger, so when he was going to ask Claire to step aside and let him handle it, he hesitated for a moment before smiling and turning to face his companion.
"This is the part I have to do alone, Claire." Ruu said quietly, motioning towards the sword with the Ruby, a calm expression placed on his face amidst the smile, "Stay off the arena floor, that's why there are so many seats around, and even if I'm in trouble do not come and help me. I'll explain what's going on afterwards, but for now you're going to have to trust me." He could only hope she understood what he was saying.

Once he had finished and Claire started back towards the viewing area, Ruuvan made his way towards the weapon and carefully placed the Ruby in the hilt, taking a few steps back once it was in place.
"Valkyre of the Flames, I'm calling you out." No vocal was needed at this point, but he figured it would make his point more obvious to somehow coax the Guardian from her resting place.

"Indeed the son of Fah..." the person inhabiting Tell's body spoke quietly, almost to herself before placing her palms together in front of her body and speaking quietly. Gently the girl began to rise and floated towards Vahn, landing on her tiptoes that settled onto the ground softly, the tendrils of hair waving about her face, the soft silver blue like it's own beacon light.

"Vahn of the flame, your heedless seeking will lead no where. Burn bright and steady lest you burn your mortal dwelling out."

Claire nodded.

The ruby locked in place, and shone brightly. The broadsword that was buried in the sand pit glowed red hot, now powered by the Rune Stone. The heat index in the arena rose signifigantly as the sword began to spiral out of control, without someone to command the fire!

s**t... what... what's this? Why...

Claire whimpered slightly as her head pounded. She sank to her knees and held her head, shutting her eyes against the pain. As if in response to her pain, the heat rose to an almost unbearable level. The door that led into the chamber closed behind her, but she could not notice it. As the power of the Rune Stone began to increase, her headache began to double on itself.

She could no longer hold back her scream of pain.

"Ah... AHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

And as she screamed... her mind slipped back.

"We have to restrain her! She's gone mental again!"

The other nine valkyrie were there, trying to defend themselves against their sister's rage. Something had happened that had set her off... she had an aura of heat and flame around her and, though she was in her battle rage, wielded the broadsword expertly, though she was striking blindly. Her wide sweeps of cleansing fire were effectively holding her opponents back...

In all actuality, they had been tring to coax her out of her battle rage for a while. It wasn't working, and the ones that had started calming her down had taken heavy fire... literally. So they were all here now, defending themselves from their own sister.

It was time for some offense, dammit!

"Hang on- I'm gonna try and take her out! Back me up, Enyas!"

"Understood, sister."

The first one who had spoken tried to rush towards Claire, while the one called Enyas leapt high in the air, readying two of her arrows. She did not pull them from anywhere... but rather drew back her bow, the emerald on her metal bracer shining as she did so. Two pulsing arrows of green light came forth, and once she had a decent bead, she fired. Meanwhile, the first attacker had reached her target. her fists enveloped in lightining as she took two more steps forward, slamming both her palms towards Claire and issuing forth a ball of lightning.

Both targets reached their mark at almost the same time.

Both failed.

"Hyaaaaah!"

With one downswing of her sword, the Valkyrie of Fire discharged a pressure wave of heat and force, blowing both attacks out of the air and dispelling them completely. The attacker who had rushed forward had been slammed back for about ten feet as the wave spread outward. Enyas had not been harmed, but cursed silently to herself as she headed back down to earth.

With a burst of speed, the attacker on the ground resumed her assault, knowing that it would take time to recover from the manuver. Ducking and weaving forward in a boxer's shuffle that moved quite fast, she struck with blow after blow, her fists and feet enveloped in plasma, as if she had become lightning itself.

However, Claire was just as fast, and managed to artfully dodge, parry, block, or otherwise evade the expertly timed and literally lightning-quick moves, which were only points of light and flashes as her opponent struck. Sucessfully knocked back quite a few feet by a well placed heel kick, the agressor was definitely on the ropes as the blade came swinging downward, aiming to divide her down the middle from head to toe.

Unfortunately, a sphere of sheer black enveloped the warrior seconds before impact, making her blade bounce back sharply. Claire snapped her head around, knowing exactly who did what.

"Please... I don't want to hurt you... just stand down."

With an almost feral growl, Claire charged the Valkyrie of Darkness, her body trailing flames as her blade was hefted over her shoulder in preparation for a strike. However, the rune shone and flashed again, and halfway before she reached her intended target, she swung downwards from her shoulder in a diagonal arc. The air was superheated, igniting the oxygen within the path of her stroke and sending a wave of flames towards her sister.

The move was blocked by a tangible wall of shadow, which dissipated a moment later as the woman who conjured it sighed to herself. "You'll exhaust yourself like this- give in now and save yourself the dishonor."

"Awww, quit being so nice for cryin' out loud!"

While she was speaking, the Valkyrie of Thunder rushed forward again, her body moving in a blur. Her hands and feet lit again as she stepped forward and turned to the side, delivering a kick with the knife edge of her left foot. A blast of plasma fired from the offending leg as soon as the kick was fully extended. The first attack, therefore, didn't have to hit.

Claire turned around, hearing the rush of wind, and stroked upwards... but was met halfway by her sister's side thrust kick. The kick, combined with the blast of lightning, sent her flying backwards for a few good feet.

"Now! Do it now!"

As soon as Claire hit the ground, her flames were immediately snuffed out. The oxygen surrounding the air had been effectively snuffed out by the Wind Valkyrie... then, she was pinned to the ground. Just plain held there by some other force. Her body shook as if it were hit with a tangible weight.

"Forgive us. This is for everyone's best interest. We cannot continue on like this while you remain unchecked. Until you can command your own emotions, we have to seal you away. Please understand."

A Valkyrie clothed in silver stepped forward, both hands extended. Claire eyed her vehemently. She eyed them all with the same malevolent, crazed stare. She could not see who her opponents were, nor could she see what they were doing- she just knew that she had to keep fighting.

It were almost as if she did not recognize her own kin anymore.

"Look, I feel sorry for ya... but we gotta do this, Claire! It's for your own good!"

She struggled even more. Whoever this was, they had no right. How could they tell her what was good for her? How could they? She was not a child to be scolded like this! She would get back at them all for this, however many there were!

But it was a bit late for that. As a sphere of shadow enveloped the now pinned battle maiden, she roared and growled. This was not over! Not by a mile! Just you wait... just you... wait...

Nothing. Silence. She had fallen asleep.

Oh, but she was awake now.

"RRRRRAAAAAAAGGGH!"

An explosion of fire and heat came from behind Ruuvan as Claire changed form, her clothing burning away and changing into the divine armor of one of Odin's battlemaidens. With a speed unmatched by anything on this side of existence, she launched forward at the same time, as if the explosion had shot her forward.

She wasn't going for Ruuvan just yet... she was going for her sword. If she had that... all this would be over. Yes... it would be over. Still, if he did not dodge, the aura of fire and heat that surrounded her would have him flash-fried quite quickly.

Warning! High-Risk Enemy!

*Rave looked at Sun with a soft groan*am I the only one confused as to who the heck she is? *she pointed at Tellus and shook her head as if it didn't really matter before she shifted to her natural form, taking a moment to preen iridescent red and black feathers before she hopped with a little squawk and flapped her wings in an effort to get some hight, circling once before she flapped her way up through the hole in the ceiling, reminding herself that in a place without air currents like this flight was a bit harder than it looked...*
