Thanatos looks around at his bloodied and battered men, knowing that some are barely able to stand from the exhaustion of the fight. With a sigh, he calls them around. "Men" he says "I know you are exhausted, and I know that you deserve to have some time to rest. You've fought bravely, and hard, but the enemy is numerous, and they will continue to come. So We must make this area a bastion, we must allow no elf to pass through this area, we must fortify this place, so that these infidels cannot come through and take what is rightfully ours. We must push through the exhaustion to drive these villianous invaders from our lands, for the honour and glory of our great country!" With that Thanatos begins to direct his men to build trenches, leaving a slight opening that will funnel the elves in allowing the men to attack them on three sides. Furthermore he sends a man up to the observation platform to inform myself as to how many elves are coming, and when they will arrive. Thanatos also looks for a flag or two that he can use to signal the archers as to when they should open fire. Or atleast a trumpeter or something.

"Lloish, hold your position and be prepared with that warp-lightning charge for they might try and do something unbecoming of their race's intelligence." As he says this he moves toward them slowly and confidently, shadows seeming to dance around his form as he moves forward partially obscuring his figure in darkness as he lowers his mask.
(in elvish)"You haven't any idea what you are dealing with." he says through teeth yellow and twisted, but all sharp and sinister. "How do you think you will fare without your leader?" he mutters something and one of the elves in the bushes needs a will save (DC19) or be sent running in fear for 1d4 rounds or shaken for 1 if he succeeds (Cause Fear -immune if he has more than 5 HD). "You've never seen anything like me before, and unless you heed me today, you will not see them again until they swarm in the streets of your homeland eating the corpses of the dead and dying. I have gazed upon things, that would make your unconcious leader happy to be where he is right now, and happier still to be among his buried ancestors."
As he finishes he raises his mask, again over his face and his hair begins again to stand on end as shadows continue to move across his form.
"I ask you to make haste in your decision, your lives may rely on it. You may surrender to our forces, retreat and possibly die, or stay and make it a certainty. If not to us then to the men that await behind us."

Hearing Thanatos' impassioned speech, Ne Pah momentarily un-naps. Humans are always at their most interesting when they're agitated about something, and Ne Pah is a notoriously curious serpent. She wriggles her way through the crowd, eventually coming up behind him.

I don't see what's so important... She raises herself up, shifting all her weight onto her rear coils while the rest of her body stands straight as a post. Everyone else seems to think it's urgent, though. She lets a sigh of serpentine boredom hiss out through her nose, then begins to weave back and forth behind Thanatos, doing her best to imitate his movements as he talks.

Lloish backpedals. "Uh, that's quite some weather we're having, isn't it? Lightning in the middle of the day? Crazy. So, what're you guys doing out in the middle of the woods? I was just out walking with my rat-buddy Susqueek who should be getting over here soon. Real soon. Boy, I can't wait for him to get over here right now and help me with the angry elves, Susqueek. Incidentally, did you know that you three are standing in a patch of poison ivy?"

Lloish waits a beat, giving them time to look down, then dodges halfway behind a nearby treetrunk and spits a dart at one of the sword-elfs.

(wilderness lore +7 for the poison ivy ploy, attack +10 with point blank shot to hit the nearest elf.)

(Edit: you should use actual dice to roll for poison effects and just post the result. it'll take a lot less space that way. DCs are 16 for 2d12 hp, 20 for 1d6 con, 13 for unconsciousness)

+8 fort= 15 total, rolling damage next

You have trumpets, and they are trained for the signals (all about 5: fire, charge, reserved for special action, retreat, and retreat faster). Most men are mostly moved, but have a hard time beginning the trench building. They end up putting up earthworks with the extra soil, a cheap, lazy, but still mostly effective way to get your goal done. No elves are seen so far as this is going on...

("Kaer iar sai pai thyr!" = stand up and die fool! *whited*)
One swordsman and one bowman take flight. Unfortunately the hit elf bellows out "TEAL, EIR IAR AIL COLOL SAERI THYR!" (and for elvish speaking rats Men, aid us in killing these fools!) You can hear a response already starting from the group behind you, and maybe even further along. The archer takes cover, one swordsman takes a defensive action, the other takes partial cover while shoving the 'lord's' body into a thicket without the others seeing much of it.
(Damage wise, that's terrible, 2)

"That's right come hither and face us charlatains, ask your leader to reveal our wherabouts, if you know where his are."
Sursqueek moves to just outside of 5 feet of the closest elf of the three swordsman and once again, fur crackling with green sparks like a static orb, leaps into the air and lets fly another spray of lightning from his rusted blade.

((
once again 2d6=7 damage (DC 18 reflex for half)
and once again child of shadow gives him partial concealment
))

(I assume the elf I hit also took his CON damage? That should lower his temp fortitude score and make him easier to poison again.)

From behind the tree, Lloish spits out another volley of darts. He targets the elf that he hit but didn't disable, and the swordsman concealing his leader's body.

(+9/+9 with point blank shot)

(edit: well, that was unlikely)

(Hold the phone, are you telling me that my scouts, and my guy on top of a hill cant see any more elves are coming? As in they are all defeated minus the rear guard and such, and are no longer advancing to our position.) Thanatos runs up to the look out perch to see if there are anymore elven batallions surging forward. He then looks to the enemy army to see what they are doing. (as in are they dissorganized...all converging on one spot that may have a lizardman and ratman) (spot +11)

Finally catching up with the sounds of fighting, exclaim "Sursqueek!! If you can hear me respond!! The cavalry is right behind me!!" exclaim

You see the last of the footmen surging backwards in chaos, but the trees are brimming with unnatural forms.

Checking around to see what is running which way, Sursqueek recalls one of many sayings that seems appropriate for the moment "The greatest falsehoods are the falsehoods in which reality is to some extent present."

A few elves are fleeing you, but most elves are stationary. Something is moving on the ground near you.
