This Summer, some of the local schools joined together and hosted a weapon training. We learned new skills and perfected our triples and quads(I haven't learned Sabre and my director made me do rifle.. anyways) and we learned tricks with backhands but throughout the week we learned a small, about 1 minute routine to preform for the other equipment groups. We learned how to do a hand spin, which I now Love, but we had to do an inverted quad! Yeah, it sucked. I could only do 3 1/2. Can anyone here do a quad? How long did it take to get it down?

Ho-la! My name is Patricia or lily (please call me lily XD) and this is my first year since I am an incoming freshman. And holy moly I love it so much it's not even funny!
My knees are killing me(Kneeling on fake grass hurts trust me XD), my neck always hurts, and I always seem to hurt my wrist but I don't care! It's all worth it!
I just started the rifle basics monday so I'm not any good (I can barely do one spin lol XD) But I'm getting better! but I LOVE the rifle!!!!
I love the saber too but I don't think I'll start that for a while lol XD
COLORGUARD ROCKS NEVER FORGET IT! mrgreen

dude ive been in guard like 9 years. its friggin sweet. i member when i was a freshman... at my old high school, we had a show and it was that song Message in a Bottle by The Police. We had like a plane crash, and everyone had ripped up clothing, and bruises all over their faces, and our hair was all ratted out... :3 I got to get up and scream bloody murder at the top of my lungs... I was all freaked out. It was awesome... At our first show when we all acted like we crashed, and I screamed, the people in the audience ( i swear) jumped like a foot off their seats... hahahhahah! We did (on flag) a double turn around for like our last move. :3

It's the first day of camp, and my band doesn't have a guard director! All we have is our band director that doesn't know anything about guard; he's making our captian direct the whole show until we get an actual director. Also we have only 8 people in our guard this year, the smallest we've ever had! Right now we're only going to one competition! I hope this year goes well...

snow016: thats really funny! we only have 8 people this year too! the past three year have been around 17, but then half the guard graduated, and then most everyone else but me and two other people quit cuz they're DUMB and we are still going to be amazing but i don't think we've ever not had a guard instructor at band camp....and if we didn't, our band director knows some. more than others, anyways. its actually kind of annoying cuz he's always like "FREE ARMS!!!".... good luck this year!!!!

I'm in an extremely small and, honestly, horrible color guard. We suck. People don't show up for practice, they don't listen to the instructor, and talk on their phones during practice. However, our band director says that the people who aren't committed won't be back next year. =D
As for what I like, I've never had the chance to spin saber but I <3 <3 <3 rifle!! Flags are fun, too, but rifle is amazinggg! We only touched on it this year and didn't do much with it but I want to learn more. I've only learned the absolute BASICS on rifle (spins: right and left, chief, flourish, subs, tosses: single, double, weird thing our director made us do) but it's so much fun! I'm totally going to do guard in college =D

I am a rifle in the " " world guard I have to say this year is the year I have returned to guard after skipping my freshmen year in guard -____- (I did band) My best toss is a six and I can crack that rifle with a six 20 percent of the time but 5s are like my favorite toss on rifle, I think this year will be a good year and the music for my guard is Human abstract by David axelrod

I'm new to guard in my high school. Where I'm from, we aren't allowed to even buy a sabre because they're considered a deadly weapon. our show this yer was dedicated to Donnie, our color guard choreographer and drill chart creator. he died last March of Lung Cancer at the age of 46. The songs we did were From Me to You by the Beatles, My Life/Only the Good Die Young by Billy Joel, I Just Want to Celebrate by Rare Earth and Reeling in the Years by Steely Dan. It was so much fun and at the end of every show, 46 red (one of the school colours) balloons were released into the night air. Now we are getting ready for our 20th annual Christmas Village this Friday and Saturday. It's gonna be fun 'cause in chorus I get to go up the 20 foot titanium tree!

Winterguard is almost the same as marching season, you just practice inside and when you perform, you don't move around the area, you stay in one spot.

Anywho This is my second year of color Guard and I hope to try out for Captain for next year xD lol I can use flags, rifles, sabers, swing flags, ten footers, ect. lol I love Sabers but I'm better at rifle haha and due to cercumstances I can easily pop all my finger joints back in to place with ease haha last year I was the only freshy who could use a saber, or rifle. And now I'm the only Sophmore who can use a saber. I think only me and a senior can use sabers. My captain and leutenant can't. *ponders* anywho were doing Paramore's Hallelujah by the Vitamin String Quartet for our winter season Our Band Season was Dark Theater xD haha Anybody here go to state? this year we mainly focused on Parade (The Song for that was Bravura)

I am the only freshman who can throw a double with a flag, most of the upper classmen cant even do that. smile *brag* Me and one other freshman can toss a single or single and a half, spin, and catch it, again most upper classmen cant do that. smile *brag* The funest part of guard is learning all the fun tosses and different tricks. My instructors think i am fearless because im always willing to try really hard things. smile
