Grave was on the edge of his seat, and popped onto his feet when he saw the Golem take the shot. "I...I don't get it, it's not hurt..." Grave muttered aloud, and then he saw the Golem wheel about. Was Dameron controlling it? Grave stared at the Golem looking for some sign of what the shot had done to it. Elias seemed to know, for his cry when out through the arena. "Did you see what he did?" Grave asked Kallisto and Mathiaz both.Danna nodded, not even blanching at the term he used for her; it felt so natural. "I know only the basics. I won't be able to make my choice until I see them all in action..." Danna smiled at him and then slide forward in her seat in concern. "Oh! The poor Golem!" She cried out, watching the prismatic beam strike Cobweb in the chest. She appeared to visably relax, seeing that Cobweb did not seem injured.

How could a battle evolve into something so obviously dangerous, and no one bat an eyelash? Ubel was leaning forward in his seat, staring openmouthed as he struggled to keep seeing Dameron, though unable to stop looking at the twisting, smoking creature in the Arena, fascinated by it's beautiful ugliness... This, this was why he couldn't wait to become a Three. He wanted to be like this... powerful, amazing, breathtaking... someday. Someday he would be. Lior nearly whimpered in his excitement as he watched the two men battle, squirming and clutching harder at Cash's hand, a grin on his lips and a bright, delighted light in his eyes. "They're so damn amazing," he breathed.

Amelia had almost forgotten about the Lover's Duel and by the time she'd remembered, it had already started. She'd slammed the book she was reading closed, and jumped off of her bed, hurrying to dress herself properly and throw her boots on. She couldn't miss this! She'd missed PE class, so she'd never seen any kind of sparring or duel. This would be a sight to see, she figured, running toward the Arena as quickly as her scrawny legs would allow.
She hadn't been very social as of late, and seemed to prefer keeping to herself, so as she entered the Arena, she was more than surprised at the masses of people who had gathered for the event. She recognized a few of her classmates sitting here and there, but as she scanned the crowd, she finally spotted her oldest friends. Perhaps she'd make some new friends too, she thought, as she headed to where Mathiaz, Grave and Kallisto were sitting.
Breathless, she greeted them before straightening her dress and sitting down. "Hi guys!" she said with a smile on her face. "Did I miss much?" She sat down and noticed immediately that this was no ordinary sparring match. Dameron and Elias weren't physically fighting at all. They were fighting with magic.
Once she noticed the magical leanings of the fight, she was almost immediately entranced. She wanted to learn how to do THIS!

Cobweb reached out her tendrils, feeling the air in the arena, and trying to grasp her claws into her Master. Elias thought quickly and thought hard. He didn't have any Siren's Song with him; he didn't think he'd need it. Grumbling under his breath he tapped the technoring twice to return Cobweb to her resting place. The spiralling coils of the Golem whisped away and Elias de-activated his Camoflauge.
Dameron came spiralling down out of the sky towards him as soon as Elias was insight, and Elias spread out his serpentine body to appear as though he was bracing himself. And then, when Dameron was in range, Elias tossed the contents of a small vial into the air. The glittering drops errupted into a roar and suddenly it was a Tsunami rolling through the air towards Dameron!
Unable to turn in midflight, Dameron attempted to swoop and got caught in the crush of the waves, tumbling over and over in the surf and pounded into the Arena floor. While the Literature professor was flung to a rest, Elias called out his second Golem, knowing that Dameron had used up his Beast Allegiance Radius and could not repeat his earlier tactics.
"Azure, Attack!" Elias cried out, tapping another certed technoring and releasing his Aqueous Reflection Golem. Azure shimmered into view, and delighted at the sight of all the water, dove head first into the waves subsiding around Dameron, his rippling frothy sleeves glittering in the light like so many diamonds caught by the sun.
Dameron let out a cry as he recognized the Golem he'd helped to create sweep down upon him, and flipped up onto his feet just as Azure took root in the waves and solidified his appearance. Dameron stood facing a mirror image of himself and grimaced. Azure smiled, and took Dameron's Han Zenkutsu Dachi. With lightning quick reflexes Azure struck out at Dameron with a swinging mawashigeri and Dameron tapped a technoring on his arm to activate his Turbo Pack and dodged just in time.
Flipping back through the air, Dameron fired a #22. Azure charged forward, trying to see the line of the shot, and plowed right into a cloud of gas released by the Castor Shell. Slowed down, Azure watched in vain as Dameron landed lightly on his feet some ten feet away and tapped to release his Abberation. With some assistance, it would be a two on two. Aurichalcite burst from his stone, and levelled his gaze on Azure, who uncertain, shifted his stance.

