User ImageShe was really hoping for a girl. That's cute. I thought affectionately, thrumming. "Yes, it is indeed religious." I said. "There are so many religious symbols it even outdoes the local cathedral."

It was then one of my bags started ringing, and I looked around to peer back at that. It was my phone, beeping about a reservation I had at the Bamboo Sanctuary, a high class oriental themed restaurant at the top of one of the tallest buildings in Caelfall. The alarm was not terribly loud at the same time I could hear it over the wind up here.

I had temporarily forgotten about it. From the moment the alarm went off I had a half our to make our way there. I glanced back at Larissa. "How are you doing? Getting hungry?" I asked, as the alarm continued to ring. I wasn't going to risk dropping my phone from this height, no thank you. Though, Larissa might be able to get the phone out of the side bags without dropping it...

She laughed. "It sure does. The cathedral looked amazing, and I'm sure they appreciate their followers spreading the word of their religion with this stunning display. It's magnificent, really. I'm almost tempted to join based on this alone!" she joked.

Poff heard the ringing and her ears swivelled to catch the sounds "What's that? Garnet's phone?"

Larissa listened carefully over the wind and heard the faint noise. "What would you have planned at this time of night?" she questioned, tilting her head curiously. They had been out flying around Caelfall for a good several hours, trying to see all the best lights on the trail that the horse and carriage route took.

She nodded at her question "Now that you mention it, yeah! I'm feeling ravenous" she giggled at herself. That wasn't very ladylike. "Do you have some place in mind? I was just gonna chuck together something at home from Aria's supplies" she admitted.

Poff licked her lips "I'm always hungry" she declared. "Food sounds good"

User ImageLarissa's comment on the house made me wonder if she was joking. Then I had to remind myself that what her choice of beliefs was was her choice, afte all, and all I could really do was support her. Then again, Larissa was rarely the zelotry type, and she's gotten better with her squirmyness over critters since meeting Albihe and Sapphire. Maybe, maybe not.

"Yeah, it's my phone." I said when Poff asked. "I had plans for this evening." I said with a smile. She didn't have a clue where we were going, and that was good. She was also really hungry, and I knew why; while I was flying a lot it's chilly up here, and keeping one's self warm made one hungry.

The phone silenced itself after a moment. "I think we have enough time to see the rest of the houses." I said, turning away from the angel illusion and the relgious display.

We lookd at the rest of the houses, and I liked one that had been decorated like a gingerbread house. I smiled to myself as we reached the end of the route, and then I flew off for the restaurant.

As I flew I started to ascend higher and higher into the air; until we were level with one of the tallest skyscrapers of Caelfall.

I winged in to land on the roof; the edges of said roof were lined with a hardy blue bamboo that waved gently in the wind up here. There was an almost intense whistling as the wind whistled through the bamboo.

Waiting for us was a beautiful woman. She had long fiery crimson hair, a few shades more orange then my own red mane, a pale orange in the chilly moonlight. Her ears were fox like and her features oriental. She wore an elaborate kimono and had 9 fox-like tails. She wore an elegant kimono that moved gently in the wind.

"Leo-kun." She said. "It has been a while, my friend. You've changed, it seems."

"Konnichiwa, Aki-chan." I said. folding my wings back so Larissa could get off. "Indeed it has. This is your newest venture?" I asked, looking at the blue bamboo. "I will fit through the door, yes?"

"Indeed it is." She smiled. "And I do hope so. It's an honor to have you and your lovely companions attend opening night."

"And it is an honor to be here." I bowed my head and strode forward as Aimi lead us to the door and held it open easily despite the whipping winds. Down the stairs and into the main restaurant.

Aki followed us down, and the room we entered was gorgeous. The floor pebbled to look like a riverbed, complete with lightly trickling water over the stones for effect. Above it was a solid and sturdy bamboo path leading in several directions. Different parts of the room was sectioned off by walls of bamboo, creating gently swaying and elegant screen to grant diners privacy.

I looked down at the bamboo path and tested it's strength; it did not give so I ventured father onto it, happy to note that I was not feeling any unsteadiness. The air felt pleasantly humid but not overly so, and a gentle mist (which felt like an illusion) faded the different paths.

"Wow." I said after looking around. "Feels like I've stepped into another world. You never fail to impress me, foxy."

"Thank you, Leo-kun." Aki said with an amused smile, laughter in her eyes. "I enjoy interior design very much."

