EDIT: The following takes place in a different time frame

The almost desolated hospital burst to life as several medical ninjas carried a boy on a stretcher towards the hospital. "Hey, prepare an ER! This kid's in critical condition!" As the nurses inside the hospital heard this, they sprang from their hiding places and the hospital came back to life, buzzing with activity. Two in particular came to the front doors and held them up for the medic ninjas carrying the boy. As they ran through the halls to the ER unit, another two nurses came up running by his side.

"Doctor, how is he?" asked the first nurse, her long brown hair flowing behind her. She appeared to be a younger nurse, maybe in her early twenties. Judging by her physical characteristics, she appeared to be one of the Areno clan.

"Not good," the doctor responded. This one appeared to be of no particular clan, or at least not one of importance. "He has multiple contusions along his body, several small, third degree burns along his arms and torso, and his chakra system has been unusually damaged. It seems as if a good number of his chakra points opened up, releasing all of his chakra in a short time. The opening of this kid's chakra points isn't the problem, it appears as if he is going to be a ninja so this is expected. But the rate at which this kid must've released all his chakra is staggering."

All while the group carrying the boy headed to an open ER, the second nurse wrote down all the boy's medic problems on a clipboard. This nurse seemed to be older, maybe a mother. She appeared to be around forty, taller than the other nurse, and red-headed. Like the doctor, she also seemed to be of no particular interesting clan, along with most of the others carrying the stretcher.

Moments later, the group parted as the nurses waited outside the ER while the group carrying the boy rushed in and gently laid the stretcher down on table in the center of the room. This room was larger than the one that Takeshi had been in earlier, probably fifteen or twenty feet wide. Several medic ninjas were waiting by the table for the boy. Once the group that original carried the boy left, the doors swung closed and the surgery light above the door turned on.

Immediately, a new nurse came up from behind the doctors and cut the boy's shirt open, where half of the medic ninjas started applying special healing tags to the boy's body. Meanwhile, the head medic looked around to the group and asked "Ready?" The group responded unanimously with a "Yes" and they all held out their hands. These medic's hands began to glow green with chakra and started healing the body automatically.

A suspenseful hour later and the surgery light above the ER doors dimmed out, and the doors swung wide. The group of medics who had worked on the boy again carried him on a stretcher, though not with the same haste that the previous group had. They walked somewhat quicker than a walking pace out of the ER unit and towards the patient rooms. As they walked down the hall, only a few doors were closed, signifying that they were occupied. Most of the other rooms were empty, but since the hospital had been running slowly lately, none of the nurses had bothered to clean the rooms from their previous patient's mess. Only a few moments after searching, the group came to a clean room and walked inside with the boy on the stretcher. The picked him up gently and set him on the bed, and covered him with the bed sheets. One of the nurses from the hall walked over to a medic standing outside the door watching the group and asked, "Is he going to be okay?"

"I don't know. We did the best we could and fixed him up great. But as soon as we ended the procedure, his condition started fluctuating. It hasn't changed much, but its definitely not improving. All we can do is wait until he wakes up and see what happens."

Takeshi would not wake for some time after that, not until the sun was once again peeking over the horizon to alert the people of Konoha. He would find that he was mostly covered in bandages with several healing tags still on his body. Takeshi would find that his left arm was in a brace, and was placed in a sling alongside his body. But he would not find these things until morning. Takeshi was unconscious.

((Timeframe between completing the Kawarimi no Jutsu and studying at the Library. Genin Exams are still going on at this point. Occurs before Takeshi visits his mother.))

As Kaede waits for the nurse to assess her physical health, the girl finds herself wary and fidgety when the nurse frowns. There is a tray of needles. The nurse is frowning and there is a tray full of needles. Oh this can't be good. Not good. Not good. Not goooooood. Did she tend to her wounds too late and now she has some sort of lethal infection? Did she contract some sort of organ melting disease? Di-

"You said your name is Shirayuki, right?

"Y-yes."

"While you were gone, I've been looking at your hospital records. The last time you have ever seen a doctor was the day you were born."

"...?"

What did that have to do with anything? That the girl had never needed to go visit the doctor meant that she had good health right?

"Uhm, y-yes."

"Which means you have never taken shots. Ever."

"O-oh... well, you s-see I-"

"We need to rectify this quickly. A physical exams. Immunization. Everything."

"-I d-don't have any h-health insurance."

