"ELRUDA!" Roared an angry voice, Senju Anzu's.

Now that there was a gaping view to the open city where the apartment wall with the window once stood as proudly as the walls of Troy (not really!), but undoubtedly, outside, and very closely so - perhaps even just around the corner of the gaping hole, upon the fire escape - two people in particular were arguing, or judging by the pieces of "conversation", a young man with long black hair upswept into a high ponytail was dragging a little girl by the ear.

"You! You! What the hell?! Advancing to blow up the village now, are we! What would your mother say, if she knew (and oh, believe me, she will!)! And that isn't just it - what would your father have said!?"

"Owowowowow! Get your paws off me! I said I was sorry! ...hey, hey don't go bringing otou-san into this!"

"Hardly!" Screamed Anzu, losing all composure. "And you are right, if only Juudaime-sama was still around! If only-..."

Elruda huffed.

"Well, excuse me for NOT being perfect like okaa-san."

"That was-! You know what! I don't care! You are going to stay here, and I don't care if it takes one, two, three nights or years...and right this!"

"B-but! What about dinner! And meals? Surely, even indebted servitude has some sort of protections??? I'll sue you, meanie Anzu!"

"MY FAULT, IS IT, NOW??? Why you, you-...THERE SHOULD BE A LIMIT TO SUCH SELFISHNESS! First trying to destroy the decorations we placed up for the Juugodaime's inauguration ceremony! Then, then-...HEY, WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING?! ELRUDA? ELRUDA!!!"

Ignoring Anzu, and wanting to survey the exact extent of damages herself, having gathered tears to her eyes (quite honest at both feeling rather guilty for the mistake, and also from the throbbing pain of her ear), Elruda had invited herself in to the apartment, and gulping, stared at the panicked girl who...was running around with some rolls of duck tape???

Huh?

Civilians were so weird.

"A-ano..." Beads of sweat began forming behind her head. "Ummm...I'm...very...sorry? Gomen nasai! That wasn't supposed to be the one that was used!!!" She looked sorrowfully at the remnants of the bomb's shell, and then realized, a teddy bear's head laid next to it. "Did..." It immediately clicked.

The next thing Kaede would know, would be Elruda having gotten all too suddenly close, holding the other girl's hands - equally panicked now (think Miranda xD). "IMEANIAMREALLY, REALLY, SORRYABOUTYOURHOUSEOHKAMI, oh kami, the bear, THE BEAR!!! I'LL PAY, I'M SOREEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!"

World's Hardest Jig-Saw Puzzle
With the power of five and a half duck tape rolls, Shin-san and Mikage-san's assistance, Kaede plans on repairing her apartment before the genin exams end. Repair: Advanced (cutting-edge, broken great sword or other advanced things)/25/10 hr.
DC: 25
Formula: 15 (1d20) + 2 (repair [int mod]) = 17 (fail, what a surprise!).
Successes: Doesn't matter. She won't fix it. It's a really dumb plan.
Rewards: A fixed apartment, lowered blood pressure, and a semi-peaceful mind.

"F-fix... must fix... br-broken things everywhere... fix..." Kaede mumbled to herself.

After trying to tape a coffee table yet have it fall over on a limp for the umpteenth time, Mikage-san hit the damn thing with her walking cane. She didn't collapse when her leg was broken moreso than this stupid table. Disciplining Shirayuki Yamato into becoming a respectable citizen would be a more plausible task than this! No, this nonsense had to stop now, before the girl hurt herself further than she has now. Though from the pitiful yelp, she was too late to prevent that. Kaede tripped over a shattered nightstand and her hand accidentally stabbed itself on a shard of glass. Oh Kami... she had to do something about this right now!

"Kaede-chan," Mikage-san firmly pressed. "Kaede-chan, you need to sit down so you can get better."

"Wh-whaaaaaaat is it, Mikage-saaaan? Th-there's something wr-wrong with meeeeee~?"

Oh good, the girl was finally starting to come around and start listening to her for once!

"Yes, you need to rest your head-"

But Mikage-san stopped talking once again... unable to do anything else but gape as the girl unrolled another strip of duck tape and slapped it on her forehead.

