"I'll go and look for some." she said and disappeared into the trees. Although she did look for wood, she progressed slowly as what she really wanted was some time alone to think. He confused her; she wasn't sure she liked the experience. She picked up another piece of wood and leant against the trunk of a tree. His skin was dark; she had known he was one of the Haradrim, but it had never really occured to her before what that meant. He was a natural ally of her enemies: yet she would trust him with her life. She slid down the trunk a little. If she could befriend the haradrim, why not orcs? She shook her head. It was impossible! Well, what made him different then? She considered the question carefully. He was a challenge to her personal beliefs and a threat to her peace of mind. Yet she had to admit to herself that despite evrything she did like him. She sighed. She had never felt so confused about a man before. When did everything become so complicated? she wondered.

Van watched her as she went into the woods, and smilled, she wasn't bad, for an elf. He walked thru the forrest, staying withen sight of the clearing, these woods made him uneasy. He was always told of the myths about this forrest, but he never believed them, how could he. He and others within his company had guarded orcish partys as they harvested it before, and no 'ents' ever showed. He soon had an impressive arm load of wood and went back to the clearing, watching for the elf.

Elrothiel returned several hours later, with a very small amount of wood considering how long she'd been gone. She dumped it beside the fire and looked guiltily at the large stack of wood he had collected while she was gone. "The ents already know they are here, but do not object to our staying." she said. "I think that there is something happening up near Isengard so they are not worrying about us. There seems to be an unusual amount of movement. I wonder what's going on." She sat down, cross-legged, and stared thoughtfully into the fire.

Van looked at her. 'How are you able to tell that there's been movement among them? Did you...see them?' he asked her, resisting the urge to unstrap his spear. Though he still had a hard time beleiving in them, he didn't want to take the chance of running into one that didn't want him around. Instead, he rummaged thru his pack finding only a few berries, roots, and a canteen of water. He didn't have the time to restock from when he gave his food to the orcs.

She smiled. "Mostly only when they want to speak to me. But I know this area. There used to be more thickly populated areas. And there are subtle signs of their movement that you learn when you get to know the people. I knew them for a while. Many are sleeping now." Her smile faded in remembrance.

Van nodded. 'So if they have been moving, where to...and, why?' he asked. He was becoming less shure that they didn't exist, she seemed fairly dead set on her belife on them being actual creatures. And if they were moving like she said they were, there had to be a reason that would make them do that.

Elrothiel shrugged. "I'm not sure." she answered, "but they're heading in the direction of Isengard. There's a meeting-place near there so they could be having a moot or they could want to observe Saruman's activities. They must have noticed the large group of orcs that passed close to the borders and the way they were butchered by the Rohirrim. They probably know some of what Saruman's up to by now. The question is what are they going to do about it?"
She poked the fire again absently, before taking out some of the meat. "Are you any good at cooking?" she asked.

Van nodded. 'I cant do anything special with it, but I can cook it if you want, problem is, I dont have a pan. I have a pot we could make a stew, but we would need other things as well for it to taste good.' he offered to her. He had lived by himself for quite a while now, most of it spent out side, so he did know how to cook, but the lack of equipment prevented him from cooking how he normally did.

She nodded. "I'm hopeless at it." she confessed, "but I'll find you herbs and things if you need them. I don't have a pan anymore but I do have a herb bag and I can recognise herbs."

Sila, how had been being quite until tehn offered her own sachtale. "I have a few rations, just what the Mirkwood archers get noramlly. You can use them if you find anything interesting."

Van took the satchel that Sila had offered. There were some carrots and onions. He looked up at them, 'Well, Elrothiel, I can start the stew with these, but if you and Sila want to go looking for herbs or vegitables we could put in here, it would make it all the better.'. After saying this, he took out his pot and threw the food into the pot and poured out all his water he had. Then, Van set up the small rack that held the pot above the fire, finally setting the pot over the fire as well.

Elrothiel climbed to her feet. "What sort of herbs do you want? I can look for general ones but if you want anything specific..." She wished again that she wasn't quite such an indifferent cook. "Are you coming Sila?"

Van was getting ready to throw more wood in but paused as he looked up at her. 'Honestly, I'll eat anything, taste isn't a factor for me. But anything you two feel would be a good adition, I'll throw in, just be shure your not gone long, they will need time in the pot to get the flavor out.' After this, he went back to throwing wood on the fire, making shure he threw in the oldest and driest of the logs in first to prevent dark smoke.

She nodded. "I'll have a look then and see what I can find." She pushed aside the overhang and disappeared into the foliage.