"Compared to how much at risk your health will be in the future if we neglect this glaring issue, something like money will be the last of your concerns, Shirayuki. Besides, if you are here taking first aid lessons for the shinobi academy, you will not need to pay any hospital bills. Your service to your country and the village is payment enough. Now please hold out your arm."

"B-but the needle..."

Running out of excuses, because she really, really, really didn't want to have such a sharp and long... pokey thing in her skin, the girl began to whimper and tear up. It's going to hurt a lot and she doesn't like to hurt. This is going to give her nightmares afterwards, like that one scary movie she watched with her father. The girl really hates watching scary movies but her father kept insisting on seeing it. It was about some zombie virus outbreak, a white room with a bunch of doctors, and a lot of pokey things. That gave her nightmares for an entire week. These shots - plural... WHY does she need so many shots!? - will probably give her nightmares for at least three days. And unlike the Taijutsu lesson with Miharo-sensei, there really wasn't any way out of this. Was there?

"Uwaaaaa..."

"This won't hurt much. It'll feel like an ant bite. You'll only feel a little bit of pain. Before you know it, it will be gone."

"Y-you Sniffle. pr-pr-promise?"

"Yes. So hold our your arm and stay still okay?"

A tearful nod. Kaede hesitantly complied, rolling up her kimono sleeve. The nurse dabbed at the area with a cotton ball of alcohol. Then, came the needle and oh gooooood it was worse up close.

"Okay, you're doing good, Shirayuki. You're a good girl," the nurse said with a gentle and hushed voice. This probably isn't the first time she's given a shot to a frightened child.

"Now, close your eyes."

As he opened the rather calm hospital, he took a quite swig of juice box. With a tired-looking face he sighed, walking in. Though it seemed he was very tired, this was simply Kishiyo in the morning. He'd slept well, but he was just not an early bird.

But... he's a Jounin. Okay-- that really doesn't matter. He still hated getting up early.

It couldn't be helped. Kishiyo wanted to find out about this boy. This boy had no immediate family except his mother, but from his clan's records. He was Uchiha. Takeshi Uchiha. Kishiyo had also gathered through the elders that Takeshi was an outcast among his clan.

He wanted to spit on the elder for such a statement. It was simply disgusting how their pride blinded them.

His eyes glinted he sighed, getting a bit flustered. All these years he'd been in ANBU, they were going around making such careless decision. Apparantly this boy was caused childhood trau-- gah, it matters little.

The idea that bothered him the most... last night his mother was also known to be in there. Her body was indeed found... but according to the report.. she had been dead before the fire began.

Kiyoshi took another sip of his juice as he walked calmly through the halls, one hand in his pocket. The black eyes stopped at the front office. The lady smiled, noticing the famed Heir to the Sharingan.

"Kiyoshi-san? I'm amazed to see you here on your own free will. Last time they dragged you in here, your leg was hanging, not attached.". the lady blushed, smiling at the handsome man, reaching out to run a thumb over his chin.

The Uchiha smirked, closing his eyes. "Oh come on Shina, you know it's not like that-- I just hate needles is all. (O_o)", his eyes opening as he continued his joyful smirk. "I'm here to see a boy. Takeshi Uchiha.", Kishiyo paused, looking at the document. Yep, Takeshi Uchiha.

"Ahh. They just finished with him. Keep going for it will be a door to your right.", she stated, crossing her arms. He nodded, turning and starting a casual walk. He sipped the last of his drink and threw the box in a can nearby. Kiyoshi walked into the room, leaning on the doorway, watching the boy, his lazy looking demeanor unchanged.

It was quaint, how human people could be. (He's referring to how Takeshi was burned. )

He examined the boy's wounds and walked closer. So he was the supposed trash of his nobility. He hardly thought the Uchiha would've cared if this failure would've died.

"Takeshi Uchiha...", he repeated, his voice trailing off...

EDIT: This takes place in an alternate time frame.

Takeshi seemed to be in a trance once he woke up. An unbroken self-paralysis. His body ached enough, but they had put him on some serious pain medication, so that shouldn't have bothered him. It was something else. Even in his dreams all night, even while he was unconscious, the only thought that hung in his mind was the image of his mother hanging by a rope from the ceiling fan in here room. Dead. It crushed Takeshi. The one remnant that kept Takeshi attached to this earth was gone. If he died right now in that hospital bed, who would remember him? Who would care? He now had no living relatives, and his own clan would not claim him. He did no even bear the clan's name anymore. Takeshi had once thought highly of Kaede, but he had spent so little time to meet her, would she remember him? Yarotai was too much of an ***hole to care for Takeshi, unless he wanted to pick up women at his funeral. Wait, there would be no women, because no one would remember him. He had also met Tairu and another kid he believed was named Rhaim, but again their connections were too brief for the two boys to care for an outcast like him.

