Rylenn blinked. "You guys heard him too?" He looked a the lake once more. "Let's.. let's get away from the lake.. I really don't.. please.." He was looking and feeling quite sick, being a mix of revulsion and anxiety. "Please.." He looked at the adults then to Weiyuan. He had a thing against corpses of any kind. Bones.. tended to scare him. "It sounded like he was worried. I think...."

Herei gave Lina's hand a litte squeeze, kindness on his face. "I think we're all a little put out by the situation." He looked up towards where RuiZhi was pointing excitedly, feeling both relief and disappointment. They'd made it to the designated spot, but they were, in fact, the first ones there. He hoped the others didn't run into any problems that they couldn't handle. The man folded his arms across his chest, surveying the area as he started over towards the indicated place; there had been little to no signs of life anywhere, neither human nor animal.
The Advisor looked toward the forest, his pleasant expression never wavering. Hopefully the doctor had made some progress.
After making sure Lina was okay with Herei, RuiZhi darted off down the path, excited. They made it! There had been nothing worthy of note on their trail, so far as he could tell, which was both good and bad. Good that there were no more mysteries, and bad that the lack of mysteries was only building a greater one. He padded to a slow trot as he neared their soon-to-be camp site, looking around to take note of their surroundings.
He heard no voices, and saw no footprints that indicated anyone had been around. They really were the first to arrive. Now, they just had to wait.

However, Farlest didn't seem to have any intention of slowing down...feet moving as fast as they possibly could...and he could hear his own heart pounding in his chest. Losing someone...it was that thing that must not happen...it frightened him and at the same time spurred him into immediate and desperate action...the end of which even he wasn't confident in.
This place was frightening. Terrifying and strange and new and perhaps...perhaps that was why he was running so fast...perhaps that was why he was almost deaf to Ka's calls for him to slow...
The trees seemed to pass as one steady blur, and Far had to put up his arms several times to duck under branches and brambles...using coat-sleeves to find off twigs and thorns that might otherwise have cut him...and supposedly that was dangerous out here, right?
Shadows and light seemed to blend...and he hardly knew where he was going anymore...just back...back the way he had come...towards Alex.

Alex was moving fast, but not fast or far enough that the blood-freezing scream couldn't be heard. She whipped around, feeling her muscles constrict, her mind begging to go back. She'd know that voice anywhere, and to hear him in such distress, because of her...and then there was a second, less recognizable cry that followed. What was going on?! Were they in trouble? No, they wouldn't be yelling for her if they were. They probably just realized she was gone. Should she go back...?
It was her heart that rationalized with her. Her love of these people and her need to keep them all safe. Her eyes shifted back to the shadow, the one that seemed to pulse and breathe amongst the darkness. It was still waiting. She could go back to her group - and possibly bring this uninvited stranger with her - or continue on her own, and hope she was useful enough that Kenth wouldn't kill her on sight of her return.
Alex was a very base woman when it came down to it, following her logic more than her emotions, even though the latter certainly got the better of her on more than one occasion. She couldn't let this thing go, and she certainly wouldn't bring it back to a doctor, two kids and...whatever Audun was, which she doubted was helpful enough if the thing turned out to be violent.
"I'm sorry, Doctor...boys." Tapping her right toe on the ground awkwardly, she started after the shadow again, who continued deeper into the forest.

Ka cursed under his breath when Farlest didn't even seem to hear him, and just gave up on yelling as it obviously wasn't going to do any good. He had no idea if the adults had even seen them run off, much less which direction they went ... so they were pretty much on their own.
And hell if he was going to lose the one person he'd come here to look after. Jaw clenching, Ka ducked his head and ran faster - hoping that eventually Far would wear himself out or something and slow down a little so he could catch him.
Ka might not be quite as fast, but he should be able to keep running longer .... he hoped.

Apparently despite the amount of speed that he did posess...eventually Far just couldn't run anymore...slowing and eventually stopping...not even realizing that Ka was still behind him.
The slender boy put his hands on his knees, panting and taking in gulping breaths of air in an attempt to regain a more regular breathing pattern. Oh hell this might just have been a bad idea.
Emerald eyes peered around as he had this belated epiphany. He hadn't the foggiest idea where he was going, and this forest could very well turn out to be dangerous if not deadly...oh...and it was dark...as in really really dark...and what was it Kenth had said about not being caught out here? Wanting to move on?
He gulped, wrapping arms around himself and shivering though he wasn't at all cold. "Alex? Ka?"
Well that sounded pathetic...he thought to himself...joy and rapture he appeared to be lost. Glancing back the way he'd come...all he saw was more trees and a whole lot of dark.

Dante nodded. "A wise idea. Come. And this time, let's stay close to one another. Something dangerous is abound here. No, Professor Larine, you may not hold my hand," the man finished in a tone that clearly conveyed disappointment and displeasure. "Now come on."

