I'm thinking about temping for a bit. I am tired of my job. I feel crummy being there daily...I used to feel ok there...but something's changed.
I'm just worried that I won't be able to consistently take care of myself...or my brother... *sighs*
Since you two temp, do you have any suggestions?

Go to an agency. My agency (AppleOne) offers heatlh ins. and they were really good about placing me. I went in the morning to sign up with them, and by that afternoon I was already working here. 3nodding

I think they have an AppleOne here in town but I'm not sure. I'll look into it... anything will help right now.
Thanks for the input, Psychominako!

Yeah, I'm working with OfficeTeam now, and before I worked with Ultimate Staffing, and they both offered health insurance, too. ^^ I'd say to register with several agencies, since I hear that advice... I dunno, maybe I've been lucky...? With each of these agencies, I was assigned to long-term, decent-paying positions within days, so I haven't needed to register with more than one at once. But I will say this: if Microsoft Excel and Word aren't things you work with often and know how to twist and contort, pick up a review sheet and be as proficient as possible by the time you go in for your initial interview. ^^

very true. Microsoft office skills are important, along with typing (a lot of agencys test you), and just looking professional helps.
Signing with a lot of agencies is a good idea too. I was signed up with 3 agencies when we lived in San Diego, but when we moved up here the first agency I signed with placed me. whee

*nods* Power Point skills are probably a plus, too, but nothing I've ever suffered the lack of.
But yeah, typing speed and accuracy... and whatever else you can claim to have experience with -- ten-line phone systems, People Soft, Lotus Notes... again, I worked with People Soft for all of a couple weeks, and hardly at all; it's not hard, and it's not something lots of companies use heavily, but the more things you can say you're skilled at, the better.
And just to note, I guess -- assume nothing about an assignment. I'd worked closely with a traffic department before, so when my current overlords told my agency they needed someone for a traffic coordinator position, they called me up. And the position turned out to be office administration, which I'd somehow never done before. xd

^^ I went into my agency asking for a position in the mortgage business (my mom is a loan processor and I help her out a lot), but they put me in an escrow position which is the other side of the business from what I've done before. It kinda sucks learning everything from a new prospective, but when I'm out of here its one more thing to add to my list of experience. 3nodding
