[Sorry for the wait, guys]
When Hanabira said that Tenmoki-sensei had passed her, Kane's heart leaped - albeit with a feeling of uncertainty. But like Hana and Tanu, all thoughts were put aside for the time being when Shin arrived! Just by looking at him, though, Kane could tell that he wasn't packed for a day's team activities. He was carrying way too much for that, and his expression was all wrong. He listened seriously as Shin explained his situation and said his goodbyes to them. So Shin wanted Hana to take his place... but wasn't she in a team already? Turning to her for a moment, though, Kane could tell that something had gone awry with that. Hanabira was already beginning to show signs of agreement and Kane started to think of a cool way to agree. But Shin was more important now. Kane nodded at Shin with a smile, his gaze conveying more than words ever could in this situation. Kane didn't profess to know Shin as well as Hanabira, but he could sympathise with the boy. They'd both lost their mothers, after all.
"Good luck," Kane said with a smile just as Shin was beginning to walk away. He wasn't especially loud, so he didn't know if Shin heard, but he knew that Shin knew that this was what all his friends in Shimagakure would be wishing for him anyway. When Shin waved, Kane raised an arm up high and waved back, ending with a one-fingered salute. It was really an abrupt goodbye, that was for sure. But Kane was glad that there actually was a goodbye. Looking around at his team, he chuckled inwardly to see the tough Kun'Kumo tearing up, before turning away to give her some time to pretend it never happened. He looked towards Hanabira, hoping maybe to comfort her since she'd been really close to Shin. It seemed that she'd taken his advice close to heart, though, because the first thing she asked him was to fill up the void in his team. Kane's smile widened into the toothy grin more often than not reserved for his sister.
"Of course, Hanabira," he said. Various big-brother stock phrases were playing across his head, like You know I could never say no to you, Hana and Now I can protect you |

Sorri had transported his way into a sand dune with just his sand cover head popping out and watching the others from down along the beach. His hands were trembling from over use. Covered in scratches and splinters along all his fingers and his palms, and now that his adrenaline Had died down the pan was gripping him. The ibazi climbed his way out and walked over to the shore's wave to clean off the blood hoping the sea salt would at least cleanse the wounds, if not slow the bleeding. Swing up his head and shaking his hands dry. He had looked over at the squad he had just retreated from..he'd have to beat them beat them all at once to redeem himself..ah well. Maybe the Lagoon would have some fish for him to catch. He could have stayed and conversed with them. shared the fact that people leave the island without returning all the time...but who really wants to hear that?..

Yuki slowed down her sprint towards the shoreline as the boats came into view. The boat from the chunin exams was indeed back, along with a boat carrying Nara Shinobu. After reading all the mail that had been brought into the village this morning, Yuki had a feeling that the aspiring shinobi boy would be leaving to go back home. Shin had too much heart to become a true shinobi. She smiled as she saw Hanabira, Tanu, Kiba and Kane at the shoreline together. Yuki couldn't have picked out a better replacement for the team! "Well, I see that your squad got the news," Yuki spoke as she approached the group just as Kane said he wouldn't go easy on her. Putting her hands on her hips, Yuki took her 'down to business' stance. "You won't have time to remorse over Shin's leaving, because I need you to start training today," the woman said as she handed Kane a scroll that she had been holding since she arrived. "We've received reports from the 'Kun Kumo's about Samurai Order activity in their area. I need you to get acquainted with one another, because you'll be sent out on the mission tomorrow night," the anbu said to the group as she then turned to Kane. "I suggest you get them started on some Genin Teachings or perhaps sharpen their skills with some techniques," Yuki said as she tapped her hands on her hips. "Any questions?" she asked Kane more than the students.

