Shael smiled warmly. "Then I hope that you and I both survive for that long, so that I may see those changes," she told him. "I know you have a great amount of skill, and your work is being watched over by those who wish you to succeed, so I believe that you will indeed survive."

And she looked at him a moment longer without saying anything, then tilted her head again and smiled. "But I should not keep you from your journey, you must be anxious to leave."

"Then maybe I'll catch you when I get back," he replied.

Though he wasn't so sure about that, there was always that chance. Seeing as he always stayed for the night on the day he came back. Upon Kara's insistance of course. He turned slighly to look at Celebor.

"Ready?"

Celebor nodded, then chuckled a bit.

"Considering that it's my first hunt," he nodded, "I think I'm about as ready as I can be."

He shouldered his bag and started towards the horses.

Shael waved to the three of them before making her way in the direction of the stables and disappearing inside.

Celeborn waved back at her, then turned his attention to Celebor.

"You may want to carry your weapons on your person," he told the teen. "You never know what might happen in the forest, or when it might happen, and you always have to be ready for everything."

He motioned to his waist, where he had both his sword and a quiver of arrows. "Always ready."

Elrohir nodded to Donovan. "Safe journey, all of you," he said crisply. "And ... I know Celebor thinks he'll be fine ... but ... you know what I was like after the first time I took a life, you may want to prepare him ahead of time for it."

He paused a moment, then nodded again and turned to go into the house.

Donovan nodded before he turned to join the other two. Unfortunately there was no real way to prepare Celebor for something like that, all he could do was give Celebor the easier of the two assignements and then let him recover as he and Celeborn went for the larger group.

Celebor was a little startled at Celeborn's words: he had thought that at least on the ranch they wouldn't have to worry ... but then he remembered exactly how many guards there were, guarding the place day and night, and he realized that Celeborn was exactly right, he would have to be very careful, and prepared for a fight at any moment.

He nodded. "Right. Sorry."

And he unslung his bag and pulled on his sword, quiver, and bow before hanging his bag on the horse's back.

Celeborn nodded, satisfied, and watched the teen pulling on his weapons. As Donovan approached, he glanced over at the man, and as soon as he was close enough he murmured, "It looks like we've got a real quick learner here."

Truth be told, he was rather impressed with how Celebor was able to put his weapons on quickly and efficiently. Many people took years to learn how to do that well.

"Those like him... become adults within two years... maybe even less," Donovan replied back softly, "They have to be."

It was one of the few advantages to being someone who grow in stages like Celebor. On the other hand, for those who didn't grow as fast, it was a bit... sad he thought in a way.

At least that is the impression he got from Kara anyhow. Strapping his bag to the other horse, Donovan checked to make sure it was secure.

His weapons prepared, his bags on the horse, Celebor mounted and waited for the other two to join him.

"Ready," he announced grimly.

Celeborn nodded and climbed up onto the cart.

"Follow me," he instructed the others, waiting patiently for Donovan to mount his own horse.

Donovan mounted his horse, it seemed like everything was as it should be, which was good to say the least.

"Let's go."

The sooner they could do this, the sooner it would be over.

Celeborn nodded and clicked his tongue at his horse, and the cart started rolling out of the yard towards the forest of the south. With that single movement, the three of them were on their way - hunters in search of their prey.

Meanwhile, back inside the house, Ahren had finally finished his breakfast. The moment he had swallowed the last bite of food (nearly choking on it in his haste) he bolted for the door.

Unfortunately for him, Elrohir was standing there, almost as if he had been expecting him. He grabbed his son by the shoulder and turned him around, marching him right back into the dining room.

He looked down at Lin. "Lin," he murmured softly, "do you think you could do me a favour? Perhaps try to keep Ahren occupied for a while?"

"I can do it, Papa!" Arwen volunteered eagerly, sticking her hand high in the air to get his attention.

But Elrohir shook his head. "You have your lessons to worry about first," he told her.

Lin wasn't sure how she was going to keep Ahren occupied, but she could try.

"Sure," she replied, "We can go play somewhere.. or something."

Or she could drag Ahren to the barracks with her to visit Halmir and Arthael.... or something like that. Though she wasn't even sure why he needed to be kept occupied.
