Joe tried to wrench his way away, or at least out of reach. Getting away didn't seem like it would be impossible, because it was just the one hand he was trying to break free of.

Jacob heard the vampire's shuffling and slid past the door and pressed himself flat to the wall.
He had his knife out. He waited to see what would happen. If the vampire started to notice him, Jacob would stab him in the temple or heart, whichever was more accesible.

The vampire paused and slammed the door. It crashed at the wall and bounced off of Jacob. The vampire immediately began to strafe Jacob. It was almost as if he'd known Jacob was coming.

Joe almost got his hand free, but before he could add his other hand, he had to block the knife, which he barely managed. He would need a little more power to break free of the grip.

Joe drew his knife with a swift motion and slashed at the man's wrist.

The Shadowman blocked the knife with his own, their blades sliding against each other until they were hilt-to-hilt. The grip on Joe's wrist slipped.

That was the point that Joe had been waiting for. He jerked as hard as he could, twisting, then jumped away.

The frustrated Shadowman threw his knife at Joe; the kinetic gun locked its pieces together around the hand as soon as the knife was moving. He fired at Joe promptly.

Now outside of the REF, Joe immediately flared up and spun the knife away with a rush of Wind. He dove out of the way of the kinetic bullet, but he was a tad slow and was unsure if it would still hit him or not.

The REF around the knife disabled Joe's wind; it hit him in the side. He felt most of his magic stop and was momentarily stunned; the kinetic bullet punched a hole in his other side.

((The vamp was obviously guarding my body, of course... I think that's what we are referencing now. Anyways...)) Samuel's eyes opened. The world around him was blurry and watery, and he seemed to have trouble perceiving things properly. After a few moments, a thought rolled through his mind. I've been asleep for quite a while...
Gurul's response was more cursory than usual.
It's not like I haven't been talking with you for two weeks straight... Lets get going, this healing chamber is bugging me.
Samuel blinked a few times, his vision clearing slightly. He saw figures standing around him, but he couldn't see who they were quite clearly enough. In fact, he thought, I really can't see anything clearly yet. He moved his arm a bit to indicate that he was awake, weakly as he could in such a groggy state.

"Hey, Raphael, he's awake!" a guard called out over his shoulder. Samuel saw a man walk in flanked by Takeshi and Agnese.
"Samuel, I presume?" his doublevoice asked.
"Yes," Takeshi confirmed before the unfamiliar man could answer.
"Good. Are you in fighting shape? This facility is under attack," the unfamiliar man - presumably the "Raphael" the guard had referred to - asked.

Joe stopped, stumbled. He looked down in disbelief at the knife and the hole.
Hopefully someone was freaking covering him as he reached down and jerked the knife out. Hoping he could beat the REF before it spread, Joe tried to heal the hole on the other side of his body.

Samuel's vision began to clear and he got a better impression of the world around him. He scanned the room quickly, then turned his head to the person who had asked to question.
"I should hope so. Gurul says I've been asleep for more than a week. We shall see, though. I have yet to get my bearings on the situation, or even the world in general."
Samuel stretched his arms out cautiously and pulled himself into an upright position. Wobbling on his feet a little, he steadied himself on the healing chamber he had just gotten out of. A little more sure of himself, Samuel went through a short series of stretches to free his muscles from their sleep. Coming back to a standing position, he faced Takeshi, Agnese, and the stranger.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure my body works again anyways. So, regardless of my answering of your questions, who are you? And once we're done with the introductions, I'll probably need my stuff, so I'll need to know where to pick that up, especially since the first question you asked me had to do with combat capability."
((Venom, I did a quick skim of my movements over the past 260 pages, and at one point, you mentioned offensive sage spells. PM me in elaboration, please.))

Jacob suppressed a cough when the door hit him.
He twisted out from the wall and into the room.
He put away his knife and pulled out his saw-off.
Jacob began to circle around the strafing vampire, trying to get close to it and off to the side.
Once he was satisfied that he was close enough, or if the vampire made a move, Jacob fired the second shell from his saw-off.

Paul moved in from behind the Shadowman, trying to tackle him and prevent him from doing any more damage to Joe. Muscle suit though the Shadowman might be wearing, Paul was pretty big - 200 + pounds. He wasn't moving too fast, since he knew the Shadowman would go for some sort of dodge, but he intended to help Joe pin him down.
He stayed away from a straight line between Joe and the Shadowman, though, so that Joe could keep pumping magic at him.