If there were another person besides Kiba and Shin that Tanu could stand to be around on this island, it would be Hanabira. She had made the girl cry before, but the Yamanaka had earned the respect from Tanu to be called by her first name. The ordeal of losing Shin mixed with the gain of Hanabira seemed to balance out Tanu's fiery emotions, so that she could turn back around to face everyone. "I'd rather have you than that weak Nara anyways!" Tanu shouted hoping Shin could hear her tough tone from the boat leaving port. The 'Kun Kumo turned towards the principal of the academy as she approached the group. The wicked witch had already known of Shin's leaving and still let them form the squad? Tanu spit at the ground with that thought as the woman began to speak. The moment her clan was mentioned though, Tanu put aside her tough facade for a moment. There wasn't any bad news from her clan, but only news about the Samurai Order? "What's the Samurai Order?" Tanu asked dumbly, not reading the newspaper to hear about the clan's attacks, not listening to people talk about the attack on the earth country from the group.

He could hardly believe it. For a moment Kiba felt like the world dissapeared around him as he watched Shin sail off into the distance and became just a speck on the horizon and then was gone all together. We were going to become such good friends... he thought to himself as he stared blankly into the distance. He tried to, as quickly as possible, shake himself out of it and focus back on his squad which he now learned comprised oh himself, Tanu and Hannabira. Funny thing, just a moment ago the guy-to-girl ratio had been two to one and now all of a sudden it was one to two. Kiba liked these odds considerably better he had to admit. No, his mind did not really drift to such trivial matters this quickly, rather his attention was quickly arrested by Yuki and her reports of trouble from the Samurai Order. The dark eyes of the Raiken widened at the news. "Samurai Order..." he whispered to himself. The words aroused all sorts of nostalgic thoughts in Kiba's mind. More shocking than this, however, was that they would be on a mission concerning this Order tomorrow nigth! Was he really ready yet? He was incredibly nervous and, in his opinion, they could not start training soon enough.

Yearning for a pat on the shoulder or ruffle of the hair, Hanabira smile softly as Kane made the promise that he wouldn't go easy on her. She knew that any contact of endearment between her and Kane would be inappropriate since they were family, so the girl added a nod to her smile to show Kane that she understood. As her olive eyes looked back over to the sea where Shin was sailing away, Yuki approached the group. Hanabira listened to what the woman had to say and could hardly believe just how fast-paced the shinobi world was! Shin had just left with not a single notice, Hanabira had joined the squad within seconds of that and now they were to train and leave for a mission tomorrow? A little nervous and a little scared, Hanabira brought her hands up to her neck and began rolling the necklace that Shin had made her between her fingers. She had never been on a mission before. As Tanu asked what the Samurai Order was, Hanabira was glad that she could offer some information.
"The Samurai Order is a band of Samurai Clans that have formed together in order to keep the tradition of Bushido alive. They were once guards of Daiymos and honored in the streets, but now since the Shinobi era is beginning to reign, their way of life is slowly diminishing. At the Chunin Exams they declared war upon Shinobi's and the countries that supported them... Right, Sensei?" Hanabira asked Kane as she turned to him, calling him sensei for the very first time.