"Am I f-f-fixed now Sniffle. Mikage-saaaaaan?"

-and your hand... but if she said that right now, the girl would probably "fix" THAT too, before disinfecting. Oh Kami...

"..."

How should she deal with this clearly emotionally unstable girl without having her hurt herself more than she already has? Without upsetting the girl cry further? That was clearly the last thing the both of them wanted.

"... No." Mikage-san lifted one of her hands to her forehead to rub her eyebrows. "You know what you need to do? You nee-"

"O-oh right. It wouldn't work unless th-the tape is touching my br-brain, not my sk-skull. I need a-a-a scalpel to get to m-my brain. Do you h-h-have a sc-scalpel Mikage-saaaaan?"

"N-no, I don't." A sigh. "Look, I've been trying to be patient with you, Kaede-chan. I've been playing along until you finally calm down, but now this needs to stop. I know this is probably a VERY stressful time in your life for you now, but will you let me finish talking young girl?"

A shaky nod.

"Good, now as I was say-"

But the elderly woman found herself interrupted once more, much to her dismay, when a frantic young girl ran into the apartment.

"-ing... I give up."

Really, it was as if there was some divine force that enjoyed interrupting her in the middle of her sentences. And that girl, it seemed she was a Hyuuga, but not the Hyuuga that little Kaede was making a gift for. And from her hysterical apology, it would seem the girl was the culprit. Goodness! What is today's hokage even THINKING? Allowing little children run around with what are clearly dangerous objects!? Young Kaede was lucky she wasn't in the apartment when that bomb set off. What would have happened if she didn't happen to be strolling by and dragged the girl to her home? She could've... she could've... Ooooh, she WILL have a word with him AND the council. Mark her words!

"... fixing the wall. Fiii-"

!

Kaede winced when the other girl - her eyes were just like Hyuuga-san's, they kind of reminded her of Hyuuga-sama too - gripped her hands.

"Y-you shouldn't do th-that..." Kaede murmured. Still in a daze, mind spinning in her own little world, unaware of the girl's panic or her words. "You'll, you'll Hiccup. you'll get bl-blood on them, Hyuuga-hiiiiime..."

If she was herself right now, she'd have pulled away and bow her head to the noble. Even if the girl was her age. Instead, the girl allowed the other girl to grip her hand. Her ears only caught onto a few words that slipped out of Hyuuga's mouth.

"...bear. you mean Sh-shin-san? He-he's a kitty... A r-r-really cute kitty, but I su-suppose you wouldn't be able t-t-to tell from his b-bed hair. Heh. Silly Sh-shin-san. I t-told you to go w-waaaash your face. Didn't I?"

But he didn't, because... because... fur was hard to dry? N-no... that wasn't right.

"P-paaaay?" Kaede tilted her head with a loopy smile. "Ye-yes... rent, we need to pay r-r-rent for the apartme... what a-a-apartment? There i-isn't... What's a-an ap-p-p-partmeeeeeeent...? Heh. Heh. Si-silly Shirayuki, th-thinking of fairy tale things that d-d-don't exist."

Fairy tale. If only there was a genie that could grant her three wishes. Or do a good deed for a witch that would reward her. Or invent a time machine and fix, well... if it was a time machine there would be so many other things she'd fix too. Her father would be happier, and she could see her and... Oh, that would be nice.

Wait, this is it! Why didn't she think of this sooner!? Why didn't Shin-san think of this plan sooner!?

"A TIME MACHINE!"

"... What?"

"All w-we need is to go b-back through time and prevent the end of the w-w-world f-from happening just like... l-like Fu-future Trunks!"

Oh goodness. The girl was so desperate for a solution, that her ideas were growing more and more out of control. Damn that unruly Juugodaime! Not a single good thing has happened to this village ever since he showed up at this village twenty-five years ago.

"K-Kaede-chan... I don't think-"

"A fish tank! We need a fish tank and a clothes hanger and... and..."

If a reasoning with logic wouldn't pull the girl out of trying such an inane idea, then perhaps reasoning on her own terms would persuade the child.

"... Kaede-chan, that won't work. Haven't you ever read the Butterfly Effect?"

