if you are going into Nurgle anyway, dont hesitate and get those Plague Marines!


When I take Plague Marines, I take them as all of my troops and usually only a single small unit of unmarked bikers.


Yeah, that's the whole issue with the special troop units for Chaos, they eat up points more than anyone else. gonk

Like the fact that you can blow 600+ pts on a full size squad of Noise Marines.


At least we're allowed to have giant units unlike the Space Marine ten man limit. Sure, they can split up, but if you just use completely standard Chaos Space Marines and focus on troops, you can completely swamp a Space Marine army. biggrin

Tactical Squad 100 pts
5 marines plus sergeant
heavy bolter, flamer
Sergeant has storm bolter (10)
Razorback transport (40) 55 pts
Extra Armour (15)
Keeping the twin linked heavy bolters

Tactical Squad (90) 195 pts
+5 marines (80)
Again heavy bolter and flamer
Sergeant has power fist (25)
Rhino (35) 50 pts
Extra armour (15)

Scout Squad (75) 100 pts
Camo cloaks (15)
Heavy bolter (10)
Rest of the squad have shotguns

Fast attack

Assault Squad (100) 145 pts
Sergeant has storm shield (15) and thunder hammer (30)

total: 780 points

Now my idea is that i can either increase the points to 980 by including assault terminators, or add some more in the way of my scouts by Sergeant Telion which will replace the sergeant of the scout squads and adding an extra 50 pts to the total, and i can also boost the unit size to 6 with the previous sergeant becoming a normal scout which will be another 13 pts.
Until i playtest the army i cant say much, but anyone out there. Is this army a yay or nay situation?

All in all i give this army a yay as its a good force, strong units and a lot of speed and mobility. The only downside i'd say is the lack of anti vehicle weaponry. My suggestion is Devastators with Multi Meltas and Lascannons, dreadnoughts with multi meltas and quite possibly a Whirlwind or even a Predator with lascannons

I can see where your coming from, and i'll definitely take it in mind. With the dreadnought i can get one from the Black Reach boxset and a unit of terminators to boost numbers. The Devastators would be good for long range, maybe even include a Drop Pod assault to surprise them. Instead of the Predator what about a Thunderfire Cannon?

Oh definetly (i think i've spelt that right) I could equip the scouts with a Teleport beacon, and buy a Land Speeder Storm for transport, and equip the Storm with multi melta i can fulfill an anti tank role as well.

I like it, and I applaud you for keeping the Captain simple instead of making him uber-expensive.

As for the Scouts, putting shotguns with a Heavy Bolter doesn't make much sense; a squad of assault weapons doesn't belong with a heavy weapon. If you want them to be a ranged asset, give them bolters or sniper rifles; if you want them to be close up, give the Sargeant a special weapon or pistol and drop the heavy bolter; since you paid for the Camo cloaks, I'd keep them as a ranged asset, especially since you've already got the assault marines for up close.

I'd suggest trying to trim 30 points off this list to make it a more standard 750 points.

I'm trying to get the army into a suitable points range, and some i can keep in mind.

I'm not maxing out my captain with a storm shield, i'm taking the thunder hammer away from my Assault Sergeant to keep it to a 750 point army. I think i'll keep the Captain as he is, attach him to my 5 man tactical squad with a Razorback, which by the way can have a flamer even if its a 5 man squad, but your right on the Heavy Bolter, and that will give him some extra protection.

I probably will exchange shtoguns for sniper rifles, there's no extra cost plus all weapons are heavy so i will keep them as a ranged assault like DarkElf27 suggested, but still give the unit an extra sting with the Hellfire Shells.

I dont think a captain with a Stormshield will make any difference. All it grants you is a 3+ invulnerable save. It's not like you gain the extra attack from it. If you want to keep the captain out of harms way and get him into combat then stick him with the 5 man tactical squad so he can drive across in the rhino.
For the assault sergeant, you might want to keep him as he is. With this army list your at a 750 turning point for an average game. The only way you can add something new is if you take something away. The way i see it the shield is neccessary; 3+ invulnerable save will keep him safe and his chainsword can do the rest of the work in the assault phase along with the grenades.
