((Haha. Don't hate me cause I'm rich.
Damn right you will!
I do as well. G'night all. I might throw in a bit more on the Wiki, but I did a damn lot of it tonight.))

((Wow, the OOC is really out of hand... In any case, the metagamey perspective would be less because of exploiting information that the characters should have than improper word choices to maintain flow when the roleplaying you guys are doing seems to indicate a lack of knowledge they might or might not have. IE: Perception checks.

If your character has high perception, roleplay it properly. This may add 3 to 5 sentences to the post, but ultimately, it enriches detail. Understandably, this is silly in the middle of a combat sequence, but in the first few rounds, it really, really helps the other players stay calm. Left out information is assumed not to be there in all cases, not assumed to be there.

Sorry for my tiny rant this time. I'm not all that irate, I analyzed what I was irritated with. I perceived things incorrectly, to a degree. While no true metagaming was going on, the RP is not as polished as it could be. Combat used to be slightly more detailed, earlier in the RP. Part of this is likely because several people have quite a few minions of rank D or below and don't want to describe the action. This does not explain decreased descriptions with main characters though.

Speed of RP is less important than quality of RP, in my personal opinion. Thus, I would prefer it if there was a little more polish in the RP. For example, the "Fine, he's throwing fireballs." could have been: "Noticing, the lack of earth to manipulate quickly, Fyrin switched to hurling fireballs at Samuel." Big difference, no? If such was the case, half of this argument never would have occurred. That particular entry poked me in the wrong spot. sad

RP with a calm head, RP with details in mind. This will get us everywhere when trying to come to conclusions. However, "details" does not mean determinative details about attacks. That would be godmodding. "Details" means a bit more than that. A rant on details is not what I was ranting for, so I'll stop here, and hope you seek out appropriate sources for the definition of "details" outside of the strong determinatives of attack.))

((Just as a side note, the argument that inter-PC combat is something you are rusty at is kind of silly. If you are allowed treat PC and NPC combat differently, the GM is either being lenient with you, or has a unique playstyle. Most cases though, its the former. All combat uses the same conventions. Assuming character stats is silly, the GM is there for a reason.

Another side note. There is a reason why PCs who are thaumaturges do not use magic as their primary form of combat, or are set as reserve members of the team, for when things really get ugly. This is because they cannot possibly anticipate every event before it occurs. Thus, they must either rely on gear or minions + healing magic to work in combat. Any additional magic in their repertoire is just fluff, and is highly unlikely to be anywhere close to limitless.))

((Question, what is Josh armed with at the moment? Having to search 50+ pages for gear changes is retarded. This is part of the "details" thing, but I know I'm guilty of this one too, so its sort of fine. Its still something we all need to work on though. Especially if we plan on running a subforum-class RP. Examples are important.))

Samuel spotted Josh's intercept and swung for his side, launching a high mana-density fireball at Sebastian as he did so. Seeing Darius' approach after the fireball, Samuel started chanting once more.

((Josh is armed with the Titan's Fists and Angel Channeling, just like he has been the last Entirety of the RP.

razz ))

Josh caught the blade in a cross block with his gauntlets, his arms buckling as the angelic shielding fell to the phase blade. He threw the blade back and he and Samuel disengaged.

Sebastian deflected the fireball to the side with his own elementalism, immolating a zombie. The zombie began to attempt to grab a hold of him. He responded by punching its face, his infamous, eponymous stone hands. Its neck snapped back and it collapsed to the ground. Sebastian Stonehands then grabbed its foot and threw it at Samuel.

One of Fyrin's skeletons cried out as three or four zombies mobbed it, tearing its bones apart.

Takeshi smirked and leveled his pistol at the skeleton's head. Gertrude took Samuel's side, completing their screen of their resident support evoker.

((I'll assume that you just want me to keep going. If not, please correct me.))

Why the 65th floor? Why not the basement? Jacob complained to himself as he continued his ascent.
He was making good progress, counting off the floors as he passed them.
33.
34
35.
A little over halfway there. Jacob monitored his breathing constantly and slowed his pace to a quickened walk every other floor to avoid wearing himself out before he got to the 65th floor.

((True, true. But a thaum like Marco is more combat oriented, because the main thing that he has stored is his Force Bullet, which is a purely combat spell. Just saying.))

After reloading, Joe continued shooting at the zombies in the spot where the sigil had been. Marco joined in.

((Devath, I'm not being lazy for lazy's sake, I'm depressed. That's all.

They can a. bend the spells a little. I know this is true, I've done it before to no objection. And, b. they can cover a lot of circumstances. But.))

Darius began maneuvering around Samuel, moving towards his side, engaging and disengaging whoever he had to as fast as possible. He would put Samuel at the right angle of a right triangle with Samuel, Darius, and Josh.