Kane's mouth fell slightly ajar as he processed the news. First day of being a team and they were being told that they would leave on a mission tomorrow. However, he recovered himself quickly and took the scroll from Yuki. So it was those samurai again, those who caused all that havoc in Hanton during the tournament. These samurai sure moved quick and Kane wondered, just for a second, if all this concentrated activity had been orchestrated to lure them. But they were still being sent on a mission nonetheless and it was for the good of Tanu's clan, so they couldn't really say no.
"All right, Yuki-san," he answered. "Thanks. No questions... yet," he had to admit, giving Yuki a lopsided smile. "I'll do my best," he promised her nonetheless, and turned to his team. They were talking about the samurai and Kane was just in time to hear Hanabira's explanation. She really was smarter than she took credit for.
"That's correct, Hanabira," he said, marvelling at her knowledge. He'd only acquired this knowledge yesterday on the boat himself! "They seem to perceive their livelihood as being threatened by us shinobi, and they see aggression as the only way," he explained to his team. "They have a different fighting style, too," he drew upon his knowledge from his childhood in the mainland, from seeing samurai patrol the streets and fight bad guys. "Bushido is almost all about honour. Some samurai see our way of fighting as deceitful and dishonourable," Kane said with a shrug. Well, fighting from the shadows was kind of the whole essence of a shinobi... Then he realised that Yuki was still standing there!
"Thanks for... everything, Yuki-san," he said to her. She hadn't really done a lot for him just now, had she, except give them a mission, but Kane felt the need to thank her anyway. "We'll be taking our leave now," he told her politely, cracking a boyish grin and elaborating cheerfully, "Gotta train hard for tomorrow. Come on, guys." He moved away from Yuki, making his way to the village, checking back to see if his team was following. Then he seemed to change his mind and stopped suddenly.
"Hey guys..." he said tentatively, before easing up into a confident half-smile. "So I figure that we should probably get to know each other well. You probably know each other well already, but it doesn't change the fact that I know close to nothing about you. Battle style, personality, favourite food..." Kane made the hand gesture for 'and so on'. "I was thinking a little team bonding talk as we're practicing chakra control on the beach." Kane's hand suddenly flared up with a bright ice blue hue and it didn't take a genius to realise that it was his chakra. He brought his other hand close to that hand and played around with the shape of his chakra, giving Kiba, Tanu and Hanabira a little demonstration. "Chakra molding," he said. "My personal favourite control exercise. What do you say?"

"Oh," Tanu said as if what Hanabira had just explained really wasn't that big of a deal. She then proceed to put her hands on her hips and puff out her chest. "Well! If its the Kun 'Kumo land they're muscling in on, my clan will be able to handle it! I really don't even see why we need to go," Tanu said with a large grin as Kane began leading them towards the village. "Good thing they're not muscling in on Raiken territory. If you're elders are anything like the one back at your mansion, then you'd be in for it," Tanu said, mocking Kiba as she followed along until Kane called their attention. "Chakra molding?" Tanu asked with a bit of disgust as she remembered the only chakra controlling exercise she had ever done in her life and that was the exercise where she figured out what element she had. "I don't even think I can bring my chakra out like that..." Tanu mumbled to herself, but then realized she had said it out loud and tensed up with embarrassment. Making a screwy face, Tanu concentrated hard and tried to do as Kane did. Surprisingly, she managed to get her chakra out. It was a light red, almost pinkish as a very little amount was visible. Looked like a thin mist between her hands more than anything. "Ha," she said with a grin. "I'm not so bad! Let's see you do it, Raiken! All you do is play with your stick, I bet you don't even know nothin' about chakra," Tanu teased Kiba, but didn't even say a word to Hanabira, because she knew that the girl was probably very adapt in her chakra control...

Hanabira couldn't help but admire Tanu a little as she took the pride of the clan's strength on her chest. The fiery girl wasn't nervous at all about the Samurai Order, but then again... Tanu truly didn't understand who the Samurai Order was. Hanabira had been reading the paper every day since she could read and the formation of the Samurai Order was much larger than Shimagakure and its allies. As Kane acknowledged the Samurai Order feeling that aggression was the only way to react to the rising threat of the Shinobi era, Hanabira felt a stronger fear of them than before. A whole independent organization being led by nothing by aggression... It was a frightening thought to Hanabira. Her mind changed thought as Kane suggested some training. Luckily, it would be some training that Hanabira was good at. With a smile on her face as Kane prompted them for getting to know one another while training, Tanu began challenging Kiba. Hanabira smiled lightly as she tried to bring out her chakra. "The Raikens have special chakra that can manipulate lightning with ninjutsu," Hanabira said, to praise the Raikens while Tanu tried to batter them down. "I'm more of a genjutsu user," Hanabira said softly as her olive eyes concentrated on the blue of her chakra.