(Sorry graduation ^_^ Yay! I‘m officially outta high school! )
Irame never got actually answered Hereis question, and she had to say that she wasn’t particularly worried or sad about it. She always felt a little self conisouse when she started talking to… well more human type people about such topics. She had been received coldly more than once and she always felt a little strange and worried about talking again.
She smiled, however, when they drew near to the meeting point. That was good at least, although a little surprising that they were the first people there. Then again someone had to be.
“I suppose that all we have to do is wait now.” She said to no one particular.
-=+=-
Greg had looked at the thing as well, and had been able to keep himself from saying ‘Yeah it looks like one. Well.. Maybe more of half a one? From here it’s hard to tell. Youngest person here wanna go and get it?’ He had wanted to, but he had stopped himself. ….It had been rather hard….. He thought that it would have been sorta funny in a sorta sick and twisted way. At least until he thought that he heard Kenth. At that jokes that he had had thought about making had pretty much just stopped. He turned his head to where he had thought that it had come from (apparently Dante had thought that it had come from the same area too) and simply said “Kenth?”
He looked at the rest of the people with him and nodded. “We should get going. If anyone wants to come back and see the body later I can bring them here.” He glanced back at the corpse and wondered if it would still be at the same place or if he should pull it up a bit. When Dante mentioned holding his hands Greg smiled thinly.
“I wasn’t going to ask, Dante, but that’s okay. We just need to get going, if we held hands goodness knows that I’d practically have to carry you around after a few minutes.”

Wei had heard it. Without a doubt he recognized that voice as Kenth's. He was positive about the name that he called. What...just what exactly happened? He immediately got worried for the person he secretly called his older sister.
He turned away from the forest hearing Rylenn. He pulled the red-head close, kissing him. "It'll be alright, we ought to go." He had said that for himself. Alex could take care of herself. She's tougher than any other woman he'd met before. No need to worry. The half-Chinese held onto Rylenn's hand tightly as the group moved on. He sure needed his hand to be held.

Rylenn kissed Weiyuan back but he couldn't help but think of that body. It left an odd taste in his mouth. He gripped his lover's hand and looked at Sable. He bit his lip, looking worried. He wanted some reassurance from the elder whom he had grown to admire and frankly.. adore.
"Sable.. cmon.."

At the 'move on', Audun merely shrugged his shoulders and started to walk again. He wasn't the kind to really question given orders, nor did he feel that he actually had enough balls to do so - this man he was with was probably older than him and would easily leave him there to die without a second thought.
Dying in the jungle, he thought, would suck. Seriously.
He left his two blades out at his side, prepared to do anything that should happen to come his way.

By that point, Ka had fallen behind a bit, though he could still hear Far up ahead - or what he hoped was Far. Gods help him if he'd ended up following phantom noises through this damned forest and gotten lost himself.
And when the noises up ahead abruptly stopped, Ka stopped too, frozen, attempting to control his own breathing so he could listen. He'd also noticed how very dark it was here, and creepy ... didn't want to be alone out here any more than Far probably did.
Still, he jumped when he heard the other call out, and then he was running toward the sound, crashing through the trees in a matter of moments. He managed to skid to a half just in front of the other, panting, eyes a bit wide. "Why did you do that?" he burst out, half-yelling just because of fear and stress, reaching out to grab the other's arms. Now they were lost out here ... and what if Ka had lost him? Then the both of them would be alone ...

As hopeful as he had sounded, Farlest wasn't really expecting an answer. He'd put himself well away from the group, and if Kenth hadn't gone after Alex then in his opinion he was far less likely to go after a fifteen-year-old boy...something of a liability, after all, and not a valued part of the team. Yes, that was a bleak thought, but unconscious or no, Far really didn't see himself as an essential part of anything...not this mission, not anyone's life.
He was feeling more than a little miserable and definitely foolish.
Freezing much like a pursued rabbit when he heard Ka quite literally smashing his way through to him. He didn't know if that sound was friend or foe and green eyes were juuuuust a little wide. When the other actually appeared his reaction wasn't much better as fingers closed about his wrists and he yelped, jerking back on instinct.
...ohwait.
"KA!" That emerald gaze was shimmering, the beginning of a bout of tears there...and it was very clear that the smaller boy was upset and frightened now.
And on top of that...Ka'hmesh was angry with him.
"I'm s-sorry..." He started, trying very very hard not to cry, though it seemed to be an almost impossible feat...akin to trying to dam a river in the rainy season. "But Alex is gone...and...and...we can't just leave her alone! Not out here...it's dangerous and...well you wouldn't want to be left out here would you?" the last statement was whisper-soft, and full of emotions that perhaps he didn't even understand. What he wanted was a hug and a snuggle and a little reassurance.
But Ka was mad at him.
And Far burst into tears.

Kenth said nothing else after his command. He couldn't say anything else...because if he did, he was afraid that he wouldn't be able to control his emotions.
Wait, he has emotions? Kenth mentally stunned himself by asking this question. Damn those pathetic feelings! When did they get a hold of him? What had gotten into him ever since he started away from the temple? Perhaps the natives were indeed influenced by it somehow, similar to what Kenth just felt.
Or it would just be his way of showing that he's afraid.
No...never.
Suddenly drawn back to reality, Kenth realized that he could see much better at the surrounding now. More than that, he could see the night sky, and a few bright stars shining above him. And even more than that...he could hear voices, familiar ones.
It seemed that someone was here before him. Kenth shivered, and looked up.
What would people think of him now that he lost three people in his group?
"...looks like we are out of the forest."

At that, Ka flinched just slightly and loosened his grip on the other's arms. Well ... s**t. He hadn't meant to cause something like that.
Biting his lip just a little, he forced himself to relax, and when he pulled Farlest in closer to him, it was an almost surprisingly gentle move, sensing almost instinctively that not much was going to help now that the tears had started. But with as much as Far liked contact, a hug would likely do something. He hoped.
"Far ... shh ... i'm sorry too, I shouldn't have yelled," he murmured. "You just ... scared me. Running off like that." Yes, it was dangerous out here ... and no, he wouldn't want to be left alone. But by the same token, neither should Far be alone.
