Mathius removed his lips and lay his forehead against hers with his nose pressing lightly against hers...He spoke softly to her as he smiled..."Like I said before Cap'n...will I be courtmartialed for insubordination...?"

Merlyn felt an overwhelming feeling of joy. She felt as giddy as a child in a candy shop. She felt him hold the kiss, and she was just fine with it.

Mathius looked at her with a strange expression..."isnt that something...I do not even remember the color my eyes are supposed to be...is it a good thing that I have blue in my eyes...?"He asked gently inquiring...he continued to hold her close and returned his gaze to the stars...

Merlyn smiled. "It depends on your views...My family is superstious to a t, and blue in the eyes mean good luck for you..." she said. She looked at him. "Do you like stargazing?" she asked.

Mathius gave her another smile as he looked into the sky..."I do, in these times of war...I think of how funny it is that we can destroy the world, and the stars will always look beautiful...He gazed into her eyes...he gave the most gentle look into her eyes he had ever given and spoken the softest and gentlest he could...

Ashle looked into his eyes. "When I was a little girl, my great-grandmother used to tell me stories about a time when technolgy thrived. It was before the blackout. She said that her great-grandmother lived it. She said that there where things called computers and phones that you could take with you..." she said. She had a kind look in her eyes, one of loving and caring.

Mathius returned the gaze..."I have heard of those times before as well...they bring me heartache to know that we had technology to do wonders...and we screwed up and had this war...only to rebuild and screw up again..."He had a sudden jolt within his body...one of pain...
