Callista smiled. "Good. Now seal that with a safeguard and start the next layer, one where information goes that is important, but not as important as the one before. Keep working that way until you have the most worthless information on the outside, stuff like sunshine burns and snow is cold. Seal each layer with a safeguard, and then I'll teach you a new one to seal the last layer with."

Callista couldn't help smiling. "It is wonderful. And after last night, I could use a rejuvinating bath." She lowered herself gracefully into the pool and sank down low in the water, letting out a deep sigh of contentment as she did.

Callista caught Valzar's smile out of the corner of her eye. She wasn't sure what to make of it. Valzar hardly ever smiled. He must be content. She smiled and sank down below the water, feeling the warmth all over her tired body. She had paid for sleeping above ground last night, but she wasn't about to let Valzar know that.

Valzar continued practicing, arranging and rearranging his thoughts, compartmentalizing all of his knowledge until he felt confident in this newly learned ability. Does your mind always work like this? he asked opting to use the mental path to better master that skill.
