EMP- Electro Magnetic Pulse: Disables almost every electronic device in the blast radius. There is a test EMP-Repelling device being created right now. The reason a nuke would cause an EMP is because as a missle would shoot this nuke in mid-air it would explode releasing massive amounts of Electrons which would smash together at massive rates and fall to the ground shorting out anything that runs on Electron feed back, thus Electronics would break down.

Mint: Hmm.... That's true, but if there was a nuclear war, it wouldn't matter who has the most, as long as nukes are used a lot of destruction is bound to happen stare . Actually, a place with a lot of nukes is going to suffer a lot more damage from a nuke that hits than will a place with no nukes....
As for Alaska being the safest part of the US.... Well, it makes sense... kind of. Alaska is the least populated and most isolated (apart from Hawaii). At the same time, residents there can escape over to Canada by land should something horrible happen (which people in Hawaii cannot do), but that'll be a major problem if Canada decided to attack the US. Furthermore, it is also the area of the US that is closest to Russia and it is also very rich in natural resources. If either Canada or Russia tried to attack us, they'd probably aim for Alaska first. If you think about, there are major pros and cons to any area confused .
