Aanika_Phaeton Man, I wish I had time to read for myself. I still haven't had time to finish "Dark Force Rising". All these books sound really good. But lately, I've had to read/analyze/disect books for my stupid "AP Language Arts" class (said with as little excitement and as much disgust as possible). They're either about Holocaust/Jew stuff, or Black vs. White people/racial crap . I'm really tired of it. (I apologize for offending anyone). But in all seriousness, I'm making a list of must read books. biggrin No offense taken. Even I'm tired of reading about the Holocaust/Jew stuff.

I think a lot of people are.
I mean, in my opinion, you want to get rid of racism, why bring it up at all. or with the holocaust, its just a bunch of people who keep complaining about the past for no gain.

Yeah, bad as it was, the holocaust is over. People shouldn't forget it happened, but continually bringing it up does nothing more than essentially opening up old wounds for survivors and giving people an excuse to hate.

I agree with you guys.
I swear if I have to read one more book about persecution...

Let's persecute the authors of persecution books! No wait, then future generations will have to read about our persecution... what to do?

The one book about persecution I actually liked was "Power of One."

Haven't read that one. The one that I read that really stands out was "Night." And that's just because it was overhyped, 'cause Oprah's book club was reading it.

Power of One is about this little kid of British origin who lives in S. Africa. He get's beat up and tortured by all these neonazi kids at his boarding school, Then he becomes a boxer and all sorts of stuff. It's good.

Hey! I have to read that one! How long is it, FP?
I had to read "Night" last summer. It was the night before school started, and I read it in 6 hours. Oh yeah. 3 a.m.
But right now, I'm reading "The Chosen". Anyone read that one?

Oh, I read that one. It's more cultural than about persecution, though. What do you think so far?

Yeah, it's not the best thing I've read all summer, but it's okay. It seems like it's never going to really get anywhere. The author spends like, 2 pages describing that one lamp on the bed-side table. rolleyes
Get to the point, I say.

Yeah, I remember it being like that... My school doesn't assign summer reading. For that I consider myself lucky.

Well, if I wasn't in the dang "AP" class, I wouldn't have to read. My brother is in the grade higher than me, and last year I had to read and disect "Anthem" and "Night". He read them during the school year and kept asking me for my notes. But, I kind of wish I wasn't this smart. Sometimes it sucks to be smart.

Meh, I enjoy all of the AP and honors classes. The one thing I'm not looking foreward to is Link Crew. Somehow I got bamboozled into signing up for that, and now on the 30th and 31st I have to go in for five hour training sessions so I can help run the crappy freshman orientation... what a waste.

Hahaha. I never went to my Link crew crap when I was a freshman. Totally wasn't interested in getting to know random people. I have better things to do with my time....
So...I laugh at you.
In the kindest way possible, that is. blaugh
