Minoru regarded the man's words with satisfaction. It appeared that the beacon of reason and understanding hadn't been extinguished yet.

"Well then I shall swear to its people. I am a member of this village as it stands now. Is Elruda-sama participating in the next Genin exams? I look forward to competing against my comrades. However, shall I go with you as well? I'm afraid I have nothing better to do until the exams. I would be honored to learn this village's history from the clan of its founders."

Minoru did want to fit in, but in a way that didn't compromise his beliefs. One day he would be an assassin, and that meant understanding the history and customs of the people he was with. He'd start with Konoha since he was becoming a ninja there. Everything else was secondary in the long run.

"Is there any way I can be of assistance to you two? I would like to show my dedication in any way that I can."

Tairu was feeling so much better now. After being on the brink of unconsciousness to being at his full vitality was like a sugar rush. Tairu flexed his muscles effortless and without pain. Looks like I should be getting to the training grounds now. Tairu thought. Hopefully the others have caught up by now. Tairu walked along the streets of the city and once again came across the building that looked as it had been partially demolished. I wonder what happened to it? The building simply captivated his stare, Tairu couldn't help but think about all of the scenarios that could of led to the building look like that. As he looked up at the destroyed building, many people angrily muttered underneath their breath as they walked by.

I wonder what, or who could be in there? he thought. The building could only hold his interest for so long though before he started moving again.

Takeshi emerged from the vast openness of the Open Meadows to find himself again staring into the dense concrete jungle of Konoha. It had been a while since he had walked these streets; the last time he had, his almost died in a tragic fire. It brought sadness to his heart, and without Kiyoshi to take his mind of the situation, it only made him more depressed. Takeshi sighed, and his eyelids began to droop. Takeshi was returning to his usual sadness, since he had no one to lift his spirits up. And walking the streets with everyone watching him in scorn would not help. As he carried a brisk stroll, he could hear several villages whispering about him. "Is that the kid that lit his house on fire?" he heard one women say. "Yeah, I heard that they found his mother's body in the wreckage. Do you think he killed her?" a man standing adjacent to the women said. Takeshi wished that Yarotai hadn't taken all his weapons; he wanted to put a kunai through those bastards heads. But Takeshi would just have to suck it up and keep walking.

Takeshi decided against climbing up to the roofs and sprinting to the library, and instead kept his brisk walking pace. He wasn't in the mood for it. Besides, he was already near the library, so doing so now would just be a waste of time. He rounded the corner, and the library was in sight. He sighed, as he had only managed to kill about another ten minutes.

Shirayuki Kaede - Academy Student

Theme: Não Chora Menina

((Sorry, sloppy response because I'm rushed. I'll have an uber post to make up for this on Monday or Tuesday.))

Mikage simply frowned at the girl's words. Yes, she remembered Rasen. To believe... she once did that. But the problem with humans, the problem with growing bitter with age from the harsh flow of time, was trust after having that trust broken is never completely regained. Like a scar that never fully heals. There were two types of outsiders that came to Konoha, the ones searching for a place to call home... and the ones that sought to destroy it from the inside. It was always the latter that was minor. Minor but very destructive and fatal. Konoha was a paradox, ideal philosophy, rose petals among the harsh thorns that was the shinobi world. Power. The power to assume a form of a person close to you. The power to manipulate one's subconsciousness. The power to manipulate mother nature. Shinobi had power and it wasn't hard to abuse power.

"Then I shall hold you to that oath, Senju."

She will attempt to... to trust. Just once, not just because of this little Hyuuga's words. But because she'd like to one day admit she's wrong in her pessimistic convictions. She'd like to realize those rose-colored dreams just once. Like to believe that this world she put her children into had some good and happiness to it. And not a hell. Or maybe its because she knows she's dying and would like to spend her last days seeing wondrous and colorful things before she departs from this world... instead of all the recent black death and white-hot flames and grey ashes. Whatever it is, she won't say her thoughts out loud. Not in front of these children, and especially not Kaede who wore the thickest rose-colored glasses.

Instead she curtly nods in a semi-psuedo acknowledgment of the Hyuuga-hime's words.