"SO WE DON'T STEP ON ANY BUTTERFLIES! I-its not like they did anything to u-u-us anyway. Bulma, d-d-d-do you have any fish tanks?"

Kaede looked at "Bulma" as she spoke to Mikage-san.

"N-no... no, I don't have any fish tanks."

A hard look. Kami, did she really want her to call her...? Oh, she did.

"Trunks... you need to lay dow-"

"Do-do you Chichi? I sw-swear I'll p-pay you back, even if-if you don't remember this after go-go back into the past."

Minoru ran through the crowds, not caring who saw him or what they thought. His strange clothing, more like the tribal nomads who roamed the deserts, probably made them wonder who he was. It didn't help that he broke every trend in Konoha. His face paint, his hair, EVERYTHING about him practically screamed FORIEGN.

But he didn't care at all, not right now. He was looking for a way out of where he was.

And then he saw it. A house without a wall. What a brilliant idea! Whomever lived there was surely lived there was surely a genius of the highest caliber.

He casually walked through the hole and much to his surprise; it appeared that there was some form of party going on. Not that he cared much for manners; they were at best things for civilized people. Weak people who didn't want to say what they felt.

There was some old woman, a young girl with a strange symbol on her, a larger man with another strange symbol, and another young girl. It would have been pretty normal had the latter been out of her bloody mind.

Not caring what would happen, Minoru walked up to the girl, pulled the duct-tape off her head, and looked her straight in the eyes.

"I think it would be best if you calmed down. The Wyld always pays bad luck back with exceptionally good luck."

Kaede merely pulled out another piece of duck tape to replace the old one.

"It-it isn't nice, that's c-called stealing you know? If y-you wanted some duck t-t-tape, you should've told me Krillin. I w-would've happily g-given you some. You w-wouldn't happen to h-have a fish tank would y-you Krillin? We're g-g-going to make a time m-machine. And what's a w-wiiillld...? I-I'd rather he or she p-pay back luck with cash in-instead of credit."

... and it would seem that another person would join in the fray, this time what appeared to be some hoodlum. Mikage-san frowned suspiciously at this strange, strange, newcomer and reached out for Kaede, pulling the girl behind the woman, as an attempt to shield her. From his timing, and his appearance, it would seem he is not an acquaintance of the Hyuuga child or Kaede-chan. The girl admitted that she didn't have any friends. And he wasn't someone who lived in their apartments. The landlord wouldn't ever let someone dressed so suspiciously rent a place here. These apartments were already going through financial problems and this strange person would only make the appeal of this residency worse. So that would make the boy an intruder. But if he was here, then that meant the explosion has caught the attention of others, and any moment the rest of their floormates and the landlord will be coming up here soon. No, that won't be good for Kaede-chan at all, should such a thing happen.

"Who are you and what's you're business here? Shirayuki Yamato is off at work."

She would have added, "Normally people enter after knocking, you know." but it wasn't like there was a door to knock on anymore.

Minoru looked up at the older woman, and smiled. "It appears that the Wyld has been kind to you. My business here concerns the explosion that occurred, and what I can do to help you."

Minoru shook his head and sighed before looking up at the old woman again with pity. "Why must you judge me so? I know that look you are giving me. Outsider, you would say. Foreigner, you would say. Barbarian, you would say. I am not ashamed of where I come from. Am I so repulsive that you must hide that girl? It's not like the Wyld would permit harm to her after all that has happened. Such a person would be struck down before anything worse could happen."

The old woman was the typical bigoted citizen, judging first and listening later. "Perhaps you should allow her to go back to her classmates. Many people wondered where she disappeared to. And it would probably be best if she wasn't referring to people as characters in a manga, even more so when other people begin to snoop."

Maybe, Minoru would finally make a friend in the village. The girl looked to be innocent enough, although her grandmother was a bigoted demon from the ninth circle of hell. Always good with bad, such was the way of the Wyld.

User Image Elruda blinked, and shook her head. "Blood? That doesn't matter!" But then...an awful thing happened...oh no! Did she just...break the sanity of one of Konoha's future Genins? Zephyr-jiji would be furious with her! And Elruda, thus panicking even further, was wondering how to break it to Kaede no such "machine" exists, or any such Jutsu. But then, her thoughts trailed off and were broken by the abrupt entrance of yet another-...

