"Naturally," Darian says, "I would have even if it hadn't been Arelen's final wish, as I told her."

"But when are you going to even see her next? Don't you have to figure out what happened in your past before seeing her?" the elvish bird says, reaching a hand behind his head.
For some reason or another, his neck itches so he scratches it as he talks with his wife's cousin.

"Yes," Darian says, "But as I was walking back I felt as if a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I think the curse may have been broken, which will certainly make things easier."

"Good to hear, for sure," the bluejay-elvish man says, nodding his head.
A sly grin comes to his face.
He then asks, in a cunning manner, "Since you have this weight lifted off of your shoulders, could you carry my stuff so I can be a bluejay?"

"Smart a**," Darian says, "Although I suppose you would travel faster in blue jay form. The question is, do we continue on with the planned journey or head back home?"

He sticks out his tongue before saying, "Well, maybe I want to get back to my wife and our child. We should probably continue, though, because you still needed to go see the Elders. That's so you can get your memory back, so you can go woo Margem, hopefully to the point that she'll marry you and make you settle down a bit."

"Onward it is," Darian says, "Besides, you seemed as eager to go on this journey as I did, if not more so. Who really needs to settle down?"

Laughing the man says, "You need to settle down, raise a family, and definitely live the rest of your life with a woman - especially Margem. From what I understand of her, about one hundred years ago and from what you have told me, she'll probably accept your offer."

"Trust me, I know." Darian says. "Travelling for a couple centuries, stuff starts to get screwy. Everyone looks familiar."

"Well, I sorta know that too. But I was with the one that I loved the whole time, mind you. I couldn't have gone on without Kitara."
He shudders a bit, imitating his feather-rustling method.
"But I think that you've been waiting and holding out for her truthfully. You never really fell for Arelen - you fell for her sister Margem. However, them looking so similar made you think it was Arelen, especially when Margem left. RIght?"

"It could be," Darian says, "Looking back and remembering how cruel the Arelen I met was to everyone I find it increasingly easy to believe that you're right."

Jay whistles, feeling a sudden urge to do something, takes off his archery stuff and hands his items to his companion. He then dashes to nearby shrubbery and changes into his bluejay form. He then flits back to Darian's side and smiles a bird smile.
"Let's go, then."

After they have walked for a while, Jay lands on Darian's shoulder and sighs.
"I miss Kitara. It's so odd to travel without her nearby. We've been together since we were kids, especially once I became a bluejay. It hurts to know that my parents, at first, didn't accept me as their son but I had her there for me."
He pauses then, blushing under his feathers, asks, "Do I make you uncomfortable when I talk about your cousin?"

"No," Darian says, "I know she's always been there for you. And it sounds like you two are lucky to have each other." A single tear runs down the elf's cheek as he thinks of Margem and how lucky he is to have her.

"Ah. I see that it's similar to your experience with Margem. ...without women, where would we be?" he says with a slight smile, "Kitara says I'd be lost, or dead."
