"Where to now, Star?" Sam and Star were sitting in Sam's kitchen, her mom bustling around and fretting over her "poor baby". Her dad had gone back to the police station to talk with Officer Jenny. Star shrugged, not caring in the least bit. "How about we go somewhere with a gym? But which gym...." She thought about the gym leaders in Johto. She had alot of knowledge of the pokemon world, she had just blocked most of it out after her dreams were crushed. She saw now she had been ridiculous as a young girl. "Well....we should probably go to either Violet City or Azalea Town. Falkner and Bugsy are the leaders there. Falkner uses Flying-type though...Your Ground moves would miss. So Azalea? Bugsy has Bug-type pokemon...Apt name." Star just shook her head, realizing by now she wasn't actually part of the conversation. Sam looked to her mother. "Mom? What's the quickest way to Azalea?" Her mother thought for a moment.
"Well...quickest? That would be taking the ferry to Olivine, then the train to Goldenrod. From there, walk through the Ilex Forest to reach Azalea." Her mother had once been an explorer, and amateur spelunker, so she knew the geography pretty well. Sam thought about it.
"That may take some money...What if I just walked from Olivine?"
"You could do that, but you'd have to go through Ecruteak, and the National Park before you reached Goldenrod then. And those are treacherous routes for young pokemon." Sam wrinkled her nose.
"Mmm, fine. Danke. I'ma go tell Daddy I'm leaving then."
"Shouldn't you check the ferry schedule first?" Sam cursed lightly under her breath, so her mother wouldn't hear. Ferries out of Cianwood didn't go all that often, the next one was probably not going to leave very soon.
"Right...okay. But if there is one leaving soon, I'm getting on it." She kissed her mother's cheek and gave her a huge hug. "Come on Star!" She headed towards the police station. She met her dad halfway there. "Hey Daddy!" She gave him a hug as well. "I think I'm going to go to Olivine. I want to battle the gym leader in Azalea. Want to come with me to check the ferry schedule?"
"Okay, Goose. Are you taking the train in Olivine to Goldenrod?"
"Planning on it." They walked slowly towards the harbor, Star following behind. The big wooden board said the next ferry to Olivine was indeed leaving fairly soon. She bought her ticket, and waited on the docks. She waved. "Bye Daddy! I'll call you soon okay?" Her dad turned around, and waved back.
"I'll be expecting it!"

Eztli wasn't sure at all what to do with Zolin, but she knew she had the type-advantage. But that was all she had, seeing as the Nidorino had evolved. "Zolin, Bone Club again!" Zolin cried out again, and lept after the Nidorino. He swung, but missed, falling to the ground. The Nidorino spun around, it's horn glowing. It jabbed Zolin's stomach a few times, before Zolin rolled out of the way. Eztli quickly stole a glance at Zolin's pokedex entry, at his movelist. The Nidorino snorted, and pawed at the ground. "Zolin use Headbutt!"
"Boooone!" Zolin lept up, and jumped at an angle, his head colliding hard with the Nidorino's horn. The skull made a hollow sound, and Zolin cried out in pain. Eztli saw to her to horror that Zolin's skin had turned a purplish color.
"Poisoned? But..." Eztli quickly flipped back to the Nidorino's entry. "Ability is Poison Point...." She shook her head, and closed the dex. "Zolin, can you hang in there? You've still got the type-advantage! Use Bone Club!" She wasn't going to use Headbutt again, not after it's disastrous first result. Zolin breathed a few times, then swung his bone, smacking the Nidorino's leg. The Nidorino retaliated with a swift kick to Zolin's legs, then head. Zolin fell backwards, then scrambled away. Eztli had to think of a new strategy and fast. "I can't use a direct approach, this big brute will just murder Zolin." She gazed around. The low branches of the few trees beckoned. "Zolin, climb onto one of those branches! Throw your bone from up there." Zolin hurridley jumped onto one of the branches, but clung protectively to his bone. The Nidorino headbutted the tree, hoping to shake Zolin from his hiding place. Zolin shuddered as the poison sapped his strength. "Zolin, Tail Whip!" Zolin filpped around, and waved his tail in the Nidorino's face. The Nidorino was enraged, and it proceeded to butt the tree even harder. Zolin held on for dear life, and nearly fell from the branch.
"Bone bone bone bone!" He hung from the branch, the Nidorino circling beneath him. Eztli stepped forward to catch Zolin, but the Nidorino took a step towards her threateningly. Eztli backed away.
"Zolin, let yourself go! As you fall, use your momentum to make your Bone Club more powerful!" Zolin nodded uncertainly, and slowly let go, falling headfirst. He made himself as streamlined as possible, his bone out in front of him. The bone stabbed into the Nidorino's back, and Zolin pushed all of his weight onto it. He fell to the ground as the Nidorino staggered. It shook it's head, and let it's legs splay out. It twitched a few times, and in that time Eztli scooped Zolin up. "Okay, let's hurry and get out of here, before it gets angry again." She dashed past the fallen Poison Pin pokemon, which growled angrily, and into Fuschia City. She stopped at the Pokemon Center. "I wonder where the house is..."

