Ephlas nodded. "If we don't encounter Perrault and our... demon friend," Ephlas told them, just barely jumping out of the way of a fast-moving purple light, "then, when we escape this place, I can stop by a pond of water and scry their location."
Ephlas ducked as another fast-moving purple light skimmed by his head. "Am I going to have to be doing this constantly?" He asked, abruptly.
Either, for some reason, the lights were attracted specifically to him, or he was just unlucky. He knew that he had dispelled the magical spell earlier....

"AAK!" Perrault effectively detached Farfarello from the wall (as it was very flat and not climber friendly to begin with) and fell down on top of the elf. "YOU. ARE SO. PATHETIC!!" Farfarello's ears twitched and rang with the echoes of Krestere's wailing. He swirled around, "And don't do that in here!!" Farfarello's irritation had returned.

Hashmal strode forward, surrounded by a dark aura. The lights fled from the Dark Knight. "These things never bothered me... And they are the source of most of the Deep magic... But the Arcanicite tunnel has the highest concentration. Step lively, after this hallway is the last elevator..."
(I'm on in the morning and in the afternoon... and sometimes night, but that depends on what I do during the day... I have to do housecleaning...)

Raedou looked around. As they walked forward, the mines began to gradually change color; the walls were now a blood red, and a strange fog engulfed the tunnels. The purple aura was now yellow, and moving faster than ever. The heartbeating noise also got louder, followed by an eerie breathing sound.
A Gravlie sped up from behind Raedou, charging unknowingly at full speed, on a collision course to back of the old Ganzi's head.
Raedou ducked, letting the Gravlie speed back into one of the eerir yellow currents.
"I guess this is why the lower levels of the Gravity Mines are so dangerous..." mumbled Raedou cautiously, "I just hope that we make it to the monster before we are killed by a swarm of tiny wisps..."
He shuddered at the thought.
Suddenly, the ground began to rumble. Raedou braced his legs in a defensive position, preparing to be blown back, but that did not happen. Instead, the wall in front of them exploded, and out crawled an enormous, crab-like behemoth.
The monster was a dark purple color, with one tiny claw and one gigantic claw, the gigantic one being shaped like an overly ornate pair of four-bladed scissors. Raedou could see his reflection in the monster's several glazed, green eyes. The monster opened it's mouth and let out a loud roar, revealing several mandibles and four rows of razor sharp teeth.
"The Horde is here?!" Raedou bellowed, surprised at such an ambush.
He turned to his allies.
"Run to the other side!" he yelled, "There's no stopping that beast if it rams you!!"

Ephlas did not wait; he ran. Through the crystal catacombs, jumping craters, dodging around stalagmites, and ducking under luminous wisps. In front of him, he weaved an intricate spell of Symbolism, without looking, causing a trace of golden glowing light to fall into place wherever his finger traced.
It was a magic glyph, and with it, Ephlas planned to illuminate that cave as bright as the sun.

Raedou ran with Ephlas, wondering frantically what he was doing.
"Ephlas!" he yelled, "What are you doing?! That had damn well better not be more of your Deep Magic, mage!"
The Giant Crab crawled sideways (like all crabs do) and began to quickly gain speed. It held it's claw out towards Raedou, hoping to grasp him with it. The Crab smashed his claws together.
Snap! Raedou swiftly ducked and continued running.
Snap! Snap! Raedou barely dodged the attacks, and pushed himself to run faster.
"I can't take this!" he scowled as he ran for dear life, "Ephlas, hurry up with that spell, dammit!"