Yambati's eyes widened behind is round-rimmed glasses, and he unconsciously leaned forward in his seat, shifting until he was perched right on the very end. This wasn't ugly, pointless fighting.
This was beautiful.
It reminded him of gelsemium and those other blooming-boughed poisonous plants. Beautiful to watch, deadly to touch. He wanted to know more, to understand.

The twins were rivetted, their gazes darting back and forth in synchrony as they watched the events unfold. It was pure amazing, so very intricate and subtle. No longer were they lounging against one another but sitting forward in their seats, jumping as Dameron shot Cobweb and again as Elias countered.
Entranced, they flicked a glance at Yambati and sighed happily, "See? A dance."
---
Astaroth, for all his reluctance in coming was intrigued, Yggdrasil continually coming to mind as the two professors exchanged blows. This wasn't just a battle of muscle, he realized, it was a struggle between wills and wits. "It's fine. See? He turned it on Elias." He replied to Danna, smiling as Elias countered with yet another golem. He blinked as it took on Dameron's form, tilting his head to the side. Did it feed from the water Elias had cast at Dameron?
"You think Yggdrasil will be as beautiful?" He asked hopefully, sounding more like a child who'd been given an incredible gift.
---
Kallisto blinked as Dameron was tossed out of the air and sighed. So much for the airborne advantage. Barely catching what Grave said she tried to answer properly, "The castor gun. The shot must have confused Cobweb." She shifted forward suddenly as Elias threw yet another golem at Dameron and it transformed into a copy, "Hey! That's not fair! Shoot it again Professor Dameron!" She yelled, beating her hand on the handle of the chair. She felt something smoosh and hoped it wasn't Grave's hand.

Grave let out a small cry as Dameron went tumbling to the Arena floor, knowing that the hit had dealt a considerable amount of damage, and vaguely mused that had it been he himself who was hit he'd probably be unconscious by now. When the Golem took on Dameron's shape he began to wonder a little at why the two Professors refused to close quarters. Grave let out another little cry as Kallisto fisted his arm in her outrage. Danna sighed, a little relieved, and was a little sad to see the whisping beauty of Cobweb disappear. When another Golem was summoned, however, she sat forward again, and studied the new arrival. shimmery, as if it was insubstantial, its long flowing robes looked like a waterfall frozen in midflow, and as it poured itself into the water around Dameron its glittering subsided and it took on a solid form - that of Dameron! Danna gasped quietly. She hadn't thought Golems were capable of such things, but suddenly all manner of ideas began to swell inside her head. Astaroth asked her a hopeful question, and she turned her eyes from the fight for a moment to look at him with an excited and determined face. "We'll make Yggdrasil even more beautiful."

Kallisto paused and glanced at Grave, offering a quick apology as she squeezed the box of candies instead. "Are you hurt? I hope I didn't break your hand...." Her attention seemed caught for a moment, divided between Grave and the duel. But a quick frown revealed her decision as she turned to her friend, picking up his hand to poke and prod it, "I'm sorry!"
---
Astaroth nodded shortly, twining his fingers about hers as he picked apart what he was seeing to the best of ability. He was struck with the realization that the professors were only using ranged combat. If that's all they were going to do, what was the point of having brought swords? Were they just for show then? "I wonder why there's only ranged attacks...." He queried the air, settling his attention on Dameron and what the cunning combatant would do next.

Grave smiled sheepishly. "It's okay! you didn't do it on purpose...Don't worry about me, you're missing the fight!" Grave said, waving his good hand toward the action down on the Arena floor. He smiled to show he was all right, and rubbed at his bruised wrist just to make sure it was all right. Afterall, he'd sparred her and knew how hard she could hit. Danna frowned thoughtfully at that. "That's true... It's almost like they're avoiding directly hitting each other. Perhaps they are holding back because they're lovers?" She asked, softly rubbing her thumb across the back of Astaroth's hand. Then she turned her attention of the Abberation. He looked tiny from her seat, more like the glow of a pixie than a fighting machine. She reminded herself that Abberations were magical fighters, not physical ones. She'd never seen one before and ooh and aahd as it seemed to pin the Golem in place with a mere flicker of its light.

