User ImageWhile another person might have been a bit annoyed after being put on the spot, as Orochi had done to Taur, it just so happened that Taur didn't mind in the least. In fact, that was exactly what Taur had promised Orochi, and Taur took his promises seriously. Taking his cue, Taur cracked his knuckles and glanced around menacingly, as if daring someone to make a move against Orochi. When Orochi got back to his seat, Taur held up his hand and quietly said to Orochi, "High-five, buddy!" Most likely Orochi wouldn't know what that meant, but Taur could always teach him. Of course he was listening to what Mr. Dresden was telling the class.

((OOC: Right on Orochi! You tell everyone how it's going down! rofl ))

"Damn, he found out it was me!" she thought as she earned herself a one day detention. She saw other people staring at her and giggling. She sighned as she played with her pen. She really did feel like a freak..

William who was extremely late to class walked in and sat down in the back of the classroom. In truth he didn't really care about what class he was in his main concern was finding Lilith. On a piece of paper he scribbled down some notes on finding Lilith. Mumbling on his breathe he quickly filled up the page with random notes on Lilith until he was out of space on his paper

orochi glanced at taur's hand and slowly placed his own hand against it, though not at the force and velocity neccesary to be considered a high five. "like this? he asked keeping his hand placed against taur's. suddenly he remembered class and faced forward. the teacher said something about keys, but he still wasn't old enough to carry keys around.

alabaster smirked for the first time since class had started after utsuho's disbeliefed remark. "yes, while not exactly an exiting lesson it is a useful one none the less. you see once you've integrated into human society you can't just wave your hand and magically unlock any lock you want. and it can be difficult for people accustomed to such a luxury to remember the multiple keys you'll need to have on you in everyday life. so i've devised this simple charm to help." he snapped his fingers and a padlock appeared on everyones desk along with a blank sheet of paper. he then turned to the chalk board and the word "oonliese" was magically written out innchalk across it. "now for those of you who can cast spells at will all you must do is mutter the word under your breath and concentrate on the spell to activate it. for those of you who can't, write the word clearly on the paper and hold it firmly between your fingers when you want to cast it." he then waited for his students to fill out the first step.

Dev looked at the lock "Interesting spell" He thought as he was very magically inclined he had the word already memorized repeating it to himself so it was always there, Dev always had the compulsive urge to master any new spell or technique he was taught he believed it was better have a few mastered technique that will rarely fail than to know thousands of haphazard techniques that were unreliable.

Utsuho looked confused at the lock and paper "I guess you can't always just blow open the lock huh?" She stated silently as she wrote the word down and held the paper between her fingers
"If you did that for a house you'd end up just blowing open the door, and this spell is more useful than just opening locks" Yatagusa mentioned in Utsuho's head
it would take a few tries but finally Utsuho got the spell to work

Suwako looked at the lock she chose to cast the spell instead of writing the word down she took 2 attempts to pronounce the word correctly before it finally had the spell word memorized

(meta the spell doesn't just unlock the door, he was just waiting for everyone to write down the word or learn the pronounciation before explaining what it actually does. i mean he outright said that in the real world you can't just go around magically opening locks so why would you think the spell just magically opened locks? a bit contradictory don't you think?)

Maru took the blank piece of paper and wrote down the words. She stared at the paper and looked back up, waiting for the teacher to give out the next step.

While she waited she decieded to doodle on another piece of paper. She drew trees with the sun glowing down. She smiled to herself as she continued to draw.

User ImageFor once Taur was somewhat lacking in confidence. He was suspicious of magic, and therefore uncertain if it would work for him or if he even wanted to try, but that was a part of his course of study, and so he needed to try as best as he could. So far Mr. Dresden's instructions were easy. Taur copied the writing on the chalkboard as carefully as he could to make sure that he got it right the first time, going so far as to duplicate the exact shapes of the letters as best as he could. When he was finished with that, he looked around to see what the others were doing.

orochi cocked his head to the side at alabaster's rather simple intructions. "spell?" orochi immediately invisioned old medieval wizards shooting fire balls at each other. the idea that he could do something like that was super exiting. he hurridely scribbled down the word on the paper and clutched it impatiently, waiting anxiously for whatever came next.

User Image
as the students did as intructed alabaster continued from where he left off. "now this spell is a two step process. first place a free hand over the lock you wish to open then either speak the spell or concentrate on the paper in your hand. this will scan the lock and store its information for later." alabaster demonstrated with his own lock, when he whispered the spell under his breath the lock emited a dim glow. "it goes without saying that you shouldn't use the first part of this spell infront of normal humans. then once you've scanned the lock simply think of the specific lock you wish to open and repeat the spell to create a key that will open it, oonliese he pronounced causing a key to appear in his hand. "now starting out the key will have the same apperance each time, but as your mastery of the spell increases you will be able to create a unique looking key for each different lock. this is crucial to keeping up apperances as having the exact same key for all your locks will draw suspecion. also for sake of conceilment is recamended that you cover up the use of the spell by reaching your hand into a pocket or purse as if you were actually digging out a key then creating the key once your hand is obscured." he further explained.
PostPosted: Tue Jan 31, 2012 8:59 pm

Dev nodded as he understood the explanation placed his hand on the lock given to him and scanned it, after he whispered the spell word and created the key. Dev tested the newly created key and it work.
"I assume when we stop focusing the key will vanish otherwise we will create multiple of the same key?" Dev asked as he raised his hand
"Also I assume some locks will be harder to scan than others" He added the idea that the class could scan any lock and make a key for it bothered him a little.

"Come on dammit" Utsuho stated angerly as she used the key in the lock only to have the key snap off as she tried to turn it.
"You're too worked up stop and focus" Yatagusa told Utsuho keeping her temper down before she got too frustrated.

Suwako had a few difficulties with the keys mostly from chanting the word wrong she eventually got the hang of it as she finally was able to unlock the lock

Cielle shrunk back a bit, startled by Orochi's sudden, loud introduction and then smiling at the acusation of them wanting to eat him. Well i guess i have harboured some thoughts abut killing you.....pfft, i mean who hasn't? But i guess this sate of yours makes up for all those things you've done.

Cielle listened intently at Alabaster's instructions, looking down at her own lock. Being somewhat of a perfectionist, she carefully wrote down the spell, making sure to write it exactly as it was before grabbing the paper and crushing it rather painfully in her hand . Placing her other hand over her own lock, she thought hard about opening the lock and keys. She felt a tingle in her fingers as a faint glow came out of her hands.
Hoping she had scanned the lock correctly, Cielle stared hard at the lock infront of her and thought of the spell again. It took a few moments but she finally relaxed as she heard a clink of metal beneath her hand as the key formed and fell onto the table. Excited, she removed her hand but frowned to see a plain old metal key. I was half expecting some fancy key but i guess it kinda makes sense to have a dusty old key the first time... she thought until Alabaster mentioned creating unique keys for certain locks

Maru closed her eyes as she imagined the lock, which did work. Ignroing everyone around her as she touched the lock, she thought about opening the lock with the power of wind, she felt a tingle but when she opened her eyes the lock did not open, and there was not key. She then thought about the elements all together, she felt a rush of power going throught her as a key apeared.

It was diffrent, fancy with elements desighned on it. She then closed her eyes and focused on trying to open the lock. She relaxed herself and imagined the lock open. When she opened her eyes the lock did open. She smiled to herself as she played with the lock and the key.

User ImageLike before Taur followed Mr. Dresden's instructions as exactly as he could. As a result, he was able to product a key on the first time, and that key opened the lock like it was supposed to. This filled Taur with confidence, and he concluded that perhaps some forms of magic could be reliable after all.
