On his way to the bus stop, he entered a gas station to buy a lottery ticket. He opened the door and went inside, making a bee line straight for where the lotto papers were stationed. He choose one and a pencil before pondering the numbers.
What shall I use?

"uh...thanks." Erika took Emily's hand. Maybe I can tell her what's happened with my life. Erika thought to herself.

The moment Erika grabbed her hand, Emily felt like she needed more help than she let on. She shook Erika's hand and let go. "The cafe is over here", she said pointing down the street. Emily's stomach growled. She had skipped breakfast for this lunch.

Erika walked down the street, feeling the intrigued glances that the people shot at her. Being in full hero attire seems to do that to people.

As they walked down the sidewalk Emily asked, "So, What's your name?". She felt a deep connection with Erika. She thought perhaps they could be good friends.

Emily smiled. She as glad she wasn't a hero. That ment she'd have to hide her identity. At least all she had to hide were her powers. "Well, this is the place". Emily stopped in front of a somewhat older cafe. Inside the were few open tables. She fingered her money, hoping this time they woulden't think she was a child. Emily didn't really look like the seventeen years she really was, and she was almost eighteen and she wanted to look a little older.

Erika sat down at one of the tables. She turned to Emily. "So, what's your name?"

Emily sat down on the opposite side of the table. "My name's Emily, but most people where I live call me Em or Imsy". She felt like some one be hind her was watching her, but ignored the feeling. The only type of person that would be watching her would be from the underworld, but she left that for a life at the mission. "If it is someone from the underworld, they should know not to do anything, or at least, anything in public".

Emily smiled. Most people saw her and walked away disgusted at the street rat in front of them, but Erika was different. she was taking time to know her. The waitress came up and Emily ordered the garlic clam chowder with a side of fried onions.

When the waitress came to take Emily's order, Erika didn't ask for anything. She wasn't hungry. "So, tell me about yourself, Emily."

Emily looked at Erika. "Well, I'm pretty much an average person. I live at a mission a few blocks down the street....Oh! I'm seventeen, going on eighteen soon, and I'm christian". Emily decided that if Erika wanted to know about her past she would ask.

As they were talking, Emily could feel the man watching her get up and move towards them. "Um, excuse me, but I need to use the restroom. Sorry, I'll be right back". She walked into the ladies' room in the back of the cafe, feeling the man follow her in. The restroom was abandoned. Emily turned towards the man, "Ok, lets make this quick. Why are you following m-". She was cut off as the man pulled out a knife and lunged towards her. She side stepped and let herself flow behind the man.
