Lore smiled back as he put his hand upon hers, "I'll be careful, don't worry, I'll make sure to come prepared," he assured her before rising from his seat to go get his things for the hunt.

Ulrich was just leaving his bedroom, dressed now and carrying his bow, a long hunting knife strapped on his waist. He had tucked his bow under one arm and was busy trying to tie the cords of his tunic just below his chin. He was also mumbling under his breath a bit, though he seemed to be in a right jolly mood.

Though Lore too brought a knife just in case, he really was going to be using his bow and arrows. The quiver which he used to hold his arrows was unusual that it was split up into two compartments. On the right were normal arrows he used for hunting (in the very rare occasion), and target practice (in more common occasion). The left held spiritual arrows blessed by the priestess, they were normally meant for demons, evil spirits nad things of that nature.

Lore after all these decades was use to his quiver, and knew which side held which without looking.

When Ulrich saw that Lore was ready, he nodded to him. "Right, then. Off we go. Unless there's anything else you need?"

He eyed Lore's unusual quiver curiously but said nothing about it, standing in the doorway to the outside and waiting only for Lore's reassurances that he was ready for them to leave.

Lore shook his head, "No.. I have everything I need," he assured Ulrich.

Ulrich nodded again and headed outside, knowing that Lore would follow.

"Do you do much hunting back home?" he asked Lore curiously as he started off towards where he knew several pheasants had moved into the area, between two of the mountains that surrounded the valley.

"I haven't had to for a while," Lore admited, "And went I did, it wasn't normally this type of hunting. Living in a city for as long as I have, it's kept that reason to hunt for food rare."

Especially since older mortal women tended to feel sorry for anyone they considered young, whether htye were young or not.

Ulrich nodded slowly, thoughtfully. "Ulani and I lived in the city for a while," he murmured, "when we were first married ... I never was able to get used to it, eating food I hadn't caught myself ... and to tell the truth, now that we've been together for so long, I always feel strange when I'm eating food she hasn't prepared. Not that other food isn't good, it's just different."

"But it's been a long while yes?" Lore inquired, "When it's been a long time, change is harder to take."

He didn't think now, he could live back in the community he started out in, not just because it was oppressive, but well.. he had been educated, he had lived as someone with some semi importance as a librarian. Within the scholar community he had a voice.

Ulrich chuckled at that. "Aye, thirty-five hundred years is a long while, all right," he told Lore, amused. "More, actually ... starting to lose count, how sad is that? Don't tell Ulani, she's probably got it down to the day, I don't know what she'd do to me if she knew I'd lost count ..."

Then again, their time in Laurëfalas had messed with both their minds, perhaps she would just laugh it off.

Lore laughed a bit at that, "I won't, but I don't think it is a problem," he mused, "Heavens, that is many more years than I've heard of on most people, even immortals."

Which was true, after all there were other ways to die, and it wasn't like his people were immune to all sicness, though thye were in better health than humans, but as life was in Gaia. Everyone met their end, the only ones that didn't were the ones removed from the societies of the earth.

"The more life you live the more it becomes a blurr, it's not a surprise though..."

For a moment Ulrich just smiled sadly, then he murmured, "Ah, but we're still quite young. Ulani's great-grandmother ... she was the original queen of the Southland, and as I recall ... she was on the throne twenty thousand years before she abdicated ... and she is still alive, though not in this land."

His smile broadened slightly, and he added, "It's not that everything became a blur - quite the opposite, I can recall everything most clearly. However, it's only the chronology that has become blurred, what occurred when, during which year. And of course times of unconsciousness mess with the mind, or in Ulani's case, amnesia."

Lore couldn't imagine living for that long, even though he supposed if one led a peaceful existence or had a lot of luck it was possible. Still...

"I suppose it would," Lore murmured, "I take it a lot has happened."

Ulrich's mind ran through their centuries of adventures and nodded, half-grinning.

"The good outweighs the bad," he commented, "but yes ... a lot has happened. There are those who consider us lucky to have lived through three wars, but they don't stop to consider that we lost all three of our children to those very wars. Lucky? Perhaps. To have each other after all these years, yes. But Ninako - Ulani's grandmother, the first queen - I don't envy her her longevity at all. She has been living without her husband for as long as Ulani and I have been married - longer, actually - and I think it's amazing that she's even still alive."

Lore blinked at that, not that he knew about the fact that an elf here could die of heart break, but the concept of dying because the lack of love ones after out living them was a concept he did know of.

"That... is a long time," he murmured softly, "But I guess for us, when trouble is afoot, not an unusual one," he wondered about himself, as far as he knew there was no afterlife for his people, they did not believe in one, as far as he knew...

"There is... no chance of her metting her husband again?"

He had to ask, he had hung around Umi and her family too long.