She pulled a pair of menus off of a table near the door; clearly this was an aerial entrance for flying magical creatures. She lead the way to a table, sheltered from view by bamboo. The space was roomy and there was a large window, stretching from floor to ceiling, of the world outside. From here you could see the entirety of Caelfall and the forests beyond it, lit by moonlight.

The table was a low one, surrounded by cushions. I headed over to it and lay down next to the table, as Aki placed the menus on said table. Gossamer squirmed his way out of his bag as Sapphire did the same, and the two familiars started working to take off the harness I wore-- at least for a moment.

"What might I get you for drinks?" Asked Aki sweetly, her tails swaying back and forth behind her.

Larissa was half joking. She was pretty open to the idea of joining a religion or looking into them at least. Unless it was to serve evil deities. But she'd never join without looking into it carefully and doing all her research. She had the child to consider after all.

She enjoyed seeing the rest of the displays. The gingerbread house was cute but made her even more hungry. She clung on tight to the harness as Garnet started flying higher and higher "Wh-where are we going? This is pretty high. Oh, the skyscraper?" Sure enough, Garnet winged in to land on top of it and Larissa let out a breath. "Phew. I don't know if I like going that high. It's a long way to fall. Even though we were clipped onto the harness" she said, more to Poff than Garnet, who was talking to someone on the rooftop. Larissa looked up and saw the fox lady and her mouth dropped open. She then remembered her manners and closed it.

"Garnet knows people from everywhere" she said to Poff, as her girlfriend walked into the restaurant down a flight of stairs. Larissa had to lean back to avoid sliding off. "Wonder where she met this person"

"I have no idea" Poff sniffed the air. "Mm, I can smell sea food. Fish, crab. Yummy~!" She licked her lips.

Larissa dismounted Garnet's back as they walked towards a low table. She took off her jacket and folded it neatly, setting it aside. The restaurant was a humid temperature. She then helped Sapphire and Gossamer with the harness straps, undoing the buckles. Poff squirmed out of her pocket and jumped onto the table, pawing open one of the menus to start browsing.

Larissa looked at Garnet as she helped pull the harness off her, then at the waitress...well, the woman temporarily being a waitress? She looked like she was dressed too fancy to be one. "Um, could I have a peppermint tea please?" Larissa asked politely. "And a bowl of water for my familiar" she looked at Garnet after Garnet placed her drink order as well.

"So where do you know the fox lady from? She called you Leo earlier and she was talking to you like you're friends, so I guess you've known her for a while. And why does she have so many tails? I thought foxes only had one tail. Spell gone wrong perhaps?" she raised an eyebrow and giggled.

"This restaurant is something else by the way! It's fun. And kind of romantic" she looked around appreciatively. The sounds of trickling water and bamboo reached her ears. Hmm, maybe she should give Garnet the thing. The thing that was in her enchanted pocket. No..not yet. Her hand had moved to her pocket when the thought occurred but she simply moved it away, before Garnet noticed.

User ImageThe fox woman scribbled down what Larissa wanted on a notebook she procured from her kimono; not commenting on the quiet conversation that Larissa was having with her familiar Poff. "I can do that~" Aki said with a pleasant smile.

Aki then looked to me, and I thought for a moment. "Anything with dragonsbane?" I asked.

The fox woman nodded with a smile. "We have Red Ruby Dragonsbane Sake." She offered, "And Crimson roiboos dragons-bane tea, my quad-wing friend."

I considered that. "mmm... That sake sounds really good. But I'll go with the tea. I'll take a sealed bottle for home though; I'll store it in the wine celler till I'm ready to drink it."

Aki put her hands together and bowed. "Very well. Your waitress will be here soon enough to take care of you." She said, her tails waving gently back and forth. She then turned and left in a swish of her many tails.

It was around then Larissa helped Sapphire and Gossamer get the harness off. "Kitsune are often shrewd business moguls, liking to host and own large hotel buildings and business strains." I said, as the harness nearly folded itself up next to me. "They're technically a magical type of fox, that get more tails as they grow older. Aki has been a friend of the Ameras for generations, and she's the one who taught me a great deal of what I know about business. My parents taught me a lot too."

I thrummed when she said she likes the restaurant. I gently nuzzled her, butting my head against her playfully. There was a little box in one of my bags that I should give her but... not quite yet. I was too busy enjoying her presence and the atmosphere.

"Kitsune. Oh okay!" Larissa said, nodding at Garnet's explanation. "That's the first time I've seen one; a magical fox person. Her outfit was really pretty and her ears looked cute. I wanted to pet them" she smiled, petting Garnet's head as she nuzzled her. She giggled at the playful head butts, used to getting them by now. Both Poff and Garnet did that. Poff's didn't nearly knock you over though.