"Don't hesitate to come to me if you come across any problems adjusting in a new environment" and oh kami did the girl have problems "or you want company Kaede-chan."

A nod.

"Now, for your things..." A frown wrinkled the old woman's face as she scanned the room. Kaede steps over the wreckage to salvage possessions that she treasured most.

"Just the stuffed animal, books, and apples? You and your father should at least have a set of clothes too."

"Um... th-that's fine. I, I can..."

The kimono stained in ink was in the washing machine. It won't be clean until tomorrow and the other one was now covered with holes and ashes. But perhaps she could mend it... somehow. After she mends Shin-san.

"Nonsense. You two will be living over at the Senju Estate for more than just a day." Mikage drags the protesting girl over to her apartment. "I have some of my daughters' and my deceased husband's old clothing you two can use."

Kaede's eyes nervously flitted across the room, before landing on the coffee table.

"Oh no... Hyuuga-san's g-g-gift!" the girl picks up the basket of thread and cloth. It was probably too late to give him the gift now. Eyes frowned at the clock up on the wall.

"Don't worry Kaede, we can still give it to him later."

Mikage returned with a bag full of clothing.

"B-bu-"

It was her turn to interrupt the girl in the middle of her speech. "Even if you give it to your classmate late, it's the thought that counts. Better something you put all your heart into than a gift that was rushed just for the sake of getting it done. Don't you think?"

"..."

The girl hesitantly nodded. The two of the returned to the remains of her... home. Back to the shinobi who were conversing in that room.

"We're ready." the elderly woman glances down at the little girl at her side. "Do you want me to come with you, Kaede-chan?"

"No, it's f-fine, Mikage-san."

Truthfully, the girl was... scared. Deathly scared. Not just because she'd be coming back to the hospital, but because she'd also be in a house full of strangers. Nobles. And, and... how do they normally eat? Sleep? How would she know how to act properly around them without offending anyone... They all live in giant, GIANT houses. What if she gets lost and no one finds her and, and...? But Mikage had already done enough for her. She couldn't hold her hand the entire way like a child, never mind that the little girl was a child.

He said his name was Minoru Ito right? It didn't... seem so foreign. So this was her classmate. He seemed to be very strong. Kaede's ears perked up on one of Hyuuga-hime's words.

Zephyr-JIJI?

Wait...

Her mind conveniently flipped rewound back to one of the conversations.

Wait...

Juugodaime?

Senju Zephyr?

.... Sempai?

As in the one she had rudely called by first name?

As in the one she had offered sake to?

As in the one she had said was like a princess?

THAT SENJU ZEPHYR!?

Zephyr. Zephyr was such a strange name. So his full name was Senju Zephyr... Strange, yet vaguely familiar, like she should know who this person was just by name. Yet her memory failed her. Stupid.

And now she knew what it was familiar.

Hokage.

Hokage.

Hokage.

Hokage.

SHE OFFENDED THE HOKAGE.

Another loud and horrified shriek echoed throughout the village.

Mikage winced and covered her ears. It's amazing how much sound this shy little girl could produce... if she put her all into it.

"WHATDOIDOWHATDOIDOWHATDOIDOMIKAGE-SAAAAAN!?"

"First calm down, Kaede-chan. What's wrong and STOP RUNNING!"

"I-I AM CAL-OOF!"

A chop. And the old lady caught the now unconscious girl in her arm. She had to do it, before the girl irritates her hand injury further or, kami forbid she trips again and hurts herself further! But there was a little trouble holding up the girl's weight. Damn her old age.

"Do you mind carrying this child to the hospital, Senju?" Mikage huffed, voice strained from trying to keep Kaede-chan falling to the ground.

"I would believe so." Responded Anzu smoothly, to Minoru's inquiry on Elruda's participation in the upcoming Genin Exams. Technically, she was already recognized as a shinobi...however. Ame and Konoha had different standards. And if Elruda was to climb ranks here...she would most likely not be exempt from having to retake Genin confirmation if she wished to gain ranks in this village. As for Minoru wanting to come along-...

"Of course."