((Okay, for this next act, I'd like to call a little spell called "Shoop da Whoop" xD))
Still running, Ephlas performed the dangerous task of looking backwards, and not focusing on where he was going. His arm outstretched, Ephlas pointed three fingers at the giant crab, which was merely yards away - uncomfortably so.
"Tekontos Nor Letos," Ephlas murmured. The incantation reverberated throughout the caves, echoing, but this is not what would draw one's attention.
A sphere of light appeared at the tip of Ephlas' fingers; no bigger than a small coin.
Then it erupted, into thousands upon thousands of rays of light, bulging and surging like a wave of air, spewing out massively from a point following Ephlas' fingers around.
The massive swell of light illuminated the entire cave, at least what was visible at the greatest distance, and then - it became brighter.
So bright, that all one could see was white. And the energy of light, it traveled, as if a living, tangible object... blasting directly into the crab's many-faceted eyes.
Such a spell, if directed at a human who was accustomed to daylight for eighteen hours a day, would leave the poor soul without hair, without clothing, and blinded temporarily for a month. There was no heat; it was pure photon energy, summoned from high above, very near the sun's location in space.
It was light and light only, without heat. But it was devastating, using the forbidden arts of Symbolism. ((Added to the front page.))
The entire cave was a blinding white for at least ten minutes after the spell had been cast. Even though they'd not been hit directly, all inhabitants of the cave were unable to see until the supernova of light faded from existence.
When the light faded and relinquished vision to the humans, Raedou, and Hashmal, they would find Ephlas stretched out on the floor, hoping not to get struck by a passing wisp.
((Oh, and gtg.))

The Draon's eyes were the first to regain their vision. The blinded crab was stunned, so Hashmal took the opportunity to stab her blade directly into the creature, the incredibly sharp edge actually piercing the monster's hide but it was not enough.
"Skurruta Animagos Cirset Lumita!" The purple dinged lightning flared from the bade, "This is for the Draons who died defending their homes from the Horde! It's less than you deserve."

Ephlas struggled to his feet after a time. He swayed, standing, and gently rubbed his head. "I'm developing a gigantic migraine," he murmured, ignoring that the battle was still raging on. Any denizen of the night would be paralyzed by his previous spell for some time, rendering it at least handicapped, if not incapacitated.
"Woo," Ephlas said, shaking his head. "What a doozy."

(nice)
Clem, luckily, was protected partially by his goggles. He ran to the Magus side as soon as he spoke, "A migraine? I have a medicine for that..."
"So do I!" injected Hashmal, shoving her blade in deeper, "I call it pain!"

The Giant Crab felt the sting of lightning from Hasmal's blade, and began to screech and wildly thrash about, failing it's greater claw around and around.
The claw began to seep a faint light, and then burst into small pieces, leaving only a disfigured stub. The arm segments were to follow, along with the smaller claw, the Giant Crab's six legs, it's carapace, and then finally, the rest of it's hulking body. It was disgusting to watch.
Milky green fluid splattered in every direction, along with tiny Crab bits.
"A bit of an overkill..." said Raedou as he wiped the Crab's insides off of his helmet, "but I must admit... that was quite a lightshow."
He put his hands on Ephlas and Hashmal's shoulders.
"You both did very well." he said proudly, "I could not have done that in a million years... Excellent work, my friends."
He then turned back towards the final elevator... the passageway to the fifth level of the Gravity Mines. Soon, they would be out of this hellish place and safe in Eopia with Callisto and Jaeto.
"Let us go." said the Ganzi, "Our final challenge lies just ahead."

Clem gagged as he looked at the gore covering the room... and the smell!
Hashmal withdrew the blade from the ground. she'd stabbed right through. The purple energy died away from her blade. For a moment, she loked at the gore on her armor and made a motion with her fingers. The purplish energy flared around her and covered her armor for a brief second, and then it died, leaving the Draon's armor clean.
"Overkill? I think not... Any Horde creature I meet will suffer the same fate for what they've done."

Ephlas grimaced, but he was untouched by gore or guts. He wasn't grimacing at the smell, either, however.
What in the world have we allied ourselves with?
Then, the Magus stood. His use of... Symbolism, would not seem any more out of the ordinary than any of the rest of his self, so there was no threat of detection, but what if - the Ganzi, perhaps, or possibly the Dark Knight (though this was after her time), might perceive the significance of the deed.
Or not. Ephlas dusted himself off, then gratefully accepted the headache medicine from Clem.