"E-eh...?"

Tappa-tap.

Her sandals made feather-light footsteps against the ground, as she too drew close to Kaede and curiously observed the newcomer with white, pale eyes. And then, a smile crossed her lips: "The Wyld? But that's not very nice, striking down someone even [if the enemy] in the process. ...well, Konoha's protected by Senju Kannon!" She looked at him convinced, with such conviction in her voice, in her gestures, and in her eyes. "The goddess of life and mercy excludes no one."

She turned to Kaede and bowed deeply.

"Please. It's-..."

Anzu sighed, shaking his head gently aside, the long, black ponytail following the gesture. He looked to the old woman:

"Ma'am...I know what you think...and yes..." Here he glared at Elruda. "This...such sore disobedience to civil law will not go unpunished. However..." The princess...she thinks she can offer on her word! Ah, her family will never allow it! However...Senju still had that program, right...?

"Please do not worry about damages, it will be taken care of." And then he looked to Kaede with golden-amber eyes. "Your father will be notified, do not worry. Until repairs are completed, living arrangements will be made." Anzu resisted the urge to sigh again and press his brow...because this particular building was made of cut stone.

Oh the joy, importing from Iwa...

Minoru looked at the new girl with confusion. Who was she to say that this so called goddess of life and mercy was greater than the Wyld? No god or goddess was exempt from the wrath of Nemesis.

"I think you are mistaken. Even the great Senju Kannon can be struck down by the Wyld. You might know her as Nemesis in these parts. No mortal or god can resist her, for the Wyld brings justice and fairness to the world. Those that grow too tall will only have farther to fall when the Wyld gets through with them. Can you hear her? She watches us through the trees and plants, through the wind and waves, and through the very clothes on our backs. She watches us always."

Oops there Minoru went again with his Theology lesson...

"I'm terribly sorry for going off like that. I... am not too familiar with this Konoha's strange customs. They are foreign to me at best. I assure you that I meant no disrespect. However I will make sure to pray for you. Perhaps I will take the brunt of the judgment levied against everyone here..."

Minoru bowed to the girl, before righting himself again. "I am here to talk to my classmate, Kaede. However she seems to be suffering from a mental breakdown thanks to the apparent terrorist attack against her home. I simply wish to train with her a bit before the next Genin exams begin. I would hate for something like this to ruin her chances."

User Image The child shook her head, and laughed charmingly. No insult in her laughter, but only gentle refutement. Oh, it seems she was misunderstood...she never did attack the boy's religion.

"Huu? (But I didn't say that about the Wyld...) But "he" (noting ambiguous use) who condones senseless death is not superior. Senju for her thousand-arms, the thousand-hands of Kannon - the watchful one who sees and hears all. A millennium, the thousand number for infinity, with an eye on each palm, grasping a lotus with each hand: the goddess of mercy's limitless ability to save, slaying sin, destroying illness, true immortality..." Elruda placed her right hand across her chest, over her heart, as if pledging loyalties, and the fervent ardor she spoke such words...

"We the children of Konoha believes in Senju Kannon's way. She grants us our powers, her crown chakra - the violet born by our royal family - linking the individual with the universal, for harmony. She gives our eyes...no, she is our eyes, grants us the elements, even the land, seas, and skies! She does not watch, but give us Creation - and blesses us too to create - she sees all suffering, with her infinite eyes, and will not just only watch, but reaches her many hands to us as well! As long as Konoha holds Senju Kannon's blessing..."

Her smile was confident.

"No nation will harm our peoples, or devour our lands." But she too realized that she had gone off on a tangent, and worried that she might have offended by unknowingly, shook her head aside. "I don't mean Senju Kannon's more powerful, though!" She said quickly. "I don't know much of the tribal customs...but...I'll pray for you to our nation's goddess, too!" She looked to Kaede here. "It's all right! My mum's a doctor...she'll fix...ahhh...Kaede-san (note: here she had hesitated with the other's name, foreign to her lips), up! And my uncle's really strong, so he can help Kaede-san with, whatever Kaede-san needs help on. Huh, terrorist attack...oh." A nervous bead of sweat appeared on her cheek.