"Oh! That's awful!" Exclaimed Elruda, to Mikage's words. "It's ok! Kaede-chan doesn't need to worry about clothes..."

"Quite right." Said Anzu, calmly. "Damages to her personal possessions will be taken care of too...and you need not to worry." Anzu gave the old woman a kindly smile here, guessing the old woman's worry that Kaede will not be suited with estate life.

"I'll help her around." He assured.

However, he was cut off when a deadly shrill scream escaped the quiet girl, and she was suddenly in more panic than she had been. Naturally, he didn't have the time to admire it, because the old woman took matters into her own hands (or rather, palms) and the girl collapsed unconscious.

"Not at all." He placed Elruda down, and warned the child very strictly. "Chiisai-hime-..."

"Elda doesn't want to have ears boxed again!" Protested the girl. "I'll be good!"

Rhaim kept his hands in his pockets and his eyes on the ground a little ways ahead of himself. His mind instantly began to wonder off to thoughts of what kind of food his mother would be preparing and where the best place to hide out from his sisters when they got home would be. The sound of Tenma's voice ringing up in a question definately caught him off guard. He had spent plenty of hours horsing around with other kids but spending an extended time with one person was still quite foriegn to him. He figured that it would just be something that he would have to get used to over time. He spoke back to her as he kept up his stroll.

"Well they'll swarm you at first. But that's just because they're easily excited. They'll ask alot of questions but leave you no time to answer. They'll either want to talk to you all night or they'll disappear right after dinner. They're all really nice though. You'll feel really welcome or really smothered. Nara women are always more energetic than the men. Kind of our curse I guess."

It was such a lovely day, not to mention the excitment that it had contained, and it seemed a shame not to take a chance to savor it. After all, it was a gift from the spirits. People bustled about the community, playing children and scents from the town center were being carried by the slight breeze and Tenma felt the all too familiar urge to explore. With a slight perk of her ears the girl caught Rhiam's voice and pulled her mind back to her body. As she attempted to comprehend the situation she was about to enter Tenma realized she had no idea where they were going. That was a note on her to do list: learn the layout of the city.

A nod of her head, though Rhiam couldn't see it vertically rocked her vision. "Well...this will be a new experience at least. Otherwise, I am not sure how to respond."

A woman passed by, rolling the baby stroller. She couldn't help but blink at the road... which seemed to look like some strange, strange path you'd see on a Candyland gameboard. A huge assortment of candy littered the streets, from sour gummy worms, to skittles, to candy canes, and oooh... was that dove chocolate? Upon seeing two strange men, the expression on her face soured. Then, she turned around and quickly away. Better go inform the police of these strange men!

"Can-can we not... hide out here so suspiciously!? People are looking!"

"Chill. Even if other people can see us, the pest will be coming from that direction. He won't be able to spot us."

"That's not what I'm talking about!"

"Well, that's all I'm concerned about. If the pest sees us, it'll start running. Do you want our hard work to go to waste!?"

"I just feel really stupid camping out like this. Like we're some sort of creepers that's all! If it's," if it's not pest control and they're actually doing something illegal "... if someone catches wind of this and they know our identities, it'll leave a bad impression on my wife and kid."

"Then put on a henge no jutsu. You're a god damned shinobi are you not!?"

Used to be one. But those details don't seem to be getting through to Shinichi. =_= He sighed. A poof, and the man in the wheelchair henge'd into a tree.

"That's a stupid disguise. Change into something else."

"Like what?"

"A hotdog stand. That'll roll like your wheelchair."

Another poof.

"... okay. I know it's too late to ask and change our minds now... but are you sure this plan is going to work?"

"HOTDOG STANDS DON'T TALK."

"..."

"Good. Soon, veeeery soon..."

All that's left was to wait.

Trap 1: The Sugar Walk
On the road to the Konoha Times building, there appears to be a large assortment of candy littering the ground. Should the pest get sidetracked and decide to grab for one of them...

"I'm going to kill him."

"... what?"

