Ahren scowled and stuck his hands deep into his pockets, muttering under his breath in elvish He was clearly angry about something, though he didn't seem inclined to disclose what it might be.
Elrohir sighed and released his son's shoulder warily.
"Just don't let him loose in the forest on his own," he requested of Lin, "because if he runs off again I will be most displeased ... but his mother will be furious."
Haradhel after all had the worse temper of the two of them - by far - yet luckily, none but Elrohir had seen her lose it before.

Was this a common thing? She couldn't help but wonder, since the word again was used. Though she could understand why he shouldn't be running off into the forest though.
"Okay! I have an idea," Lin told Elrohir, "We'll go and see if Halmir and Arthael are home, because it's been a long time since I've seen them, and Halmir is always good to talk to."

A slow grin spread over Elrohir's face, and he nodded slowly.
"Yes, yes, I think that would be a good idea indeed," he agreed, perhaps a little overly cheerfully. "Yes ... good. Ahren, behave, stay with Lin, and don't be rude."
Ahren grunted his acknowledgment of his father's words, and Elrohir nudged him in the back.
"That was rude," he stated flatly.
Ahren scowled up at his father. "Fine," he growled. He wrenched his shoulder out from his father's grip and started towards the door. "Come on, Lin."

"He needs more sugar," Lin comment softly before hopping off the bench.
She gave her Mommy a hug and ran to catch up with Ahren. Taking his hand once she was caught up, because she didn't want to lose him. After all, Elrohir was trusting her to keep him occupied.

Ahren jerked his hand out of hers and dug it deep into his pocket, where he considered it to be "safe". He kicked at the ground as he walked, his shoulder-length black hair falling into his face. He made no movement to brush it aside, but kept his eyes on the ground as he went, mumbling to himself under his breath all the while.

Lin was not at all distrubed or bothered by this. Instead of holding his hand she looped her arm with his. If he couldn't be cheerful then she was going to try to be cheerful for the both of him. After all she was not going to do what Celebor did with her when she was upset and yell, that would not improve his mood she knew from experience.
The path towards the barracks was a familiar one though, she kind of realized, she didn't know which room was theirs. Oh dear...

Ahren pushed the door open and stepped inside, not particularly caring whether or not it hit Lin again as it closed. To be honest, he wasn't caring about anything at all at the moment, except for the fact that he was being stuck there once again, only this time being forced to do things that he really didn't want to do. He really wasn't impressed that Lin was being so persistent in holding onto him in some manner, but rather than lashing out as he had done to his father, he chose to ignore the fact.

Lin had to duck quickly in to keep the door from hitting her. The only thing to keep her from telling him he was being mean was the fact she was sure it would only make it worse. Besides it looked like he knew where he was going, so she would trust him to lead.
Though if she was going to be honest with herself, she wanted to give him a Miyu style whack, only she kind of lacked plushies at the moment.

Ahren led the way down the hall, just about dragging Lin along with him, and stopped at the last door on the right, just before the stairs. There, he knocked with his foot, keeping his hands buried deep inside his pockets, and waited, still scowling as deeply as ever.

It was barely a moment later when the door was opened by Arthael, and though she looked surprised to see Ahren and Lin there, she opened the door further.
"Well well," she smiled mysteriously, "this is a surprise. Come on in."

"Arthael!" Lin let go of Ahren and launched herself at the woman to hug her.
She looked up from where she was holding Arthael, "The butterflies said you're going to have a baby... well they didn't say exactly, but they caught some of what Halmir was saying. He must have been really excited because his speech was longer than usual."
And that was saying something.

Ahren took advantage of the fact that Lin had let go of him and slunk off to sit on one of the comfortable chairs, drawing his legs up close and folding his arms across his chest, his every movement screaming out that he was sulking.

Arthael was taken by surprise by both of the children, and she smiled down at Lin awkwardly as she reached past her to close the door again.
"Well, it does seem that you have some useful friends here," she remarked, putting one hand on Lin's shoulder. "I wish I could have some animals telling me what was going on."
She glanced back over at Ahren, then knelt close to Lin and whispered, "What is going on with him?"

"Daddy, Celebor and Celeborn just left for a Hunt," Lin explained softly, "And Ahren wanted to go, and of course he can't. So he's a big grump, and Elrohir asked me to keep him busy, but I don't know if I can do that."
She shrugged a bit, after all it was his fault he was being a grump. So what if he couldn't go this time, after all he was small. Not as small as her, but still.

"I see," Arthael murmured softly, glancing over at the boy again. "Well ... he seems all right where he is for the moment, why don't we just let him sit there for a bit, and if he doesn't get any less grumpy I'll see what I can do?"
She smiled at Lin.
"How does that sound?"