She started looking at one of the menus, using the one Poff had opened. "Everything on here looks delicious" she complained "I don't know how to choose". The menu had both words and small pictures of the dishes on offer, and they all looked and sounded good. Larissa hovered over the crispy honey chicken wings and the special fried rice. Then she spotted the stir fry noodles with cashews and the coconut rice. They had a wide range of Asian foods from different cultures and places. Larissa's mouth watered.

"How does your family know so many people? What exactly do they do for a living? I've never asked but I have wondered about it" she said to Garnet, as she finally picked out a few things and put the menu aside. She turned to Poff "Did you finish looking, honey?"

Poff grinned happily and nodded, her tail swaying back and forth "I'm getting cooked prawns and fish!" she meowed. Larissa laughed and petted her. "Good choice"

User ImageI watched her puzzle over the menu, after giggling over my playful headbutts. I thrummed and rested my head in her lap, letting her make her decision as she looked at the menu.

I was looking a the menu myself, having it float in-front of me as she looked over what she wanted.

It was then Larissa asked me a rather... sensitive question. I looked up at her from where the menu floated in-front of me; it folded itself closed and laid itself on the table.

"I... uh..." I trailed off. "You know Amerazing?" I asked awkwardly. "Yeah. My family owns and manages that chocolate cooperation. Blame my great great great grandfather for that name."

I sat up to look at her. "I am terribly, stupidly rich. People want to be connected to us. I keep myself busy with chocolate making, but... I'm not as much of a social butterfly as my parents..."

Larissa watched the menu close on its own and flop down onto the table. She listened to Garnet and suddenly regretted asking her about her family's business. She seemed uncomfortable talking about it. Larissa nodded when she asked if she knew the chocolate brand. Yep, she knew it. It was a common and very popular chocolate all over the inhabited parts of the world.

"Wow. I never would have guessed that! That's incredible. You must have gotten so much chocolate as a kid" she laughed a bit. "I eat that chocolate all the time. I always buy some in my grocery shopping, or at the cafeteria here in the school. Lately I've been buying the creamy dark chocolate version since I've been trying to eat healthier" she admitted. "It's so good"

She shifted a little as Garnet sat up and moved her head from her lap, brushing her dress down out of habit. "Sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable bringing that up. Well, I knew that you had money" she said. "But I never really cared that much about it. Since I assume a lot of people from upper class families study magic at this academy, I just figured it was another person richer than me. I ended up being more interested in who you are as a person rather than how much money you have. I just wondered what your family did for a living. I think that's really cool. I mean, having a chocolate business. Yum!" she smiled, playing with her hair gently as they talked.

"You wanna know what my family does? My dad works at Toyota as a car salesman and my mum works at a dentists. She's a dental assistant" she laughed, then quieted down again. "Do you have to take over the family business one day? I don't recall you saying anything about siblings. I always wished I had some growing up but mum and dad seemed to be happy with just me" she shrugged.

The waitress came over with their drinks and placed them on the table. "Are we ready to order, ladies?"

User ImageShe didn't let the tension that had arose last long, instead lessening it by telling me that she loves my family's chocolate and that she was trying to get some of the healthier chocolates.

But what made me really happy was when she told me she doesn't care about my money-- she cares about me-- and that got me thrumming again. I lay down to rest my head in her lap, my tail flicking slowly back and forth happily. Before Larissa, all the women I dated wanted me for my money-- hearing that and knowing that she was being truthful made me really happy.

Then she commented on what her parents did for their living, and I churred some. "Yeah, I'm the heir. I don't have any siblings." I said. "I'm working on refining my chocolate making techniques and I'm supposed to be making connections, but I don't generally do that on my own."

It was then that the waitress came back with the drinks; a huge pot of tea for me, with a medium sized bowl shaped like a teacup for me to drink out of, with a smaller pot and a straight-sided fine clay teacup with no handles for Larissa's peppermint tea.

I glanced at the waitress and smiled. "Can you do dragon sized Nigiri?" I asked her.

She smiled back. "Of course. What types?"

"Sake Nigiri, Unagi Nigiri, Maguro Nigiri. Also, a roll with Unagi, cucumber, Akami, Ikura and Hamadai.*" I said.

She scribbled all that down.

"I'll have stir-fried silkworm fried rice." Sapphire piped up. "And can I get whole Hikari Mono?**" Requested Gossamer, both familiars looking up at her. The lady smiled and continued scribbling down the order.

When she was done writing all that down, she looked to Larissa and Poff.