"I don't know." He answered flatly, still turning the stone about in his hand. "I didn't buy this or anything, I don't even know what it is. But you're right, it does kinda look like an evolutionary stone....it's got that weird glow to it. I think maybe Ken put i tin my bag, that weirdo would do something like that." In all probability Crenu wouldn't have accepted something from Ken, or from anyone, he wasn't one to accept presents. But if he brought it up now Ken would just deny the whole thing so whatever the stone was he was stuck with it now. Though as foolish as Ken was, he didn't do anything without reason. If he gave Crenu this stone then it was because it would be of some use to him either now or later. For all Crenu knew this could have been an item to be given to a pokemon, maybe it rose some stats or powered up some moves, or maybe it really was an evolutionary item. But if that were the case it wouldn't be for later because there was no way Kenneth would know what pokemon Crenu would get in the future, even Crenu didn't know that. Or maybe he was just cleaning out some stuff in his bag and gave it to Crenu for no real reason at all, but he didn't believe that for a second. Crenu sighed, tossing the stone up into the air and catchign it again. "Well, only one way to find out. Let's put our theories to the test." Crenu tapped all of his pokeballs, one after another white light flooded out from each of them and took form a few feet before him. Six pokemon took up a lot of room, and it wasn't until now that Crenu realized that he really did have a full team now. All of his pokemon looked around curiously, not really sure what this was all about. Poliwhirl was bouncing about laughing as he thought about all the things he could do right now to spoil everyone's mood while Spearow and Pupitar just stared at him disapprovingly causing him to calm down a bit. Ariados glared at Riza, ever jealous of other females that might take away Crenu's attention from her. Snorunt sat on the floor sleepily, a little afraid to have everyone around her like that unsure about the situation, but she calmed down almost instantly as Swinub nudged her with his nose to reassure her things were fine. "Settle down, I've summoned you all to find something out for me." Crenu held out the stone in his open palm and showed it to the group. "I want you all to touch this stone, see if anyone has a reaction to it." His team thought this was kind of odd, but they listened none the less. Ariados was first, eager to do as told, breaking her glare from Riza and scurrying over, placing one of her legs on the stone. The stone didn't react at all, but continued to give off it's odd stagnant glow. Ariados was a little disappointed, but backed off. Pupitar was next, leaning forward and tapping it with the top of his head, but again nothing from either of them. Poliwhirl touched the stone still giggling, and suddenly started to shake violently! But he soon stopped, laughing at his little joke he played and walked away. Spearow gave Poliwhirl a peck on the head and quickly flew over to the stone, tapping it with his beak but nothing happened. He went back and Poliwhirl tried grabbing him, but Spearow just flew up out of reach and pecked him again. "Damn it you two, stop." Crenu spoke calmly, but he had a look in his eye that could pierce steel. Spearow and Poliwhirl stopped in their tracks and settled down, but they kept shooting glaring at each other. Snorunt and Swinub were next, but Swinub shook his head, he apparently knew something about this that the others didn't being from Sinnoh himself. He nudged Snorunt again and she nodded, nervously walking up to Crenu. He lowered his hand a bit for her and Snorunt placed her little round hand on the odd stone. The odd glow coming from the stone grew brighter and brighter, and Snorunt herself started to glow. She looked around a little scared, the sensation running through her body now was so very odd and sudden! She didn't know what to do, what had she done! Her body was now hidden in light as her body started to grow taller, takign a new shape as she rose into the air. When the light faded the stone became dark and unusable, and a new pokemon floated where Snorunt once stood. She looked around so confused, her hollow dress like body waving about. "....huh. That's interesting."
+++++++++++++++++ Ken smiled when Blazekin took the Poison Tail and recovered right away. What a gorgeous display of perseverance! "You're not going to make this easy are you Jaeshan? Oooo I love it! Ok Seviper, let's show them something truly special! Let's use the one from the last contest, that was was really pretty. Ok Seviper, Double Team!" Seviper nodded as she hissed happily, suddenly splitting apart into several copies of herself. The rocks that rained down hit one or two of the Fang Snake Pokemon, but the real Seviper was still happily slithering about around Blazeking with two of her 'friends'. "One in three Jaeshan, can you stop our next attack? Oh this is so much fun!" And it was, Ken was thoroughly enjoying himself now battling with Jaeshan. Though he still wished he'd let him pick out a new outfit for him to wear. "I'm sure you'd do well in contests maybe, ever think about trying them out?"

