but we learn better under pressure! and besides the words won't mean anything if we don't FEEL them first!

"I don't want to FEEL them" he practically shouted "I can't afford to feel... besides.. feelings are dangerous and only lead to trouble." stated matter of factly.. thats how he had survived with his parents... if he let himself feel... what they did to him would hurt 10 times as much!

he shrugged "Not feeling is a necessity in my home... it's the only way i could survive living there. Its no big deal.. but I'd rather not deal with feeling then... I always wind up more hurt then."

but... that's horrible! how...how could not feeling be better than.... than... ::suddenly, she remember once, about five homes ago, when she'd allowed herself to get close to a girl at the school of the week... and then had found out that she had been using Charli for atttention. it had hurt, knowing that someone she'd liked hadn't liked her back... was that what Torin was talking about? or... was he warning her? maybe she shouldn't be so eager to repeat that mistake... no! nonono! she couldn't let herself doubt right now.... picking right up where she'd left off:: than anything? you just... have to learn that some people aren't worth your hurt, but some are

::she blinks then hugs Torin... but there's something diffrent about this hug, it's not one of the over enthusiastic glomps that she'd given him before, it seems to lack her cheerful energy... it's the sort of hug that a loving older sister would give a younger brother who had just had his heart broken... or that of a close friend who was trying to comfort someone dear to her... without letting go of him, she says softly:: i would.... i'd be willing to hurt for you... even if i'm just setting myself up for it... even if you're just using me like she did... ::just as the hug was diffrent, so was her tone and voice. she sounded older, more mature and... sad... very sad... not at all like her chipper self::

He stiffens at the contact (not having much of it over the years) before relaxing just a tiny bit.. he wanted to believe her... "How do I know your telling the truth? You could be lying.. waiting for me to drop my guard.. thats what THEY would do." He cautiously lifted his arms around her giving a timid squeeze back "Who's she anyway?"

::still not letting go of him, it was HER turn to stiffen before forcing herself to relax:: a girl... a couple of years ago, we were living in england... near where Papa grew up... and i went to a privet school, the same one he went to. there was a girl there that made friends with me, even though i was the strange new girl... i... i thought that she really liked me, that she was really my friend... we actually managed to stay there for about a month before i over heard her talking to her girlfriends about how she had me right where she wanted me, and that there was no way she would have befriended such a... i do believe the word she used was "freak"... if she didn't have a use for me... we moved before i could confront her... ::well, the truth was that she'd gotten herself expelled before she could attempt to smack the girl... or be tempted to let Joesph deal with her::

He frowned yes Charli could be a little.. much but that was no reason for anyone to be that mean to her. "That was uncalled for.. she shouldn't have done that to you! And you should have let Joseph track kher down and kick her butt!" he stated firmly... he didn't like seeing others hurt anymore than himself.

::she giggles and pulls away, once more the hyper Charli is back:; i thought about it, but really, she wasn't so wrong, i was a bit... wrong for that school.... :;she gives him her brightest smile, pulling her cheerful act around her to hide how much the memory, added to the many other times she'd been alone as the new kid, hurt her. she was good at this act:: not many people can handle me... and the ones who can... ::small shrug:: don't usually want to

He gave her a small smile of understanding "Well if theres one thing I can relate to... it's being unwanted. Honestly I'm not sure why they had children.. oh wait yes I am.. they needed a heir to mold to their standards... *sighs* and got stuck with me. Mother says i have too much of my grandparents in me."

well, for one i'm GLAD that you're nothing like them! i don't think i like them very much and i've barely even met your mother, let alone your father... it doesn't seem like you have any decent family at all! oh! ::gives a happy gasp:: i know! ::grabs his hands:: i'll be your sister! and you can be my brother! then we'll be family, and you'll have a grandfather who wants you too!!

He blinked not knowing how to respond to that "I... I'm not sure that can work. Though.. *gives a shy smile* i always wanted a sister.. Kin was always like a brother to me. But my parents wont be pleased with any talk about another family... they like to remind me they are all i have. It's not like we can live together afterall."