*Salmon Nigiri, Smoked Freshwater Eel Nigiri, Bluefin Tuna Nigiri. Freshwater Eel, Cucumber, Red Tuna, Salmon Roe and Red Snapper."

** Silver Fish

Larissa knew that no matter how much money there was, there was only one Garnet. A limited edition, one of a kind person that didn't exist anywhere else. When she thought about it, she'd rather have Garnet and be happy, than to have lots of money and be alone. Mind you, it was pretty cool that they could afford to do lots of stuff! And when it came to pregnancy check ups and doctors, that was probably going to cost a fair bit too. She scritched behind Garnet's ears and under her chin as the dragon thrummed happily, and smiled in amusement at her swishing tail. That was cute!

"We have that in common" she nodded, about being an only child. "That's why I've always wanted to have a big family one day. At the very least, we'll have two kids, one from you and one from me. As for making connections, you shouldn't have to try too hard. There must be so many people wanting to connect with your family already. I think the most important connections for you to make are finding true friends and family".

The waitress came then and Larissa thanked her as she set the drinks down. Poff's bowl of water was decorated with colourful Koi fish swimming around the inside of it. Larissa placed it in front of her and the cat began lapping the spring water. The witch took a sip of her peppermint tea and sighed happily. "It's like drinking Christmas!" she giggled, while Garnet placed her food order and her familiars did the same.

Larissa didn't understand what Garnet was ordering but she was impressed that she knew another language and its foods. "Wow. I didn't know you could speak Japanese, Garnet. You're so full of surprises!" she smiled. "Guess I better order now. Let's see, umm...can I get an entree of crispy honey chicken wings, and the chicken and cashew stir fry, and also a coconut rice?"

Poff spoke up too "I want prawns, meow! Can you make sure they are all peeled and beheaded for me? And I want some different types of fish; tuna, snapper, salmon...whatever fresh fish you have"

Larissa grinned "Add some fish roe onto that order please. She's not had them before and I think she'd enjoy them"

The waitress wrote it all down on her note pad and Larissa sat back with a soft hum. "This is gonna be delicious! It already smells good in here. I can't wait to eat" she told Garnet. She thought something to herself too. I can't wait to give it to her! Not yet. After we eat...I hope she accepts it. I think she will...

User ImageThe waitress left with a smile, leaving us with our drinks and our own company. She had gotten Gossamer and Sapphire bowls of water as well, that my familiars drank from.

I looked at my teapot and it floated into the air, filling up my appropriately sized teacup with steaming, dark red liquid. I sipped it, and thrummed at both the flavor of the tea and at Larissa's attentions.

"Mine has a certain holiday flavor to it as well." I said, nuzzling Larissa. As I thrummed and nuzzled her, the little box floated out of one of my harness bags and floated to set on the table. It was small and made of out mahogany, covered in intricate carved designs of vines, set with emerald leaves; and it was wrapped in an emerald colored ribbon. Inside was a ring I had made for her; the center 'stone' if you will was one of my heart-scales, carefully plucked and regrown; it was carved into leaf shape and surrounded by small amethyst, sapphire, and diamond flowers. Each tiny flower had a heart of imperial topaz. The metal itself had been a conundrum, but eventually I picked silver to go with the main theme of the ring. It was not particularly large, and shouldn't get in the way of her using her hands, (I had to sneak a look at her rings to make sure I could make it to fit). I even blessed it with a holy protection spell. The ring lay nestled on a bed of dark violet velvet, holding a small scroll which had been stuck through the loop of the ring; the scroll simply said 'Will you marry me?'

I continued to thrumm and nuzzle her, wondering how long it would take for her to notice the little emerald en-studded box.

She watched the teapot fill the large teacup with red liquid, and listened to Garnet speak. "Yeah I can smell it. It smells really good!" she agreed about the dragonsbane tea, smiling widely at the nuzzling. She petted and scritched her in return, not noticing the box float onto the table as all her attention was on her lover. Garnet's purry sounds were getting really loud, and Larissa giggled. "You sound very happy tonight! Your purr motor is at full power. I'm glad that you're feeling so happy".

Poff sniffed at the little box. "What's this?"

Larissa looked up and noticed the box. "Oh, where did that come from?! Was that here when we got here?" she reached for it as Poff pushed it towards her, and picked it up, admiring it as she turned it around in her hands. "It's so beautiful. I wonder what's inside" she glanced around before looking at Garnet "You don't think they'd mind if we opened it to take a peek, do you? I assume it's someone's lost property" She then slowly untied the green ribbon, and opened the box. She stopped and stared at the ring. Her breath leaving her in a sigh of wonder and admiration. "Ohh, wow...this is..." she looked at the scale, then at Garnet's hide, and back at the scale "Is this for me?" she laughed in joy, and her eyes flooded with tears. "Oh my gosh...oh my gosh...I don't know what to say!"

