Samuel blinked at the multiple voices from Raphael/Ashtine. That's odd...
Of course...
Hearing Takeshi's recap, he blinked even more.
Wasn't I awake for most of that?
Shut up.
Samuel gave Takeshi and Raphael a pained smile. "Land of the living indeed." Turning to reach under the bed for his coat and arms, he stuck his head over his shoulder and asked, "So... Raphael/Ashtine... What exactly are you? I assume you are an ally, since Takeshi the... kitty-face?... is here," Samuel had put his suitcase on the bed and was pulling out clothes. He glared at Agnese for a moment, then began laying out his other gear.
"but I assume Legion has many types of allies, and thus, that doesn't help either me or Gurul identify you. Names help though."
Turning back to Takeshi, Raphael/Ashtine, and Agnese, Samuel pursed his lips and frowned. "Honestly, while I may be physically capable of combat, I haven't bathed in two weeks, and I'd appreciate it if you gave me time to refresh myself before I have to go blow things up. It's just one of those things." There was a hint of good humor in Samuel's tone, but he was obviously serious. "Now, if I could be directed to the facilities designed for such a purpose? Agnese looks like she's had a good touch-up, so I'm absolutely positive there are some nearby."

((Just for reference, Takeshi is going on hearsay there. razz He got pretty messed up by the Angels, so his memory of the jump is still fuzzy.
What basically happened is Takeshi and Sam both ran out all their mana before Duke & Duchess Yang could get the angels off, so they were basically way-too-burned-out and had to recovery naturally.))
Takeshi frowned and rubbed his face self-consciously, namely at his slowly regrowing eyebrows.
"Ashtine, demon-minor, member of the Cabal whose soul transfer failed if Legion's identification served me right, bound to..." the voice shifted "Raphael, wanted in at least sixteen countries when last I checked."
"Bathrooms are down there," Takeshi indicated a the vague direction of the bathroom. Just look left as you walk down the hall outside here, you'll see the tiles. Anyway, we'll leave you to that for a little."
"Oh, he's up?" a bored-sounding female voice asked. Takeshi immediately braced himself against the wall as Gertrude jumped onto his back, her arms dangling over Takeshi's shoulders. "Hello."

Even in his shocked state, Joe regretted not being able to help. He gritted his teeth as he and Josh went down the hole, not allowing himself to groan or cry out as they went down.
"What's...the deal...with cobalt?" he asked, trying to keep himself talking.

"Cobalt tends to be able to counteract magic in a very local area - usually itself only. It's a key component in phase weapons and the like. Mana can't pass through it, so it's how we were kept from scouting this building before," Josh explained, setting Joe down.

((I figured that. I was going from what was written and what seemed implied and making something humorous out of it. razz It was not hard to get that skim-reading done. KKR was not nearly as active as the rest of you. Now if only I could get this parser working properly, I'd be able to make a compiled version of this craziness without much effort...)) Samuel smiled wryly at Takeshi's discomfort, then turned to gather the things he would wear after he finished refreshing himself. As he turned to go to the bathrooms, his face lit up in confusion. "Okay... Umm... I'll ask about the relation between the crazy chick and Takeshi when I get back, and if I can't coax any relevant info out of Gurul abou how a demon minor and a human could be merged or why, I'll ask for a little elaboration, like maybe what they are called, but right now I'm gonna go bathe. See you all in a bit." Samuel turned and wandered off to the bathrooms. Once there, he closed the door and filled the tub with hot water and soap. Stretching wearily, Samuel stripped down and sank thankfully into the water. The water felt good against his skin, and he relaxed as he let the hot water loosen up the dirt he was coated in. Samuel sighed and let his mind wander as his body relaxed. Bathing has always been a relaxing pastime...
Shut it. I don't wanna think about that right now, nor do you, so lets just relax for now, okay?

Seconds after "Relaxation," a shock went through the whole structure as the C4 above detonated.

Samuel started at the shock.
That was odd.
I guess. I'm not rushing it too much though.
Samuel rinsed the rest of the dirt off himself and scrubbed himself clean. He dried himself off and began dressing himself, pulling on a set of heavy duty jeans and a T-shirt, then donning his tan-brown trenchcoat. He put the phase sword on his hip and loaded a variety of gear he had thought he might need into the coat.
About ten minutes after the shock occurred, Samuel walked out of the bathroom and trotted toward the location where the others had been.
((Waah... I have to wait for the assault team to catch up...))
((At least I got to chain-nuke those silly normal AIs... Mmm, SupCom...))

Paul glanced about, ascertaining their surroundings, before relaxing to discuss cobalt. Darius did a similar thing, but he sealed the hole above them with marble - another barrier between them and the Shadowmen. He wondered if their balance was super-human too. Could they be made to trip on slippery enough ice?

Samuel was greeted by Takeshi, Agnese, and Raphael again, as well as a newcome. "Jessica and Thuriel," she introduced herself.

Josh and Sebastian had barricaded the assault team in a section of the corridor they'd entered. The Shadowmen had moved on while the assault team discussed their next move.
((You don't have to wait for them! biggrin
What's this about Chain-nuking AIs?))

Samuel sauntered over to the group, a bored look on his face.
Turning to Raphael and Jessica, Samuel made his inquiry.
"So, Gurul didn't seem forthcoming on a name, but implied that he'd heard of it before. Regardless, a generalized name for you guys would be nice, especially if there are gonna be any significant numbers of you. So, what'll it be? Also, Takeshi, what is your relation with that crazy chick that was hanging on you earlier?"
((I was saying that I'd have to wait since they'd just planted the C4... and I did a little bit of a time skip. razz ...))
((Oh, I was playing SupCom and felt ridiculous, so I was playing with the resources mods on (which comp AIs have problems exploiting), and I built up about 42 strategic missile launchers and started nuking my opponents with waves of nukes. It was very entertaining.))

"You can call us The Unified. Merged human and demon souls," Raphael explained. "Thus the voice."
"He's my Bloodhound," Gertrude declared cheerfully from just behind Sam. How she'd gotten there was not entirely clear. Takeshi briefly summarized the Bloodhound/Vampire relationship.