Wasn't their target supposed to be a pest? But... perhaps this "him" was related to Shinichi's foul mood. Which was growing darker and darker by the hour, dark like the night time sky. They had spent most of the afternoon sitting watching and silent, like hotdog stands. With Shinichi occasionally grumbling that this was not what he had imagined himself doing when he first got back to Konoha. They had made plans earlier, first to go grab Shinichi's first mission. Complete that and collect the rewards. Then, go visit his father and Kaede for a bit and hand them the money. Then, all four of them were going had wanted to drop by his house, go see Madoka and Kirie. There were supposed to, right now at this hour, be eating dinner together as a full family for the first time in five years. But there were a few wrenches thrown in their plans. But if life always went "all according to plan", then there would be no such need for alcohol or chain smoking.

Eventually, Shoichi's chakra reserves gave out in the middle of the wait. He went back to being a man bound to his wheelchair and rested his chakra. So did Shinichi, and he went back to being a blind masked and bald man. If Shoichi didn't develop such a distaste for "falling" into sewer holes, he would have liked to poke fun about it... so most of the hours that passed were mostly full of quiet, silence, and watching. Peaceful. Just being surrounded by trees and home, and watching smiling people pass and go. It was kind of... nice. They had seen many interesting and exotic places in their five year travel, but like Dorothy had said several times, "There's no place like home". At one point, Shoichi had decided to take a nap... but Shinichi, with his incredible hearing, had picked up on it and decided to kick his wheelchair into a thorny bush. That wasn't fun. When he had commented that the passing sunset was beautiful, Shinichi's silence guiltily reminded him that his brother could only try to "remember" its colors.

"Hey, what are you kids doing here?"

"Pops?"

"Dad?"

They turned around to see a man they hadn't seen in years. He appeared to be heavily drenched in sweat, as if he was walking right out of work. 'He smelled like it too,' Shoichi thought, nose wrinkled from heavy scent of trash. There was a peculiar expression on Shinichi's face, as if it was the first time seeing... oh right. Shinichi had a similar reaction a while ago, when he had finally worked out all of the kinks to his Echo of the Siren jutsu and had examined Shoichi's face without using his hands for the first time in years. His first words to Shoichi were-

"You look... old," Shinichi murmured in wonder.

"You look bald." Yamato shot back.

Effectively wiping out his stupified expression and replacing it with a deep scowl. That murderous intent flared back up in an instant. Oh this can't be good.

"What are you doing out here, dad?" Shoichi started, trying to change the pace of the conversation. "Shouldn't you be at home right now eating dinner with Kaede-chan?"

"Oh, you two didn't know? Our apartment got demolished."

"WHAT!?" a unison outburst.

When? How? Were they too late? Did his father never receive the money that they sent him through the mailbox? How was he and Kaede-chan able to survive? How did they live all these years then? Wait... where was Kaede-chan!?

"Oh, it's nothing too bad," Yamato dismissed rather calmly, with a wave of his hand. For a homeless man, he sure was talking all of this in rather well. Perhaps he had a back up plan in mind? Oh, but... what about Kaede-chan? Surely she must be unnerved by all of this. Was it a good idea to leave her all alone? She might be trembling and crying her poor eyes out.

"Old Hag Mikage told me that some shinobi accidentally dropped a bomb into the apartment. Did a lot of complaining about "that no good Senju Zephyr". Guess he was the reason why an academy student would even have a bomb in the first place. Oh yeah, hear about his illegitimate kid? The whole village is talking about it."

Upon the words, "Senju Zephyr", the atmosphere around them began to darken. If he hadn't just spent a few hours watching a clear sky, he would have been convinced that a storm was brewing. Shoichi paled. "Him" couldn't possibly be... but... but who else could aggravate his brother this much? Oh god, he had to divert the direction of this conversation somehow before potential disasters strike.

"Hey dad, how's umm... how's Kaede-chan?"

"They're taking her to the hospital to treat her injuries." But from the way he had casually said it, the wounds must not have been so bad. Shoichi sighed in relief.

"..."

But... Perhaps those last few words were the worst possible things to say to Shinichi, the man who tended to overreact the most where his little girls were mentioned. The other two men warily kept their distance from Shinichi. It looked like a volcano was going to erupt any moment and spew sulfuric acid.