"Well we both might have made it to the finals but you still aren't getting past me and winning that Up-Grade!"
Dante was really done talking to the girl he just wanted to win his Up-Grade and then evolve Turn A before he got on the boat to Sinnoh. "Apollo use your Flamethrower." Apollo's long ear twitched as he listened to his trainer's slightly annoyed voice. A Flamethrower did sound like a good idea, now that Apollo though of it. Bracing himself he quickly took aim before shooting a large burst of silver fire from his mouth.
"Vigoroth dodge that Flamethrower!" The girl shouted hoping that her pokemon heard her over the din of the crowd. It turned out that her pokemon couldn't hear her and was engulfed in the silver flames. "Oh no Vigoroth!" The girl cried but her worry was really for nothing because as the flames died down an even larger shape was laying on the ground. It seemed like while being hit by the attack the Vigoroth had chosen to evolve into its much, much stronger form. Unfortunately for them while it was a lot stronger it was also very lazy.
For Dante though this was not good, not good at all. Looking on at the now enemy Slaking he couldn't help but feel a small sense of dread build up in him. Slaking was an extremely powerful when it felt like getting up. "Apollo look out." Was all he managed to say trying to think of a way to beat this monster of a pokemon while not getting Apollo killed in the process.
"Hmm, well I am glad you are ok Vig- er- Slaking but we are going to have to put you on an exercise routine after this battle, your super fat now." The nerdy girl said as she put her hands on her hips and surveyed her new pokemon. Slaking though didn't seem to like that idea and just rolled over choosing to ignore her for now.

Sasha feigned appreciation of the boy's wink, holding a slender hand to her cheek in false embarrassment. He seemed harmless enough, but this was a necessary precaution nonetheless. "I was." she replied sweetly, eying both him and his Pokemon. The Scyther seemed a bit agitated, she thought as it glared at the boy. Sasha was far from an expert on Bug Pokemon though. "That was a pretty impressive move for a new trainer." The girl said with a smile. She assumed he was new, what with the Pidgey and all; not like it really mattered.
"So what are you doing here?" Sasha inquired, her eyes wandering slightly. "You get that Scyther from the Safari Zone?"

Mike stirred awake amidst the cold stone and dark caverns of Mt. Ember, his only reprieve from the disastrous cold feeling of loneliness was his loyal Pokemon, who sheltered him from the dangers of the outside world like a mother protecting its young. The boy stumbled off from his dragon perch, smiling to the wall of photographs like the youthful beauty was there in person. "Hello my dear sweet Flannery," sputtered the boy in half sleep. "Sleep well?"
"I did my darling." replied a voice so sweet it could only have been hers. Mike whirled around in surprise to see the very object of his love standing in the opening of the cave, her beauty even more radiant than before.
"F-Flannery!" Mike cried, his eyes nearly erupting with joyful tears. "Yo-you're back! I knew you would come back to me! It was just a matter of time!" He looked back to Nitro expectantly, but the Charizard could only reply with a confused look and was promptly returned. "I'll take you out later. I just need a moment alone, buddy." The boy ran over to his love, stopping short to inspect her and pinch himself in case this was some sort of tormenting dream. Sure enough, it was neither. "I-I-I..." He became lost in his own happiness, muttering only an incomprehensible babble in pure joy. The girl's only reply was a sweet smile that seemed to sweep the very earth from under him and an embrace as warm as the very flames sleeping inside this dormant volcano.
"Of course I'd be back," the Gym Leader replied quietly, almost a whisper. "I love you."
Mike choked on his tears. "This-this means we can go back to like it was when we were kids! You can convince everyone that I'm not crazy, and you and me can run about and have fun, get into trouble, just like when we were kids...Can, can Keegan come too?" he looked up with hopeful eyes. "I miss the jerk sometimes. I haven't seen him in so long. We used to be so close..." he trailed off for a moment, but quickly returned to his love's slender arms. "It'll be just like when we were kids, before all this happened, before all this happened."
"I wonder..." Flannery murmured, her somewhat hesitant tone so subtly destructive it caused the boy's smile to instantly fade.
"What? You w-wonder what?" he said, his voice becoming filled with fear.
"Do you only love me because I mark a happier time in your life? Is it that I offer you a sort of remedy to your current situation, and that is why you run to me with such vigor?" "N-no, that's not it at all!" he struggled to remain in her arms, but the girl quickly pushed him to the ground. "That's it! You're just selfish!" she shouted, pointing an accusing finger at him. "You just want me because back then everything was happy! You don't really love me!" Mike sat there in a state of shock, wondering where his beloved vixen had gone.
"She's right you know." came a voice from behind Flannery; an all too familiar voice. "Don't you start with this crap Milo!" Mike spat. "My darling is back and we're just-we're just having a bit of a quarrel, tha-ha-hat's all!" "Pointless drivel." With a wave of his hand Milo dissipated the girl. "What? No! What did you do!? Bring her back!" "Why? So you can cling to the impossible? So you can try to turn back the hands of time? You like all the other people in this world wish for only one thing: a way to perpetuate your own selfish desires. Love is just a smokescreen you people put up to make the manipulation you work on each other seem like something akin to romantic fantasy. It's nothing but puppeteering." "Not everyone is as twisted as you!" replied the boy, averting his gaze from the figure before him. "Once again you deny the obvious." scoffed the phantom, creeping closer to the boy with a malicious smile across his face. "S-stay away from me!" Mike screamed, backing away defensively, throwing rocks and debris in hopes they would stop him. The assailing projectiles passed harmlessly through him, and he continued with strengthened zeal, standing above the boy. "I'll always be here! I'll always be in the dark, deep recesses of your mind that you hide from everyone including yourself! I will be there, feeding off of your agony, your pain, your misery! Whenever there is the slightest drop in your defenses I shall take over, spreading the true message of Mike Kyoka to the world. You are a monster, a demon. You are merely a husk of what you desire to be, and I am your true form!" Mike clasped his hands to his ears and screamed, but the words were inside his head now. Everywhere he turned Milo was there to face him, no matter where he looked. The phantom cackled evilly, grabbing hold of the boy's shoulders and screaming. "You cannot escape yourself! I will gain control over you one day and exile you to the abyss, where you will wither and die like you deserve!" Milo threw himself into a fit of demonic laughter before absorbing himself into the boy. Mike convulsed in agony at the sudden resurgence of the evil inside him. It was different, stronger than ever before. It wasn't like last time where it was a clear separation between himself and Milo. This was like a melding, a fusion. He was losing control of himself! Mike let out a frenzied cry, his hands clasping his head as if to crush it.
Suddenly, the boy sprang to his feet, his eyes glossed over by a primal rage. There was a sound outside his cavern. "Sss-some-one. Outside! Outsiiide. Outside!" It sounded like people! "Can't let them...let them find me!" He scurried around like a beast, climbing up into a small hole in the wall as he awaited his new guest, his heart pounding like a hunted animal.
"Hyeh-heh. Maybe...new friend...f-friennnd..."