Poff poiinted "Hey there's a scroll inside! Read it, read it!"

She reached a shaky hand and pulled out the scroll. She read it and gasped, her hand going over her mouth as she laughed and cried. She turned and flung her arms around Garnet "Yes...Yes! I will marry you!" she stuttered out, overcome with emotions. Poff sat down and curled her front paws under herself. She was in shock. The cat's yellow eyes were wide as she absorbed the new information. Her partner was binding herself to Garnet. Does that mean Sapphire and Gossamer are now siblings?

Larissa wiped her eyes and hiccuped, sitting up from hugging Garnet to reach into her pocket "I h-have something for you too" she warbled. Her hand was shaking as she pulled out a white velvet box, and placed it before Garnet. "It's a soul gem. From my heart. I read about them in the library. People only do it when they are serious about binding themselves to the one they love. And so I want you to have this"

User ImageShe was too busy cuddling and lavishing me with attention to notice the box, but Poff wasn't/ Poff was the one who pointed it out, and I had to resist a big grin as Larissa picked up the elaborately cared container and puzzled over it's contents. She at first thought someone had lost it-- at least until she saw the ring inside, and connected the gemstone set in it to my scales.

I did grin when she read the note, the question inside prompting a big hug around my neck. I thrummed as I wrapped one of my forelegs around her, as well as a wing to really return it.

"I love you." I said. I had expected that answer but actually hearing it... She said yes. She said yes!

Soon enough she had procured what I was guessing was another ring, intended for me. It was in a far less fancy ring box, but I lifted it into the air and opened it, looking at the ring inside with a smile. It was one of the few shades of pink I liked; that intense rose red, set in rose gold-- much like my earpiece. It looked like it wouldn't fit on my claws, but I had another way of wearing it proudly.

I squeezed my eyes, as a stainless steel chain floated out of one of my bags, long enough to fit around my neck. I strung the ring on and let it settle there; a necklace, for the moment.

"What a wonderful little treasure." I said, thrumming as I nuzzled Larissa once more. "I am grateful and honored, my love."

She watched the ring thread onto the necklace and then hang itself around Garnet's neck. The rose gold looked nice with her scales. The soul gem that was shaped in a heart shape constantly shifted and changed, swirls of pink light and fine powdered glitter moving inside it. It was alive, in a way. Just like their love for each other.

She smiled through her tears, placing kisses all over Garnet's muzzle and lips, while squeezing her tight. She gave a watery chuckle at the nuzzles. "I love you too, Garnet. I always will! I want us to be together forever. I'll make sure to put in effort to always keep a good relationship and keep our love alive" she sniffled, overjoyed and yet, tears dripped onto Garnet's scales. "I'm sorry! I don't know why I'm crying! I'm so happy! This is the happiest I've ever been in my life!"

Poff climbed onto Larissa's lap and pulled a pack of tissues out of her dress pocket. She tore them open and offered them to Larissa, who took them and started cleaning her face up. She calmed down and although her face looked somewhat blotchy and her eyes were puffy, she had a look of genuine pure joy on her face.

Poff smiled. "Now we just have to decide where to have the wedding, when to have it, and who's invited!" she meowed. She was happy for her partner, and although she had some reservations about being related to Sapphire, she would put her issues aside and try to get along. They were a family now. Soon to grow bigger with new members.

User ImageI continued to gently hug Larissa, nuzzling her and hugging her with my wings. She was crying tears of joy and peppering my face with kisses, and I thrummed happily all the while. My Larissa. Mine. I thought.

I don't know how long we cuddled there, after Poff pulled some tissues out of Larissa's dress and gave the woman something to dry her tears with-- but it seemed like mere moments before the waitress and a few others showed up with our meals. The main waitress was holding most of the food on two platters; Gossamer's fish, Sapphire's fried rice, Larissa and Poff's food. The other two were holding a larger plate between them that had my dragon sized-nigiri.

"How are you doing, ladies?" The waitress said, waiting for the other two waitresses to put my large platter down first. She then placed the other dishes around it, as my plate took up most of the table.

I sat up and looked to Larissa; her face was red and her eyes pink from her tears, but that grin. I nuzzled her gently, thrumming still, as the waitresses recognized a romantic moment and quietly left when all the food was distributed.