"Eh-heh-heh...eh, please don't worry...ummmn..." She looked to Anzu helplessly here. "...Anzu-nii...will help..." Her eyes alone seemed to say (I'm sorry! ;_; ) to which the irate Senju only huffed. "...yeah..." She paused. "Genin Exams? Oh, I'll be attending the next one too!" Remembering that she hadn't given her name, she turned to Kaede, then to Minoru in turn.

"I'm Hyuuga Elruda!" She already knew Kaede's name, and so, to Minoru... "What's your name?"

Shirayuki Kaede - Academy Student

Theme: Não Chora Menina

LV. 7 | Experience: 16/160 | Hp: 56/56 | Cp: 49/49 | MHp: 98/98

At the stranger's words, Mikage merely laughed. This child was so... naive.

"Child," he still did not offer his name. "Child, I can judge you however I please. I could care less if you even had the approval of the Hokage himself. Outsider or not. This is a shinobi village. This is a village that was once the center of civil war. This is a village that was once occupied by the fire master. All because we allowed ourselves to indulge in such careless thoughts. You don't get to live as long as I do without suspecting even the village's protectors. Konohagakure has suffered many disappointments, such as the abandonment of Lord Akane."

The old woman smiled wryly. Despite her utter contempt for the name of Senju, she would still dare to hope... that this one would be different. She did not know if the other villagers shared mutual feelings. Mikage could not blame them for that, but rather sympathize. It was easier to see this boy offended at her accusation than it was to see Kaede-chan on a hospital bed. It was easier to distrust than it was to be disappointed. Yes, the Juugodaime would have to work hard, very hard, before he could truly be "Hokage".

"That you have never needed such feelings... I am truly envious. However, as long as you are here I should warn you that I will not be the last to judge you. People have not forgotten the heat of the flames or the terror of death. You would do well to remember that, child."

"But if you are not here to harm the child, or tepee the house, or any other stupid pranks... if you are truly here to help us as you claim, then I welcome you. There are a few things you should know during your stay here. It's always a good thing to have two fire alarms installed in your home. After witnessing this explosion, I don't think I need to explain myself. However, I will say that this will probably not be the last of it. Not while that troublemaker is here. Oh, I'm sure your brother will LOVE to hear that when he gets back, Kaede-chan."

Her lips thinned. But from the dazed and blank expression of the little girl behind her, it would seem Kaede-chan had still not regained her wits.

"And it's always a good idea to consider a home with two exits should there be an intruding enemy shinobi. Never go outside after the sunsets. If you absolutely must, you should stay away from any alleys and the trees. Always scan the rooftops for any movement. Hmm... I suppose that's all I have to offer as an elder giving advice to a young one. You'd best remember it too Kaede-chan."

At the boy's next words, Mikage raised a skeptical eyebrow.

"And we aren't leaving this place until housing arrangements and debt are settled. I'm not sure what your people's customs are, but in this village something like the demolition of one's home is an important matter. Her school and her classmates can wait. They will understand."

The elderly woman turned the man who was apparently responsible for the Hyuuga. "And how soon do you suppose that will be? How well do you estimate this family will be treated..."

She could not say 'with respect'. It was either pity, or ridicule. Not to say that the villagers had any contempt. But some people just didn't know the line between playful joking and teasing, and... going too far.

"H-how close is it to father's w-w-work?

She glanced down to that familiar gloomy expression. It would seem that Kaede-chan had recovered once a tangible solution had been offered. However, Mikage found herself raising an eyebrow. Anzu as in Senju Anzu? The program? If it was the Senju Estate...

"If its what I'm thinking it is, that area is actually closer to your father's workplace than these apartments, Kaede-chan."

"Th-that's good to hear," the little girl peered out from Mikage-san and glanced curiously at the boy. Who was he and when did he get here?

"Th-thank you for the offer, Hyuuga-sama. B-b-but I'll pass. I d-don't
like... the hospital."

Her shoulder was still sore from all those horrible, horrible shots.

"No, you should go Kaede-chan. Those wounds aren't something that'll heal in a day. You wouldn't want an infection would you? Let's go right now."

