"It is reasonably certain that Lux was taken to the astral plane when the demon took him away. That was likely where the vortex led that your father had opened. His plan was to pull us into the astral plane, where he might exchange us for some greater power. Instead you halted his efforts and he was pulled through instead. Lux came through as an exchange."

Aer looked at Lux. Slowly, he grinned - not the response one might have expected in such a situation, until he said, "Lux in exchange for manipulative, evil father." He turned his grin on Amryck. "What do you think? Good trade?"

Amryck barked a laugh. "Not just Lux, lad. Half the palace is gone too. Or did'ye forget that gaping hole you made?"
Amryck laughed again and lifted Tekira on a bed of air. "Let's get your woman inside and out of the heat. Summer is coming, and she doesn't need the heat on top of her unconsciousness. Gortul's are vulnerable to heat. After that, we can start your training. What do you say to that?"

Aer stared, slowly turning red, losing everything Amryck said after, "...your woman..."
Coughing, he said, "She's not... Nevermind. Yes, let's. Ah - let me, sir." He didn't seem to place any importance on using the sudden honorific to Amryck - it just came naturally. As he said it, he slipped under Amryck's threads, weaved a charm that would create a cycle of soft wind around Tekira to keep her relatively cool. He then gave her a bed of air - not as intricate as Amryck's, but enough to take the effort away from his mentor.
"Now," he said to Amryck, seemed about to wait for 'authorization', but then simply nodded and left through the only intact door - one had been blocked by a massive slab of stone that Aer didn't feel like moving, even with magick.
As he moved Tekira, he wondered what new path his life would take, what new trials he would face... and what new affairs he might have.

To Be of the Being of To Be Continuing-Like?
Since Ikken, Unsung, and Silent are (apparently) the only ones left in this roleplay, we consider it no horrible act to declare the END of this roleplay - or rather, this chapter. A new roleplay, entitled Trials of the Hearrte, will shortly be created in this forum. Ikken, Unsung, and presumably Silent will be joining this roleplay, and anyone else is welcome as well - but be warned, we want you to stay to see it through!
(Sorry we ended Tekira's storyline for now, Silent, but the adventures of Aer, Amryck, and Tekira will continue in Book 3! razz Or, hell, we can continue it in Trials if you want. Or write an epilogue here. razz )
(By the way, I (Ikken) am at Bard's house, and I'm too lazy to log out of his account, which is why the last few Aer posts have been posted by this account. Fear not. There has been no foul play. smile )

((OOC: Sounds fine to me. I am so incredibly sorry I wasn't here to see the end of it. *was doing the play* Seriously, I was there at six in the morning and didn't get home until eleven. I had no time for homework, much less Gaia. But I'm back now.

((Not a problem. The general consensus is that we'll pick up somewhere around ten months after the end of this roleplay. We'll be introducing all new characters for the mojority of it and probably reintroduce Aer, Amryck, and Tekira towards the end. Ikken and I will try and have it posted sometime this week.))

Once I Walk Away... ((OOC: Okay, so hang on. I'm getting confused. 'Trials' is going to have completely different characters, but we're going to bring back Amryck, Aer and Tekira for the end of 'Trials' and possibly Part Three, if we end up getting that far?))
