Can you believe my HDD died just almost one day before its warranty ended?
Do they time those things? This is the second time this happens to me with a HDD!
I couldn't get most of my data back, and I didn't have a recent backup copy. So guess what happens, I succeed in getting everything back EXCEPT my drawings (and 33gigz of selected tracks)! The whole thing! Lost! Bang! Pfft! Smoke!
I only have the online versions now, but there's a good side to it. I get a clean shelf, and a clean conscience. Fresh start. Try to do better. Frigging study for exams you idiot! xd stressed

Ouch ouch ouch! If you have a website or are considering one, it's a terrific backup resource. I just got a backup hard drive since I can't get my old IDE secondary drive to slave act in a submissive fashion to the SATA drive in my new computer. But sometimes, it is good to throw away the old stuff and start a-new. For some reason, it always feels good to phase out old work.

It feels very... freeing. For some reason, now that I have been through it, I feel like keeping old work rather restrains you to your embodied level of skill. Losing the actual files turns everything from the past into abstract experience and you suddenly draw better. e_e
I don't know if it's the loss or just the fact that I felt like drawing something after losing everything, or both combined.
You won't believe this, but the dead HDD responded at first, and I actually had a backup from Oct 2007 on the older IDE HDD, but since then, I had changed the hierarchical folder structure a little, so I couldn't just overwrite. I ACTUALLY DELETED THE OLD ONE before copying the new one; a process which kept on alright until the very last folder, my drawings', and then stopped responding. ;_;
I could have fixed the HDD myself, but I was caught between three fires. On one had, it was the last day of the warranty, so it was the last chance I could get a possible replacement. On the other, I needed the data, so I couldn't just send it. On a third, I spent 9 hours straight trying to get back only a quarter of what I had in there, and I had an exam next day. I ultimately decided to give up the data and have someone work on it for me because otherwise I know I would never have studied anything until the problem was solved. Priority Combo!
You're right. It's a shame IDE can't act like automatic backup.

Aaaaand that's it. I'm done with exams. Thanks for the good luck wishes everyone, they really didn't work.