"B-but..." Kaede's voice faltered at Mikage-san's angry glare. There was no way out of it... was there? And what is this about the next genin exams?

"Wh-what...? But aren't the g-g-genin exams next year?"

User Image Elruda looked at the old woman evenly. For a long moment, the child was silent. She was pretty in her own way, but at that moment, Anzu even could see a shade of the certain beauty of her mother that was not characteristic of Elruda as she looked at Mikage evenly, and then spoke.

"That's not very nice." She said, criticizing the old woman's treatment of Minoru. "Outsider or not, Konoha had always been a village of migrants. Even those who live here now had once, hundreds of years past, been so." And then, the cold proud expression of her Sennin mother faded, and her pretty features softened.

Her expression was even...a little sad...?

"I know Konoha had her disappointments." She said, softly. "I saw people die...couldn't help mum with the injured brought back home except with basic first aid treatment...our family saw enough fall to the Fire Master, or afterwards [the injured] too. But that's not just our family...all the others too...and to be Kage, it's hard...it's to not fear to die. No...that's not quite right." There was a soft pause.

"It's more tougher and complex, isn't it? As human beings, it's natural to fear death. I don't remember chichi-ue much, he died before I was old enough to remember him really well. But he taught me one thing, "believe in Konoha"... To believe...to have something to entrust in. My papa, Rasen, lived that."

Hyuuga Rasen? She meant the Juudaime!

She looked up to Mikage. "My uncle, my god-father Zephyr. He taught my mother...he will be named formally Juugodaime soon. He was an orphan taken in by papa." Her eyes flashed darkly. "I know, don't speak. I hear the villagers talk. They say Zephyr-jiji abandoned Konoha as a Sennin." Her small fists clenched. "He did so...but I know he has a reason! And to accept to come back, he would have overcomed it so..."

Or would he?

Her memory of Senju Zephyr had been blurry at best in the past, and with only the few times they spent together in Iwa. She had her mother's story, but...Yokou truly idealized her beloved Sensei, however much she too joked with, or pushed him around...

"I believe that he won't abandon Konoha." She said. "My papa knew he was going to die, but he would rather prefer that. Zephyr-jiji loved papa, as if he was his own papa...papa loved Konoha. And so...I will believe, that Zephyr-jiji loves Konoha too."

User Image Anzu drew the little princess close to him: even now, it still pained the child to talk of Rasen, however fondly the girl would speak when she does. But...it was a bittersweet thing. After all...the circumstance surrounding Rasen's assassination on that embassy trip many years ago was suspicious and still, without a shred of evidence.

"We'll go to the hospital." Said Anzu, to Mikage. "The head of the medical order has returned, and she will be able to heal the child." Anzu made a formal bow to the old woman. For once, he will not pledge on his...job, but rather...

"I, Anzu, as the second heir of the Senju line..." He had refrained from saying the complete clan vow, disliking the presence of a certain word (and thus so, he conveniently skipped any mentioning to the 'royal branch'), but it was clear enough that he was of the royal branch. "...do so solemnly swear that it should be seen to that this girl and her family shall be conducted with dignity and is not mistreated in any manner whatsoever." His lips set tightly. "Any clansmen whom makes any attacks, physical or psychological, on due claims to status shall be dutifully punished..."

Mikage might no something of Estate division, so to prevent the wrong idea from taking root in the old woman's head, he continued on: "She'll be welcome to stay with us in the main house." He then waited for the old woman and the girl's word. "I'll take care of the documentation when the girl goes through check-up in the hospital." He casted a glance at Elruda. "And...and you..."

A sigh.

"Elruda...stay out of trouble? For your aniki, please??? You don't want to really wreck the inauguration ceremony...right...?" Anzu stopped, before counting off things that had to go. "No bugs, weapons or anything sharp and can be considered so of any kind, stuff or powders that can do suspicious things put into food, firecrackers, bombs (where did you get that???), blackmail, pranks-..."

The list went on and on.

"I get it, I get it!" Cried the girl. "It was a mistake, I didn't know Marcus' present-ohno, I mean-...! I'll be good, ok? And I'm telling mum you boxed my ears! Meanie Anzu!"

Anzu's eyebrow twitched, as one particular word registered.