"Apollo use your Fire Spin. I want you to stay as far away from that Slaking as possible though." Dante didn't really know much to do at this point. Apollo didn't have to many distance moves, only Flamethrower, Ember and Fire Spin. There was no way that he wanted Apollo to get anywhere near that beast of a pokemon either. He wanted to see Apollo the next day not be burying him in the ground. Apollo wasn't quite sure why his trainer was so nervous about this fat pokemon but he trusted him so a Fire Spin it was. Gathering his power Apollo summoned his silver flames and sent them towards the large ape like pokemon in a whirlwind of heat.
"Huh your gunna try to wear down Slaking? Well that's not going to work. Slaking let's end this now! Use your Aerial Ace!" The nerdy girl said with excitement pointing over at Apollo and Dante. Slaking glanced over at the girl and then back over at Dante and Apollo before looking back over at the girl. 'Aerial Ace? That sounded like a lot of effort. If it ended the battle though he could take a nap.' Slaking weighted the odd for a moment before deciding that he would like a nap and to not be on fire. The powerful pokemon winced slightly as the flames bit into him some more. Getting up was pretty easy despite his large frame, he had a lot more power now he just didn't feel like using it all the time now. Wanting this to be over Slaking took off his large frame moving at surprising speed as it seemed to just appear in front of the fire horse arm raised and ready to strike.
"Apollo try to escape with your Quick Attack!" Dante really did not want to be hit by such a strong attack. Dante remembered his mother's battle against a Slaking once and the devastating affect that it had on her team and he really did not want that to happen to Apollo. To say Apollo was startled at the speed of the Slaking was to say the sky was blue. Backing up Apollo seemed to sort of panic at the thought of something moving as fast as he did. Instead of doing what Dante had suggested which was get the hell out of there Apollo acted on instinct and used Fire Blast right in the Slaking's face causing it to fall down onto the ground in a toasty heap.
The crowd was silent for a moment not quite sure what had exactly happened. Dante himself couldn't believe it, sure the Slaking had taken some pretty heavy damage from before it evolved but it couldn't have been that much could it? Either way he was just glad that the beast seemed down and out.
"Well! That was certainly a good final battle for our little contest. Slaking seems unable to battle anymore so the winner is Dante and his Rapidash!" The announcer lady proclaimed as she seemed to appear behind Dante and pushed him forward. " Congratulations! You are now the proud owner of a new Up-Grade! I hope you and your Porygon enjoy such a rare gift!" She cheered happily for him.
Dante himself didn't really know what to think, he stared down at the shiny disk before back up at the announcer. Finally he shrugged, thanked her and walked away prize in hand and Apollo trotting after him proudly. He had never exactly thanked the girl for such a good battle. After a second of going through the crowd, Apollo made for a great crowd cutter, he made it to his fallen opponent. "That was a really great battle. You would have had me if that Aerial Ace had connected." He said quietly.
"You think?" The girl questioned as she looked down at her toasty Slaking. "I mean Slaking had taken a lot of damage before he evolved and plus he doesn't seem to want to listen to me anymore."
"Slaking are notoriously lazy. He probably won't listen to you a lot of the time anymore. However, if he decides to listen to you then your opponent better be ready to send out a new pokemon. Trust me Apollo would be rushing to the pokemon center right now if that attack had hit." He paused wondering if he was done here and he could go find Kasiya. "You just need to get a new battle style now." He finally added before he turned away ready to go find his friend.

