The event was only supposed to last the summer, now tat sorting has started, the event ended, the timing of everything else was not planned, it was just a summer event, which needed to be left longer for people who weren't here, but summer is over now.

You gotta admit though, the ratio of time for the first round to the final round was pretty cruddy. O_o Perhaps next time we plan a contest like that we could try setting dates for the voting rounds so the first round won't end up there for like a month while the final round only gets around a week.

Plus, form my experience...planning doesn't always make things better...
sometimes people are just more active during random times of the month/week/year/ect...
And there's also the fact that this event was a bit of a spur of the moment thing for the most part...
We're still working on that...
We've only had 2 summers as a guild and we're still trying to figure out what would be best...
I'm sorry it ended so soon, but think of it this way, NEW TERM YAY!

We have a GameKeeper (and that wouldn't make much sense anyways)
I was begining to think that the Care-Taker should be what the Head Elf used to be...(as far as keeping track of lists and what not)
The Keeper of Keys doesn't work either because I'm pretty sure that one stays tied to the GameKeeper and, still, makes not sense...
You're still a student, so it wouldn't make much sense if you were a Ghost...
hmmm...I had a whole list of ideas a while back...now where did I put them??

On the note of who should set up events and their dates, I think it should be the Crew and a few members who promise to dedicate themselves to working on it. Then, when they have a plan for an event or something, they could bring it by the Captain (o0Pinkie0o) and get her approval.

I see how that makes sense, but I was trying to sort of steer away from putting the events on the Moderator's shoulders. Yes, they will definately have a hand in some events and they will most certainly go to all of the events. But, like I said, an awful lot has been put in the hands of 5 members who want to have just as much fun as you do, and it's not really fair to keep pileing things on top of us until it isn't fun anymore. I'm not saying I'm not having fun...I'm a nerd and I love to organize and come up with systems to make things like guilds run smoothly. Hence why I run the paper. But we all have lives outside of the computer too...and sometimes I must admit that there are days that I come online because I feel guilty for negelecting the guild a day or so, and not because I'm anxious to see what I've missed. So I sorta want too have maybe one member (sort of like Grey's Master of Ceemonies" title) who may or maynot or sometimes have crew status and will report directly to either o0Pinkie0o or one of the other mods (I think o0Pinkie0o has some trust in us to make little desicions and if she disagrees, she's a big girl and says so) then maybe this 'Event Coordinator' could have his/her own little voulenteer staff...

Plus, I think I'm right in thinking that we all want this guild to grow. Well, sometimes putting some power into the hands of those you have a little faith in is exactly how this guild grows. People don't really feel like they need to check back every now and then if they can't see what good it will do them. I would hate to think that only a selected group are alloud to change the guild...I do my best to listen to the new kid who joined a few days ago just as well as I listen to o0Pinkie0o, any other mods, or other dedicated members. New ideas and faces arn't always so bad...Sometime we may be too near a problem, where as the new kid who joined yesterday isn't in the thick of things and can tell you exactly what you can do to fix a problem. I am very adiment on making this guild a place made for growth...because it is actually quite unique compared to other HP guilds in many ways...we don't RP, but at the same time we do, we chat off-topic, but we often wander back ontopic on our own, we name things that have totally practical uses with names that are totally J.K. fiction. I think the atmosphere we've been makeing here and I want others to be able to join in on it with as little hassle as possible...

->Katie's OLD Idea on Event Staff<-
Event Management Members should be choosen/nominated by a mixture of the mods and members...maybe the members nominate (not volunteer, but, with their consent, nominate) members they think they would like to trust to manage and put together their events. Then the mods look over the nominees and pick out the ones that they think look exceptionally up to the task. Then, perhaps those picked out could choose, among themselves, who they think would be the bes leader. I know, "pick someone amongst ourselves" that's democracy...I'm pretty sure both America(where I'm from) and England try to to be as democratic as possible, so I would only assume the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts would do the same. Anyways, they choose a leader, maybe even a different one for each event they put together, when the event finally comes around, o0Pinkie0o could give the chosen one (<-hehe) temporary crew status to see the event through from set-up to start to end. This, of corse, is after the Event managers run their event idea (a detailed one, no vaugeness...) past the Headmistress. Oh, and any of those nominated who wern't chosen can just be a little lower on the Event food chain...then, maybe every term, the (I dunno what to call them...) the Event...uhh...people...can be re-nomiated

Who is IceeWitch??

IceeWitch has never been a member of HPGoG, but I have. How could that be?? Well it's because I've had to switch accounts. My original account, katkepin, was once an active member here. Unfortunately I quit earlier this year because it was a new semester in school for me and I knew I wouldn't have soo much time to be as active as I was, and I didn't want to do that, esp. since I was a mod...actually I was a temp mod.
I helped organize the Christmas event with another former member EamaneLinwe. We both wanted to be Head Elf and for a while we were. I want to do what I did the first time I was a member and that was help as much as I can around the guild. I also helped with the Dueling Club, among other things.

I've missed this guild alot... I've lurked around to see what new discussions you guys had in the Discussion forum a few times(I think I gave a little bit of an idea for that). I know 8 months is a really long time and I can't wait to get reacquainted with you guys!

Hi Icee!

@ mods and guild in general:

By the way, I have invited an old member (^) back to the guild to hopefully help-out again. She's been very patient with me and originally asked to come back in April or May. Anyways, she is hoping to come back to her Head Elf position, which I think would be fantastic.

However, I would like to change the duties of the Head Elf.
I'm think, and Icee has agreed with me, that the Head Elf should be more of a welcome wagon. He/she should act like a mod, yes, but should do so much more than that; promote elf activity, maybe plan things or activities for elves, and, most importantly to me, give our new members a voice in discussions(because many elves either don't know where to speak their mind or else don't think it's their place to do so, being so new).

I think Icee would be fabulous at this. But, seeing as how the other mods have more than proved that they deserve a say in guild decisions, I decided I would open this idea to everyone. (I even invite other guild members to comment on the idea.)

I'd love to have her! ^_^ Could she help me with events? That way house elves will be more included. We could add a week to the beginning of the planned christmas celebration and have just the house elves allowed in as like a "pre-christmas" party, since they usually do some work on christmas, then they can participate more during the actual party too and...I think we should sticky the Giggling Pear because it's kind of like the house elf common room and - GO HEAD Elf!

KT and Angil have nearly summarized all my thoughts!
[x] The Giggling Pear does work as a common room so it should be stickied for the elves!
[x] We did something similar to that at last year's Christmas event! Maybe we could do a topic like that for all the Harry Potter oriented events. Halloween is big in the HP series so how about with that? If you need a helping hand I'm glad to help!
[x] KT mentioned everything we discussed (and thanks for the compliments!)
but I just want to add that I could also help promote any guild sponsored activities for anyone. Contests and fun activities could really help spark involvement in the guild

I was wondering if The Giggling Pear would be stickied could I re-make it or what? I had some good ideas for the thread
like "Elf of the Week" and other blooming ideas for it.

I don't like the idea of re-making the giggling pear, but i guess it makes the most sense to do. Anyhow. Just don't delete the other one, whatever you do! Put it in the Archives, but dont delete it! And then I say it's ok to remake it. And as for event threads, we have an event forum, and planning for the Halloween Event is currently underway, so please go there to give your input, and we can decide the best tasks for you there, k? Also, it'd be great if you PMed me to discuss some secret stuff for the event... ninja