HOLD IT.

Did she say Marcus?

As in THAT Taida Marcus, the Juunidaime Tsuchikage? As in the SAME Taida Marcus who hung out with Zephyr-...the same Taida Marcus Yokou-sama writes about complaining the destructive duo the two made??? Oh no no no, he was going to have some words for his dear foster father when he sees that guy eye-to-eye again, about friends handing dangerous objects t-to children!

But he held composure, and picked up the girl, just so he had a tight grip on her and...despite her promise, to keep the child out of further trouble.

"Shall we go?" Said Anzu, as he made to head out of the apartment.

[Enter from Training grounds]

Tairu entered into the village of Konoha quite slowly in order to make sure he didn't swerve all over the place as he walked through the village. He would had to knock over a vender's stall as he was walking. That would just be too troublesome. As Tairu walked through the village he failed to notice to some debris from a nearby building and tripped on it. Ow, who the hell leaves this stuff lying around? Tairu wondered. Tairu slowly got back up and continued on his way to the hospital. Despite the fact that he was starting to feel a lot better, Tairu figured that this would be the best way to get healed quickly. Tairu could the Konoha Hospital sign rising out of the sea of buildings before him and he knew that he was almost there.

Minoru looked over at Elruda with what appeared to be gratitude. You could never tell with the strange boy. He could be angry while giving food to the poor or stab you while smiling. He really was quite a piece of work.

"I thank you for your kindness Elruda, but I assure you that a lady of your pedigree shouldn't soil her good reputation by associating with low-born trash like myself. I am Minoru Ito, once a wanderer of the world."

Elruda seemed wise far beyond her age. She understood things better than the only woman who had looked down on Minoru. Hell, she was everything Kaede wasn't. Kaede was an Omega, depressing, borderline psychotic, had multiple personalities, and probably a whole host of other issues that Minoru hadn't discovered yet.

But Elruda was different. Strong, yet gentle. Wise, but naive. She seemed to be able to hold her ground while at the same time she was completely unpredictable.

You don't bring someone who has a heart condition to a haunted house, and you didn't bring a mental patient on a hunting trip with you.

Minoru looked over at Elruda and bowed deeply, signifying his relinquishing of power. "If I may ask a humble favor of you. I wish to become an alchemist one day, to help travelers and other people who don't have access or money for hospitals. I know that the Senju and Hyuuga have genius alchemists who are said to be able to cure any disease. I understand that may be a stretch, but may I please meet with them? I would love to see the progress they have made."

Of course it wasn't a total lie. Minoru did want to help people. But what he really wanted to do was manufacture deadly poisons. He would be the infiltrator, one who could fit into many places, gain the trust of the locals, and then backstab them in cold blood without them ever knowing it was him. Of course, neither of the people here needed to know that.

User Image Elruda saw Anzu's eyebrow skeptically raise at a certain word 'lady', and she scowled briefly (insulted perhaps?) at that. But perhaps to Minoru's surprise, Elruda did a little half-bow, or what she could considering Anzu was currently holding her up, his strong vice-grip locking beneath her knees and securing the little girl in place against his chest. She pouted at this, knowing she was trapped in place, tried to struggle to move more blood circulation for her feet, and then tried to reach a hand to offer Minoru a handshake, only realizing her arm was too short with Anzu's height. So she took to poking the oblivious teenage Senju's shoulder.

Finally, realizing it was no good, and that Anzu did not plan to let go of her anytime soon, she huffed. But a frown did tug at the corner of her lips at his initial words. "What's wrong with wandering?" She said. "You get to see the world outside." Not a caged bird, but free... And then, she laughed, and with a tiny shrug of her shoulders, said: "Hahaha, good reputation~? Minoru-kun, that's very funny."

A friendly smile curved her lips.

"I'm not going to be Hyuuga's pretty dove in their cage." Her eyes held great pride, no...a great pride for freedom, burning with the ardent desire. "I'm going to be a hawk, and help Konoha my own way. Besides..." Her smile became a little sad. "The title of heir means nothing." She looked to Anzu here.