The battle was a lot more interesting now that Keegan knew Dante was taking part, though as he watched the silver and black Rapidash execute his attacks he couldn't help but think of the young Ponyta his parents had given him after he'd lost Helios. He'd never really been able to bond with Mori, and even now he realized that he probably never would be able to, either. It wasn't the pony's fault though, as had he met her at any other time he probably would have enjoyed training and raising her. She deserves better than me, he thought, tossing his lighter up in the air and catching it, but he didn't know what to do with her. He wasn't about to just give her away to some random trainer on the street, but he knew it wasn't fair to keep her fenced-in back home at his parents' place, either. I'll give my mom a call later, he thought, wondering if they'd already made it back home to Lavaridge since last night. She'll probably know of someone who will take good care of her.
He glanced back towards the battle just as Apollo unleashed a powerful Flamethrower that engulfed the Vigoroth completely, though when the flames died down, the Vigoroth was no more as a giant Slaking now rested in it's place. "Oh boy, this just got a lot tougher for Dante," he muttered, chuckling to himself. Pan was still clinging to his trainer's head, his yellow eyes locked upon the two Pokemon doing battle before him. "Treeee," he said quietly to himself, looking at the large Pokemon that now sat lazily in the middle of the battlefield. He was sure that great big oaf could crush him with one swing, as his arms were like tree trunks.
Keegan touched a finger to his chin, vaguely remembering something about Norman of Petalburg Gym using a Slaking, but he somehow doubted that Norman's would be as lazy as this one. He winced when he heard the call for an Aerial Ace from the girl - if that one hit, and it was certain too, he was sure Apollo wouldn't be walking away from this fight. The redhead very nearly looked away as the hulk of a Pokemon got to his feet and raced towards the Rapidash, but before the beast could bring his mighty fist down upon the horse Apollo released a Fire Blast, and it was all over. Keegan gave a low whistle when he saw the Slaking topple over, and he felt Pan climb down onto his shoulder, shaking slightly. Without even realizing it he reached up and rested his hand on the gecko's head to comfort him, and soon after Pan calmed down.
With the battle now over, the crowd began to clear out, some people still chattering away excitedly about the fight they'd just witnessed. He noticed Dante as he exchanged a few words with the girl he'd just defeated before turning and heading on his way, and still balancing the Treecko on his shoulder, Keegan put his hands in his jacket pockets and followed after his friend, choosing not to say anything for now.

Maxi looked at Portabello with a pained face as the pokemon spoke. “Hey, I did not say we were going to spar your master. That is not how you help people unless they do that thing. In which case, then you do spar them, but the fact of the matter is I want to help you and your trainer. I do not care how powerful you or he is. When a person is in trouble you help them. That is how I was raised.” Maxi looked at the breloom and then smiled. “I will be careful don’t you worry. I usually don’t meddle with my kind much, but I feel like I could be some help to your trainer. Right Lee?” The small tyrogue leaped off his trainer’s shoulders and walked up to the breloom giving him a pat on the back and a thumbs up. Lee did not like the situation they were about to get into. His master hasn’t been in contact with his own for quite some time save the people on three island when he needed to buy supplies which was not often since he has been hunting for their food most of the time. Lee eyes stared at his master. I hope he knows what he is doing for his sake and the breloom’s trainer. The black belt could feel the eyes of his buddy piercing though his soul and he went to pick him up and placed him on his shoulder. He could feel the worry oozing from Lee and the pokemon had every right to feel such. It has been so long since I have talked to one like me. When I think about it, who was the last person I talked to? What were the last things I did? Maxi began to get lost in his mind… Six years Ago “I won’t take your garbage Heat!!!” The Blaziken before him only gaze him a blank stare before the pokemon appeared before him with a flurry of kicks. The young man duck and weaved through the onslaught of roundhouses and sidekicks, some grazing his face and sides. His instructor smiled with approval. His young boy was growing up. “Are you going to dodge all day or are you actually going to attack?” Maxi gave a frown to his instructor quickly before turning back to his opponent. Sadly, a kick met his face and he flew back into the wall, his spine popping as he made contact with the wall. The young boy stood up instantly pushing the pain away and began to charge the Blaziken with a flurry of his own kicks. The fire pokemon seemed to be dancing as he dodged every kick. Heat’s face showed no signs of physical stress and that made Maxi mad. “So you think you can slack off eh? This won’t be like the other 87 fights!!” Maxi stopped mid roundhouse and watched as the fire pokemon gave a puzzled look. Then with a little smile Maxi rushed his opponent and ridge-hand it in the groin. The bird gave a twisted face of pain, but the attack was not over. “Get ready for the suffering” the young boy bellowed as he brought the bird into a fireman’s carry from the ridge-hand. Blaziken hurt and confused was ready to break out of it when suddenly it found itself in the air. It looked down and noticed that Maxi was with him as well. Also that an axe kick was going towards its face. Heat tried to block the incoming attack, but it was too late. The fire pokemon let out a cry as the kick connected and he hit the ground. Maxi landed right next to Heat and was ready to bring down another kick when suddenly his ribs made a cracking noise. He looked down to notice that he was flying back once more and that the Blaziken foot was in his chest. The boy tried to scream, but nothing came from it. His eyes wide with terror as he looked into its eyes. Maxi began to struggle, but darkness took him seconds after… I will become stronger, you’ll see. Stronger than any human and pokemon and then they will know my resolve.Maxi awakened from his trance-like state and looked at the breloom. “I sm sorry for dazing out you must forgive me. Shall we be off?” Maxi had a stoic expression on his face as blood began to fall from his eyes.