The blue glow of the chakra faded into the air like a fog as the adopted Yamanaka lost her control. Hanabira hadn't practiced with her chakra in a long time. She had been spending time conditioning and practicing with her new weapon rather than her genjutsu or chakra control. The soft spoken girl tried to put aside the thoughts of her teammates for a second to truly focus on her control. Bringing out the blue of her chakra once again, Hanabira tried to hold it this time and not let it disperse. Her concentration paid off as Hanabira was able to keep her chakra in her hands.

Tanu laughed hard as Hanabira said that the Raikens have a special chakra. "There's nothing special about the Raikens! The Kun 'Kumo's are special! Once we get to the fire country, I'm gonna ask my elders to teach me an awesome technique! Its called the Burning fist of the Cherry Blossoms technique!" Zoku said as she tried to mold her chakra into a fist. "Its gonna be an awesome technique where I can attack with flaming fists! Us Kun' Kumo's have a special plasma that will keep our skin from being burnt," Zoku said as she talked up her clan over Kiba's once again. "Hey! Wasn't Kage-sama a genjutsu master?" Tanu asked Hanabira, as she referred to Uchiha Ichi's talent in genjutsu. The girl didn't know the Kage for long, but he had managed to calm the flames brewing against the Kun' Kumo clan here on Shimagakure.

Hanabira smiled as Tanu spoke of her clan. The technique she described to the group sounded like the perfect type for the girl. When she mentioned a special plasma, it perked Hanabira's interest a little bit. She didn't know about this special plasma and had never heard of it. Then again, she hadn't been very close friends with any of the Kun Kumo's. As Tanu mentioned the Kage, Hanabira blushed slightly. "Mm, but I can't be compared to him," Hanabira said shyly with a nod as she remembered that Ichi had been a genjutsu master. She would love to be in his league some day, but Hanabira could never dream that big. She was sure that she wouldn't make it past Chunin, but that was just fine with her. Commanding a squad, working at the clinic or even teaching classes at the academy would be a wonderful job for her one day! "I merely want to be a sensei or medical assistant to Tenmoki-sensei," Hanabira said referring to Yuki or Aya! They were both very gifted in the arts of eseijutsu.

[Woohoo! I'm training too!]
Kane settled down and listened to his team for a moment as they talked. They already seemed to have a rapport with each other. Tanu and Kiba seemed to be firm frenemies, well, maybe leaning over more to the friends side, as evidenced by that lopsided fight with Sorri he'd seen just now. And although Hanabira seemed the odd one out amongst the genin, it was only by a little. She was already fitting in nicely with the established Tanu and Kiba pair. His ears perked in interest as he heard about Kiba's special lightning chakra, as well as the Kun'Kumo plasma that gave them resistance to fire. "That sounds really cool," Kane commented as Tanu told them about the technique she was going to learn. "Am I right in thinking that both of you are close-range fighters, Tanu, Kiba, and that you're a long-range one, Hanabira?" He hadn't forgotten about his chakra while he'd been listening to the two girls talk and he'd been just playing around with it for now, unwilling to commit himself to a major artistic endeavour. His chakra pulsed quickly and seemingly without pattern, as Kane changed its shape to whatever he felt like doing, from a sphere to a longer, flatter shape to a knife, before he squashed it all up again and let it float a small distance from his hands, like a cloud.

[Sorry, busy week! XP]
Chakra molding, eh? Sounded fun to Kiba! He would show Tanu! Kiba had excellent chakra control. He inhaled a great, confident breath and summoned up a shapeless form of yellow chakra into his right palm and began trying to tame it by moving his fingers. It was actually much easier than the young Raiken initially anticipated and was quite proud. As for the slam on his clan by Tanu he let it pass for a moment and enjoyed the compliment that Hana payed him and then to Kane's question. "Yes, that's about right Kane-san! Of course you can hardly put Tanu on the same level as a Raiken, but we are both close up fighters..." He snickered a bit and glanced at Tanu. Trying to maintain his focus on his now bright yellow chakra he formed it into the shape of a larfe shuriken. This was really quite a fun activity. He considered himself fortunate to have such a good group leader. With him at the helm of their group they would certainly all get stronger soon!