"Senju has many princes. Those who die early without leaving a mark...heirs and heiresses can be replaced, so just like the name of the aristocracy, that too is meaningless. It only matters so..." She said, calmly. "...is to really live, make something of oneself, and really bring about the changes for the better. Aren't we all people? So don't you ever, ever, demean yourself like that..." And Elruda looked here Kaede's way too.

At his request, she clapped her hands together, delighted. "Sure! Mum will definitely be happy to...oh, by the way, Anzu-nii here stinks at Alchemy...so I'll ask Zephyr-jiji (for you) instead!" And here, she looked at him curiously, mildly surprised, but not unpleasantly so. "Oh, that's really amazing...! I want to be a great medic to save people...so maybe we can study with mum together!" Perhaps kindly Senju Kannon has fated this meeting from the very beginning.

Did she actually say Zephyr? As in the Hokage? Just how connected was this girl?

"The Hyuuga and Senju are known throughout the world for their great deeds. Some of them may be terrible and evil, but they were great nonetheless. I have wondered the deserts and been all over the world, young as I am. I could have gone to any village, but I choose Konoha because it respects the Wyld the most. I hope to one day wander again, after I complete my training. Helping people is what ninja are supposed to do, so perhaps I’ll end up as a medic ninja as well? Only the fates know the answer to that..."

He trailed off, as if he was deep in though. A faint smile passed over his face as he remembered what life had been like before he came to Konoha. What the girl had said about being a bird in a cage, he could understand that. After all he too, was nothing more than a rat in a cage.

"Titles are meaningless. I have met a few leaders who think that their status makes them worthy of the Wyld. Not one of them still lives... I would be grateful to study under your superiors. I do not know who your mother is, but she must be an amazing woman to raise someone such as you. The Hokage as well, for a ninja such as Anzu-sama must have some of his father’s blood. Alas I am but a commoner. I hope I will not stain your respective families honor with my presence."

Minoru bowed again, and held it for a few seconds. "I do not know if I am to swear allegiance to either of you, but I was told that I need to swear allegiance to someone. I thought that it was Konoha and the Wyld, but if it is a person I would gratefully swear to either of you."

User Image Anzu smiled, and placed his free hand, his left, over the girl's head, and mussed up her hair. "I don't see you as a hawk, Elda-hime...no. Someday as a gyrfalcon, like your father was." And Anzu addressed Minoru, with the tiniest shake of his head.

"The little princess is wrong...about one matter. It's not to Senju Kannon loyalty is sworn to, not even to the Kage, or Konoha herself." Golden-brown eyes softened, as he continued on: "Rather...the loyalty that is sworn to...how to say it...? It is to each other. Hashirama, long ago in the past, treasured the village and her people...not because she would one day become a proud nation, but because her people is like his own...no her people is his own. Even the "clan" (reference to "Senju Clan of the Forest") who came from the forest was an alliance of peoples."

There was a soft pause. "I don't claim to speak for my family, nor Elda-hime, nor any other in this village...however-..." He continued on, smoothly. "However, I believe that. This village had only risen from the cornerstones, and strong pillars, of her people. Konoha, who is our nation..." He fondly gave the little princess a small kiss to her forehead. "...and so, all her people are family."

Golden eyes observed the nomad serenely.

"We the people of Konoha - no...for I." Because, the Will of Fire... "It's not death that is the feared thing...it's going on living knowing precious ones have died, or watching those who have lost precious ones..." He inclined his head as proper, and held the dignitary for a few long moments. "If you were to join our village, our family, you are most welcome...we are honored that the Wyld has led you to our forests, and may the thousand-hand goddess Kannon place her blessing upon this meeting."

One root, the Will of Fire, the Will of Leaf's People, had given forth many blossoms.

The traditional solemnity of the Senju and, Elruda, she-...

"Oh, but Hyuuga wasn't originally children of Senju Kannon! And so...with Heikou [balance] smiling, comes the transcendent peace...may good fortunes smile upon Minoru-kun!" But then her cheerful demeanor faded a bit, her tone growing serious, as she continued on, deviating from Hyuuga's traditional confirmation of an acquaintance or friendship: "But that's just for custom - (hyuu...Anzu-nii is so uncreative!) Divination isn't necessary, I don't think my kekkai either...but I do know we will meet again!"