"...but the fact of the matter is I want to help you and your trainer. I do not care how powerful you or he is. When a person is in trouble you help them. That is how I was raised.” Portabello found himself calmed by the human's words. He and my master share many qualities. he thought to himself. Before the Breloom could suggest they leave, he saw Maxi become lost in thought. It was a tale of broken bones and hardened resolves. For a moment, he wished they had the chance to practice together. Following Maxi's daydream, he noticed a slight trickle of blood fall from his eyes, and was about to make a mention of it when-
"Kyeeh-haaa-hahahha! HAHAHA-HAAA"
Portabello was interrupted by a horrendous laughter that cascaded from the top of the volcano; the noise like broken glass. Maste-! Argh!! the Breloom cried in pain, his mind assaulted by his trainer's sudden spike in brain activity. Sir Maxi! he said after a deal of focusing. His voice was accompanied by fragments of Mike's screaming and laughter that clung to his mind. My master is in peril! We must hurry! Clutching his head, the Breloom hurried ahead, making a single tremendous leap with his powerful legs and disappearing into a cavern near the top of the volcano.

As far as Kasiya was concerned, Dante had this battle in the bag, as from what she could tell Apollo was much, much stronger than the golden-coloured Vigoroth. She let out another loud cheer as the Wild Monkey Pokemon disappeared in a blast of silver and black fire, but she could only stop and stare in confusion as an entirely different Pokemon was there when the flames died down. "What happened?" she asked a boy standing next to her, a little too stunned to go for her PokeDex. "Did she change Pokemon in mid-attack or something?"
The boy looked at her and laughed. "No, her Vigoroth evolved into Slaking," he said. "That Rapidash is in trouble now."
"Oh," was all Kasiya could say in response. She didn't think Slaking looked anything like it's previous form, as most Pokemon kind of kept the same look to them. "I guess it's still ape-like," she said with a shrug, pulling Nova down into her arms as the Charmander had started pulling her hair without meaning to. The big Pokemon reminded her of Snorlax as it just sat there, but when it got to it's feet, it did so with such speed and agility that it was almost scary. However, Apollo seemed to know just what to do as he felled the mighty Slaking with a single Fire Blast, and Kasiya was sure she was cheering the loudest when it collapsed in a heap.
Now that the fight had ended, a lot of the people who'd been watching had started to clear out, and Kasiya moved off to the side where she was sure Dante would be able to spot her. She was quite excited to be able to help him evolve his Porygon. "Wasn't that a great battle, Nova?" she asked, rubbing the Charmander's head affectionately. Nova agreed, and clapped her hands together. She couldn't wait to fight in big important matches like that one for Mama! Kasiya set her down on the ground, laughing as she watched the young lizard sparring with an invisible partner.
Nova noticed Dante and Apollo approaching first, and she let out a happy squeal and waved, but then she caught sight of a familiar redhead a ways behind them. She remembered him, he'd been there with Mama when she had came out of her egg! The Charmander eagerly rushed toward Keegan and tackle-hugged his leg. Kasiya giggled to herself as she watched Nova's antics, and she looked over at Dante. "You guys were great out there," she said, nodding to her friend. "Congratulations!"
=-=-=-=-= "Nice move," Jaeshan mumbled to himself, quite impressed with Ken and Seviper thus far. He too was enjoying this match as Ken was keeping him on his toes. Plus, it was great experience for both him and Blaziken. He'd honestly never thought about competing in contests, as they were much different from traditional battling. "Not really," he called out to Ken, still keeping his gaze on the trio of Seviper as they slithered towards Blaziken. "But after this I might have to give it a try."
Blaziken jumped back as the three Seviper closed in on her. She didn't want to chance getting bitten by those poisonous fangs again, and she listened attentively for her master's next command. Jaeshan narrowed his eyes at the three, wondering how he could pick out the real one. He also knew that Double Team clones were just that, clones, and that they didn't stand up to any sort of interaction whatsoever. Okay, I think I've got it, he nodded to himself. "Blaziken, Sand-Attack! Kick up as much dirt as you can!" The Blaze Pokemon gave a nod and laced into the ground with her foot, sending up a large barrage of sand and grit towards the oncoming snakes. The dirt would probably be enough to wipe out the clones with the added bonus of making it harder for Seviper to land her attacks on Blaziken, as well.