Paul, having apparently shaken off the zombies, twisted towards Takeshi and fired a few shots as a distraction at the very least; Vladimir, who was the recipient of a potential round through the head, did three important things at once. A. He ducked. B. He shifted his soul's connection from his skull to, on impulse, his ankle. C. He returned fire and evoked wind to defend himself with as he prepared to roll clear.

George, the unlucky skeleton who was torn apart, was indeed torn apart. A few moments later, however, Fyrin had recovered his soul and placed it into another skeleton, one of those who had retreated, who proceeded to return and exact revenge on the zombies who had destroyed him.

((That's everyone, right?))

Jacob arrived at the 65th floor in about ten minutes ((ha, ha, time resynchronized)), passing several other vampires - about one every three floors.

((Keep in mind, the force bullet is a pathetically inflexable spell most of the time. biggrin ))

Several more zombies fell. Occasionally, fallen ones would rise again - the spot seemed to have moved on those, because the same spot no longer was vulnerable.

Unfortunately for Darius, Gertrude was covering his side.

Takeshi's shield from before took two more rounds. Takeshi ducked before the third round was fired, shattering the shield. As Vlad attempted to dodge, the zombies around him took him to the ground.

This time George was, instead, bodily carried away. Joe took out one of the zombies holding him up before the 3 remaining ones could get him around the corner.

George pulled the pin on at least five separate grenades, then let the zombies carry him towards his opponents.

Paul followed Takeshi, pulling single rounds at him. Vladimir pulled his knife and started slashing like a madman, lighting up his knife.

Darius fired a few rounds of water in Gertrude's general direction, preparing to unleash something harsher, and more physical. The water detonated to substantial effect.

The zombies and George fell apart in a storm of machine gun fire.

Gertrude took the water detonation at least as well as she took the fire ones. She seemed to have a very high degree of durability.

Takeshi wind-funneled Paul's bullets away as he dug through his pockets.

"Oh no you don't," Paul snapped, throwing gusts of air to throw Takeshi off balance. In the meantime he reloaded an empty magazine.

Darius rushed her to get further to Samuel's flank, not swinging a fist or attacking but getting closer for certain.

George would shortly be replaced, but Fyrin had to recover a little before moving the recovered soul into a new skeleton. The other three personal guards were more cautious, banding together to avoid getting rushed from locations they couldn't see.
PostPosted: Fri Feb 13, 2009 11:40 pm

"Halt!" he Takeshi snapped, throwing a ball to the ground. It bounced and formed another wall in front of him. He rummaged through his pockets more; it seems that hadn't been the main thing he'd sought.

Several zombies grabbed grenades from the equipment they'd died in and rushed the formation of skeletons, guns in one hand and grenades in the other.

Gertrude stood her ground, guarding Samuel's flank.

The formation of skeletons retreated, using their faster movement to stay clear of the zombies - if the zombies had heavy equipment too, the skeletons were in the end lighter but surely as physically strong. In the meantime they cooked off a lot of grenades and threw them into the rushing formation.

Paul moved at the wall, pulled flashbang from his vest, and then moved towards its edge, preparing to toss the flashbang around the corner and blind Takeshi.

Darius rolled up into a ball, spinning towards her and occasionally blowing low-mana detonations off of his skin to force her away. In the meantime he couldn't help but hum the Katamari Damacy theme quietly to himself.

((LAWL @ DARIUS))

Joe groaned. He felt so useless.
Marco, meanwhile, was trying to move Joe's platform a bit further back from the combat.
((I know FB is totally inflexible, that's what I was trying to say. But that isn't his only spell. wink ))

((Platform? Hun, the platform got turned into 'splodey stone. *blink blink*))
((Also, depressed about what? Come on, we're here to mock you for you. Seriously.))
((The other reason thaumaturges tend not to use magic as their primary form of combat is because of one, very, very, very strong influential factor. Laziness. smile If they have to prepare loads and loads of spells, it requires effort they don't wanna spend. Just a few powerful ones for a pinch and then watch the TV... Not all characters are likely to be super-devoted to magery.))

Samuel sidestepped the flying zombie and shrugged. Whatever. Finishing his chant, he watched as the floor beneath Gertrude and Darius turned a bright green. Swinging back around and failing to see Paul, Samuel kind of got the feeling that he'd been daydreaming in battle.

Naw, can't be.

Ehhhh?!?!?

...

Samuel took another overview of the situation, taking quick glances at the battlefield as a whole. Well... they're covered... And so are they... Spotting Marco attempting to drag Joe off, Samuel tossed a fireball at Marco's face.

((Venom, this is kind of what I meant. Missing combat phases because I'm not here is retarded. If I try to make up for it with subsequent attack phases, people go "EH?", and if I just step right back in, it feels really awkward. Meh. I see what you're trying to do, but hey, w/e.))