Dameron turned his back on Azure and walked calmly and gracefully across the Arena floor to close the distance between he and Elias. He loaded another Castor shell into his gun and cocked it. Then, balancing his Tome on his hip, he waggled the gun teasingly at Elias. "Well then, are you ready to actually stand against me, yet? You've fought so cowardly thus far..." Elias smirked insolently and tossed back a bottle of potion. He let the empty leather vial drop to the Arena floor and shrugged as he replied in a carefree tone, "It looks like you've taught me something afterall, then!" Then, with a flick of his tail tip, he added in a darker tone, "You know what your problem is, Dam'on? You feel too deeply and spend all your time trying to hide and repress what your emotions."
Dameron levelled the gun at Elias and through gritted teeth responded. "And you, Eli, spend all your time gazing too deeply into others and feeling nothing yourself!" And with that Dameron fired his #17 and dashed backwards with his turbopack-boosted speed.
Elias threw up his hands and called out a Ritual Spell in tongues to call forth the power of the Horned God. Bolstered by his Serpentine Wiles potion, the Horned God's form rose up around Elias like an etheral suit of massive armour and controlling the carapace with his movements from inside the ghostly protection, Elias deflected the first two shots of the Rapid Fire shell and then absorbed the last four with the strength of the Horned God's protection. Dropping the Ritual spell, Elias slithered after his Lover, slugging back another potion to increase his energy and speed and sped to meet him on the other side of the Arena.
Meanwhile, the Abberation Aurichalcite cast his first spell on Azure. With a glowing of his blue crystals, Rivet took effect and Azure let out a cry of dismay to find he was pinned to the spot. He dropped the Dameron Facade and returned to his insubstatial watery Golem form just in time to take a blow from Aurichalcite's second spell, Lunar Beam. The mixed silvery light went firing into Azure's main body, and the Golem fell in a splash to his robed knees, letting out another cry of dismay. Weakened, but determnied, the Golem rose to its feet and charging forward threw a Haito at the little Abberation floating in the air before him. Aurichalcite glowed bright blue as Azure's hooking hand slammed against an invisible shield that threw Azure off balance as Aurichalcite went tumbling off in the air in his fading sphere of light. Azure was the faster of the two and picked himself up to dive after the Abberation in a full flurry of diamond-sparklnig sleeves. Aurichalcite threw up his Water Shield again, just in time to protect himself from a launching punch.

"A dance," he repeated, affirming the twins' statement. "... but it would be better if they wouldn't taunt each other." The second comment was mostly murmured to himself, as he knew it couldn't be - they had personalities and emotions and a reason to be fighting - of course they'd speak.
Still, it would have made the battle so much more beautiful had it been only murmured and sung spells, the sound of feet and castor bullets... if he ever fought, he would be sure to remain silent. Perfectly silent.

Astaroth nodded, "Perhaps, but I can't see the point of such theatrics unless they were trying to pressure one another through public acts but that seems rather childish to me." He frowned as Elias dropped the spell and slithered forward without any apparent protection. That armor had seemed fairly useful too.... And now he was an open target for an attack and he had to pass by Dameron's Aurichalcite before he reached Dameron too.
Something was up and Astaroth was rather curious as what Elias had planned - and how Dameron would respond. "I wonder what they're up to now..."--- "But I'd feel bad if you were hurt...." She mused but turned back to the fight just in time to watch Elias cast another spell, this one appearing as though he'd summoned something. Her breath caught in her chest and she had to forcibly remind herself to breathe as the summoned armor easily withstood the castor shots. As Elias moved she couldn't help but smile in appreciation of the grace and beauty with which he moved... but there was still a great deal of space between he a Dameron.
Surely he couldn't cross the expanse without some sort of response form Dameron? "He's going to be stopped, watch." She said with surety, gaze turning to Dameron in expectation of a response.