"I'm going to KILL HIM!!!" the raging man frothed.

Aryza yawned as she walked down the streets. It was later then what she had thought. If she didn't hurry she would miss dinner. Not wanting to go hungry the girl started to run. Her wolf trailing behind her. What time exactly was it? It was dark so it must be past 8 or 9. Her siblings had probably made it home already. Clutching the letter tightly she made sure she wouldn't drop it as she ran. In it was proof she was to participate in the next genin exams. Aryza couldn't wait to see her families reaction.

Yarotai briskly walked through the most brightly lit portions of Konoha on his way to the Inuzuka compound. The great part about those parts of town was definately the amount of people still carrying on despite the dark. Though he rarely wanted to be the center of attention, he loved being somewhere nearby to the attention. The covered tips of the fuuma shuriken on his back brushed a few of the shop flags as he walked along the streets. The shops looked extremely inviting but he didn't want to take the chance of getting sidetracked and making it to the girls home after her wonderful sister, who may or may not even exist, had already gone to bed.

The crowds of people walked on past the newly dubbed teen as he moved slowly along the streets. His squinting eyes darted from window to window as he tried to think what items might be useful to him and why on earth anyone would buy some at all. His black fingerless gloved hands were sunk deep into a pair of dark brown cargo pants that had obvious grass stains at the bottom. The boy turned a corner up an alleyway as the sun warmed his back. The heat was slightly magnified by the black short sleeved shirt and grey sleeveless shirt that sat atop it.

At the top of the stairs the awkwardly aged male found himself on a rather large landing over looking the village. In the center of the landing was a single spire that rose fifteen feet into the air. Rhaim sat himself on the north facing side of the spire and let out a single sigh. The sun now warmed the left side of his face as his black bandana sat scrunched around his neck, his mouth quite visible. A Konoha headband was barely visible through a mat of shaggy brown hair that hung about with no ryhme or reason. The metal insignia itself was centered over his left eye instead of his nose.

The Chuunin on the other side of the spire didn't speak a word as the same sun warmed the right side of his face.

Ducking here and there the figure of a small girl and her pet canine semi ran through the crowded streets. They had no specific destination. All they wanted was a isolated place where they could snack on treats given to them by her older sister in peace. The day was warm and the sky showed no signs of clouds, it felt nice. Especially the way the sun warmed her face, she was sure her wolf Kuroi was enjoying it just as well.

Finally exiting the large group of people Aryza glanced a head seeing stairs there were two male figures on the top. Or at least the young girl thought they were male. The sun made it hard to tell. Before she could do anything Kuroi was running up the steps. Did he recognise someone? After all he was a canine and their sense of smell was remarkable so the scent was probably familiar. That or it was the smell of food attracting him or maybe even just plan curiosity.

Kuroi's black fur shimmered reflecting the sunlight. His tongue hung halfway out of his mouth as he made it to the top. Wagging his tail he glanced at the two humans in front of him waiting for Aryza to catch up.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 29, 2010 1:42 am

Rhaim turned his head to face back down the stairwell as the sounds of feet scrambled up. The vision however was of a dog racing up towards the landing and some girl behind it. Since the girl wasn't someone that he recognized and she was still too far to hear him effectively, he raised a hand at her general direction. It then went promptly back into the pocket of his pants.

The man on the other side of the spire cracked open his left eye to glimpse at the creature through his peripheral. Though he recognized the dog that belonged to the sister of Inuzuka Jin, he didn't bother moving. It would seem more natural to wait for the dog to approach him. With his arms crossed in front of his chest he loosened a pocket on his vest containing a vacuum wrapped piece of beef.

Kuroi happily wagged his tail and snatched the food from the chuunin's hand just barely avoiding biting him. Within the blink of a an eye the piece of beef had been devoured. Curiosu to see if the man had any more he glanced at him with begging eyes while wagging his tail.

Aryza made it up to the top just in time to see the black wolf finish up the piece. Now that she was nearby she completely recognized the chuunin. "Hi," she said greeting him happily. Remembering that he was not the only one there she turned her head towards the other figure. A boy maybe around her age. "Who are you? I don't think we've meet...