Dante grinned slightly at Kasiya's happy words and was about to say something when he saw Nova rush past him. Glancing back he spotted a very familiar redhead. "Keegan!" He said in surprise and a fair bit of happiness. He hadn't seen the other boy in a while and unlike a lot of people he actually liked the other boy. Keegan and Kasiya were here though, were they getting along at the moment? Dante was never quite sure with them since they seemed to fight and make up all the time. Glancing over at Kasiya though she didn't seem to be upset at him so he figured it was ok. "Ah thanks Kasiya." He smiled slightly before it disappeared into a frown. "I am lucky Apollo didn't listen to me and instead blasted the Slaking. I don't think we would have won if he hadn't done that." Slaking was one of the strongest pokemon in the world, if that pokemon really wanted Apollo hurt then there was really nothing they could do to stop it.
Behind him Apollo pranced about with a bit of excess energy. He was getting off of a battle high and he needed to either run or get put back into his pokeball. The the mighty fire horse did like the sight of the small little fire lizard running around. It wasn't often that he got to see a lot of fire types and especially young ones like this one. On top of that the nice redhead he had met a while ago was there. Trotting over to the other two he whinnied and nudged Keegan happily.
"Ah, now that I have my Up-Grade would you still be interested in trading Turn A with me?" He asked Kasiya curiously. She might want to talk to Keegan some, then again Dante wanted to talk to the other boy as well. Who knew maybe he would come with them to the pokemon center, Dante did need to get his pokemon healed up some more as well.

Keegan wasn't at all surprised to see that Kasiya was here as well, though he was not expecting the young Charmander to tackle him like that, and she actually almost threw him off balance. An irritated Pan jumped to the ground, eying Nova suspiciously. "Hello to you too, Nova," Keegan said, bending down to pat the lizard on the head. Holy hell, that Charmander gets bigger every time I see her! He looked towards the silver and black Rapidash next, nodding. "And you, Apollo, that Fire Blast was nicely done," he added, standing up again to stroke the fire horse's muzzle. "You really showed them how it's done." He couldn't help but smile, as sometimes it seemed like all of his friends' Pokemon seemed to like him more than their trainers did. He looked over at the auburn-haired boy and smirked. "Hey Dante, I thought you were in big trouble for a minute there," he said once he'd reached his two friends. "Luckily you Apollo is a quick thinker though."
Pan tottered along apprehensively after Keegan, his yellow eyes darting between the Charmander and Rapidash. Every time he looked at the two of them, he couldn't help but feel an instinctual fear deep inside, and try as he might he couldn't shake it. "Treecko. Tree," he grumbled, tugging on Keegan's pantleg impatiently. When the redhead didn't answer him he simply grumbled to himself and began to climb up the boy, once again taking up residence on Keegan's shoulder.
"Oh, uh, this is Pan," he said, nodding to the gecko. Pan stuck his tongue out at the two humans, but followed it up with a grin and a little wave. He looked down at the fiery lizard again and shivered, wishing these fiery Pokemon would go back in their Pokeballs already. Noting the strange disc in Dante's hand as he mentioned something about a trade, Keegan spoke up again. "Up-Grade? What's that for?" he asked. "And what's a Turn A?"

Kasiya smiled as she watched Keegan with Nova and Apollo. He had quite a way with Pokemon, though she never did understand how he could do so and have such lousy people skills. "An Up-Grade is a special item used to evolve Porygon into Porygon2," she explained to the redhead, "and Turn A is Dante's Porygon. And of course I'll make the trade with you. I can't wait to see a Porygon2 with my own eyes!" Nova, meanwhile, had been happy with the attention she received from Keegan, though when she saw the Treecko her eyes lit up and she wandered over to him to say hello. He got up on the redhead's shoulder before she could, however, and she frowned before going back over to Kasiya's side and clinging to her leg, a little sad that the green Pokemon didn't seem to like her.
"Hmm?" Kasiya murmured, looking down at the upset Charmander. "Oh, it's okay, sweetie," she said, scooping the lizard up. "I think Pan might be afraid of you because you're a Fire-type," she said gently, turning to Keegan and the Treecko. "It's nice to meet you," she said, holding out her free hand for the Grass-type to examine. "This is Nova, she just wants to be your friend, she won't hurt you." She smiled warmly before looking towards Dante again. "Should we get to the Pokemon Center? It won't be too long until the boat leaves." She felt a pang in her stomach when she spoke, and she looked guiltily away from Keegan. She still hadn't decided fully if she was going to go to Sinnoh or stay here in Hoenn with him. She wanted to do both so badly that it felt like her heart was being torn in half. I have to deliver that package for Professor Oak though, she thought. I can't let him down, but at the same time I know Keegan will be upset with me...

