"Oh gay!" Paul grunted at the reappearance of the second Shadowman. "I thought we had a deal with them!
Why are we fighting?!" he added. "Can't we diplomacize ourselves out of this situation? Worked for the Hunters and the Cabal against Abaddon." In the meantime he helped Joe bandage the wound.
Darius had decided that one stupid pillar did not constitute the whole freaking ceiling, which was all sorts of remarkable true. On the other hand, the second Shadowman was a fresh pain to deal with.
Darius encased himself in a very large marble sphere and started attempting to play Katamari Damacy with the Shadowmen. It was a bad plan but it might keep them off balance a little longer.

The Shadowman from before popped out of cover again. He fire another of his charged bolts into Sebastian's dome. The third Shadowman emerged. They each threw several discs, which mounted themselves on various sections of the floor and walls. They then pulled out a set of small canisters.

"I suggest we retreat and let them fight it out!" Paul suggested. Darius hesitated a moment but set up domes around the discs as quickly as possible.

Several discs had been placed on metal and had no immediate solution available. The canisters rolled out onto the floor.
Sebastian raised a wall. "Whatever they do can't be good for us," he declared.

The canisters began spraying a pressurized orange liquid all over the room, spinning in place as they did so from the one-sided release.

Darius sealed them in with a vent to the outside to prevent this stuff from doing anything to them.

The wall had been able to keep the REF liquid, which vaguely resembled overly-sticky orange juice, from getting on any of the Hunters. However, they were very much pinned and disabled if they left their area, and being near the wall or the edge of the cleared spot also blocked casting.
Sebastian began to tunnel downwards. "Hold them off while I take us down a floor."

"Got it," Darius told them.
Paul took his own shirt and bandaged his wound, trimming down the marble but not removing it since that was bad practice.

Josh reached over and scooped the 'bullet' out with a light-gloved hand. He placed his hand upon the wound and it sealed.
Robert commented.

"No, it really doesn't," Paul muttered out loud. "Let's just get this done with. A floor down should be safe, and maybe we can seal the Shadowmen upstairs if we go far enough down fast enough."

Sebastian swore. "I hit metal. I should've known that was too easy."
"I'll cover that," Josh informed him, his full light armor appearing around him. Wings of light extended straight towards the ceiling, avoiding the REFs. Hunched over, he approached Sebastian's tunnel and jumped down, leading with his fist. There was a loud crash, a great deal of rumbling, then a halt. "Cobalt layer!" he yelled with a curse. "I need an explosive charge or something!"

Paul checked his vest and produced a C4 package. "This stuff never hurts," he told Josh, tossing down the charge and getting out the detonator.

Josh caught the package and planted it, then climbed (yes, climbed) out of the hole. "Fire away."
