The Zorua nodded at the humans' responses. At least one of them could understand that Jirachi needed something more than just returning to Unova. All of its revived friends had been captured already, and, as much as they would have loved to, Zorua doubted they could stay in this mansion built of wishes together. They were already imposing on a city - the territory of humans - and it knew about the strength of humans. It had lived the longest life out of the group after all. The humans would find a way to beak Jirachi's dreams - when this happened, Zorua wanted the human that did so to provide Jirachi with another dream. A dream of a new home, a real home not crafted out of memories.

No one can hide in the past forever; they would have to move on to the future.

"Very well then, you may proceed." The Zorua stated, fading out once again. The stairs seem to have returned to normal.

Later, Anrise noticed one of her pokeballs had suddenly gotten heavier. When touching to check, you hear a familiar voice whispier in your ear (only to Anrise), "Go on human, and show me that your words are honest."

User Image After the Zorua disappeared, Noah watched as the stairs changed back to normal, and began to trek up them again. Finally, what appeared to be an end in sight. He just wanted to go home, after all this.

Reno trailed after Noah, bumping his hand with her nose hopefully. They were almost there.

Just clarifying up a few things that my dead brain is too lazy to incorporate right now:
Zoruas were the ones killing you in the rooms, not Jirachi. It was a bit of a test to see your will/endurance...plus they were bored. A ton of pokemon living in a mansion = boredom and pranks everywhereeeeee

Cara looked around after the zorua girl disappeared. "Huh...I guess she decided that we answered correctly." Cara said softly and looked at Dante. The cat rubbed his head against her knee and purred a bit, rubbing himself against her. "Perrrrrsian." She stood up and sighed. As she looked ahead, she noticed that the stairs looked more...normal now then they previously had. "Well...I guess we continue on." And with that, she and Dante started their trek up the not-so-endless staircase once more.

Bazza sighed as the zorua let them pass. They were close to the end, at last. He hadn't played a large role, but he wanted to see it through to the end. With this in mind, he and his ponyta continued up the stairs. He absently hoped he didn't have to walk back down them again - Aubergine wasn't very good at going down stairs, and he wasn't sure he could stand to have her back in her ball until he was home again.

As the Zorua disappeared, something about the stairs seemed to shift. Did they go back to normal? The puzzle must have been more of a test, to make sure the trainers wanted only to help Jirachi. Determined to prove their goodwill, Anise started up the stairs again.

Alexa also began heading up the stairs. She also wanted to get home, or rather back to Katarina. Her brother should be showing up in port or maybe he was already there. Also she needed to check up on Stribog. She laid a hand against Vincent to keep him in check. There were so many other pokemon out that he was just starting to notice. She didn't want him running wild.

As you approach closer and closer to the top of the room, you see several pictures. There is a picture of Jirachi playing ball with two Zoruas. Another picture is of Jirachi splitting a berry with an Emolga. Yet another displays the whole group napping together.

There is one odd picture out there though. Jirachi is alone, looking right at you with fear and confusion. Next to that picture is an even odder picture of Jirachi in rock form.

You're wondering how these pictures even got here considering the mansion was supposedly very old. Perhaps they are Jirachi's own memories projected by the mansion itself. You certainly feel a lot of emotions coming off them: joy, warmth, a feeling of belonging. In the two odd pictures, you sense a great deal of sadness and loneliness.

And up ahead, you can see the faint outline of a door.

And the girl-Zorua was gone, and the trainer posse was beginning to advance up the stairs once again. "I hope," Cygnus said to Lore as they climbed, "that we all come out of this in one piece. Us, the world, and Jirachi included. And I hope you'll be able to forgive Jirachi for what it's done."

User Image Noah noted the picture as they began their ascension, and smiled a little at the Jirachi as he broke berry with Emolga. A pain dug into his chest when they got to the lonesome picture of the scared Jirachi. The rock made sense, now; a layer of protection against a world that would use and abuse the Wishmaker.

He could feel the sadness seeping off the last two pictures; it nearly distracted him from the outline of a door ahead. But he did see it, and he perked up. "Look." He said, grinning. "We're almost there, guys."

Noah picked up the pace, practically sprinting to the door now. They were almost there. It wasn't too late. More importantly, they were going to help Jirachi.

User ImageKurai was glad the Zorua saw that they all meant well, and that they wanted to help not just themselves, but Jirachi. In their own ways, of course. Feeling a little energized by that thought, she moved to follow the group, trying not to stumble or slow anyone down. She paid close attention to the pictures as they came upon them, reaching out to touch one of them, the one of them all napping. Maybe, together, they could give Jirachi a chance at such happiness again. It wouldn't be the same...but it would hold its own place in Jirachi's heart. But first...they had to convince the Wishmaker that it was worth giving them another chance.

As they climbed the stairs, pictures began to appear on the wall. They reminded Anise of the ones in the cottage in the dream world, with Jirachi playing with lots of pokemon. Those were memories, right? Maybe these were too. The oddest part about these ones were that she could feel the emotions radiating off them. They gave her warm fuzzy feelings, and she smiled to see and feel the Jirachi when it was happy.

But the last two pictures were a shocking change. The image of the penultimate one made her heart leap out to the pokemon, even before she felt the accompanying emotion. It was so far from home and everything it knew. It must be startling, coming awake every 1,000 years to see things so different. There must be some way to make the changes in this new time easier. She trotted on to the door above, hoping to make the Jirachi feel welcomed in this strange time and place.

Alexa paused slightly at the pictures. The first few ones were good, warm, happy pictures. They showed what it was like to be friends almost family. They were good 'home' pictures. The last two however instilled a sense of sadness in her and Vincent. Vincent looked at the last two and whined nosing Alexa. She patted him on the muzzle and began walking towards the door.

Steadily upwards and onwards, Bazza climbed with the group. As they passed the paintings, he felt clearly the emotions they conveyed - the happiness was light and sweet, and the sorrow was like a punch to the gut. More and more, he was feeling pity and sympathy for Jirachi rather than begrudging it for trapping them all in dreamspace.