Dante just watched as Keegan interacted with Apollo for a moment before going over to the fire unicorn and steering him away. "Apollo I need to get you healed up. I know you missed Keegan but we need to get you healed up and ready to get on the boat. Once you get on though I am sure lots of people would like to admire you ok?" He spoke softly to the strong but easily spooked Rapidash. Putting him back inside of his pokeball Dante glanced back over to Kasiya and gave her a small smile. "Ah thanks, I don't know if grumpy would have helped me with that. Then again he did help me get that gym badge." He grinned slightly at the memory before glancing over at the other. He was pretty sure that Keegan would not have forgotten the time Dante made him cross dress. Than again Dante couldn't believe the other boy hadn't just punched him in the face when he had asked him.
"Ah we should go to the pokemon center though." Dante muttered. "You two can talk for a moment I need to get my pokemon healed before I even think of evolving Turn A." He grinned at the two before heading off the the sort of nearby pokemon center. Walking through the sliding glass doors he walked up to the counter had placed Turn A, Xannon, and Apollo's pokeballs down onto the counter. "Nurse Joy could you heal my pokemon for me?" He asked the kind pink haired nurse.
"Of course I can. It will just take a moment." She took the three pokeballs from him and placed them on the healing machine thing. It didn't take to long seeing as Dante's pokemon weren't hurt all that much. With a ding it finished and the nurse was handing Dante his pokeballs back. "Good job winning that Upgrade." The nurse said with a small wink in his direction.
Dante was a bit surprised at that and he stared at her for a moment before he smiled slightly at her. "Thank you Nurse Joy." With that he got out of the way of the other customers before releasing Turn A. The Porygon appeared a small digital sound coming from him as he looked up at Dante. "I won that Up-Grade. Would you like to use it?" He asked. As far as he knew Porygon didn't change much when they evolved, other then their appearance and their power. Turn A didn't seem to mind and the Porygon nodded and floated over to where Dante was standing holding the Up-Grade disk up. "All right then. Hold onto this, I need to trade you over to Kasiya for a bit. You will be coming right back though." He said as he handed the Up-Grade disk over to Turn A who seemed to absorb it in a strange sort of way.

Pan leaned towards Kasiya carefully. This was the girl his trainer had been talking to this morning. He nodded at her and bumped her hand with his forehead in a friendly manner. "Tree," he said, now looking towards the Charmander, and he doffed an imaginary hat. Considering that she only had the one open flame on her tail he guessed that she wasn't so bad, and he felt much better now that the giant horse-that-was-on-fire was gone. The Treecko yawned loudly and slumped a little on Keegan's shoulder. He was still feeling pretty worn out from the bout with that Kecleon and now he just wanted to sleep. He'd get his wish though, as Keegan put him back in his Pokeball.
"Who's grumpy?" he asked, smirking at Dante. No, in fact, it was quite the opposite. He was probably the furthest thing away from grumpy right now, as nights like the one he'd just experienced had a way of changing one's mood quite significantly. He shook his head at the mention of Celadon gym, and groaned. "Yeah, don't remind me," he grumbled. He'd definitely not forgotten that little adventure and he was sure he never would. He also would have helped Dante with the evolution, had he been asked to, but it was obvious that Kasiya quite eager for the job and he wasn't going to stop her. Besides, she'd helped him evolve Tierra not too long ago and he remembered just how excited she'd been that day, too.
"So, uh, yeah," he mumbled once Dante had started for the Pokemon Center, and he shoved his hands in his pockets and looked at the ground. "You should probably follow him," he said to the girl, though he was suddenly unable to look her in the eye now that they were alone. "Don't want to keep him waiting, and besides that, the ship will be leaving soon. I'll walk with you, since Pan needs to be healed anyway." Without waiting for an answer he started towards the Pokemon Center as well. As the morning progressed he could feel guilt beginning to well up inside his stomach, as his actions last night were already starting to weigh heavily on his conscience. He knew that if Kasiya were to find out about him and Mai, she'd never forgive him, though a part of him was practically dying to tell her, namely because he knew that if she found out from Mai, it would be that much worse. He remembered the note in his pocket and he frowned, knowing he'd be forced to keep it a secret for who knows how long, and he sighed. I really need to start thinking things through, he thought sullenly as he walked.