But who did that leave? No one. For the first time in his life, Takeshi was truly alone, in a world were most hated and shunned him. He had nothing to tie him down anymore. Takeshi reexamined the question that he had put in front of himself. "If I died, right now, in this hospital bed, would there be no one to mourn me? Would no one miss me? A I truly alone?" These were the thoughts that echoed through Takeshi's mind all night, even from last night when the medic ninjas were healing him. It was a broken record, skipping over the same scratch in the disc. And every time he found his answer, he began to cry, though mostly not while he was conscious. More like in the forest where he cried without any other action. He did not open his eyes, he did not utter a sound. His eyes simply watered uncontrollably, nothing more. This happened several times during the night, as when he reached his answer, and finished crying, the small amount of his sanity brought him back. It was his Uchiha pride that kept him from ending all, as when he completed his cycle of wallowing, his Uchiha pride kept screaming back at him, "No! That can't be true! There has to be someone that cares for me! I know it!" And so he would repeat the cycle of analysis, conclusion, despair, and denial, several times that night, and conveniently, when the newcomer came to see Takeshi.

It was a bit past dawn when the Uchiha came. Takeshi had been conscious for an hour or so, but his self-paralysis kept him in a sleep-like state, his eyes closed, his breathing slow and easy. The monitor beside his bed kept a steady rhythm, signaling the medic checking on Takeshi that he would be okay, and that Takeshi would eventually make a full recovery. It was the Uchiha's arrival that brought him out of his self-paralysis. He had reached the end of his crying phase when the Uchiha entered the room. For some reason, it was this presence that broke his paralysis and caused him to open his eyes and survey the room.

Takeshi found himself in a hospital bed, and most of his body had been bandaged, with several healing tags still attached. His left arm was in a brace, which was in turn held by in a sling. He got a good look at his room without moving his head. It was only his eyes that moved back and forth in his head, which after seeing the room, eventually settled on Kishiyo. He had no aggression against the Uchiha, it was simply the way his face had settled while healing that made him look like he was upset or angry. Trying to move anything right now seemed very painful. But Takeshi would not let himself become a vegetable, an slave to his pain. Takeshi opened his mouth enough to ask, "Who are you?" with a somewhat dull and monotone tone.

Kishiyo crossed his arms and looked down, thinking as the boy looked about. He wasn't so sure this was good...

He was in so much pain. It would be troublesome to get the boy worked up by asking him to recall his events. Certainly they were of the same clan-- however Takeshi didn't seem to enjoy his Uchiha lineage living in the outskirts of the compound. He'd also never heard of the boy before this moment. Kishiyo moved his hand through his long hair, fastening the bow that was holding up a portion of his hair to his back. With a sigh he walked closer to the boy, dragging a nearby chair with him.

Sitting down with the back of the chair against his chest, he rested his forearms on the top. Then he rested his chin on his arms and looked at the boy with his usual half-open eyes. Kishiyo looked very serene as he examined the boy a bit more.

"My name is Kishiyo. It's a pleasure Takeshi-kun. You should try not to burn your house down so often. I'm not sure that it's very likely I'll be around once more.", Kishiyo finished, purposely leaving out his Uchiha lineage.

EDIT: The following takes place in an alternate time frame.

Takeshi watched as Kishiyo pulled up a chair and introduced himself. It puzzled him that the newcomer knew his name. But then he mentioned the fire, and the brief moment were Takeshi wasn't thinking about his mother's death ended. He grunted as he pushed himself up to sitting and then let hi arms go limp and lay on his lap. He let his head hang down, hair blocking Kishiyo from seeing his face. "... I don't know what happened... I was so distraught, and then I got so tired, like all my chakra had left me. And then everything started catching on fire... it all happened so fast..." Takeshi looked down into his lap, as if searching for answers, but there was nothing there except his own two hands.

Takeshi brought his head up to meet Kishiyo and gave him a good look over. From his garb, Takeshi could tell that he was a Chunnin or possibly a Jounin, from the green vest he wore. His eyes scanned the newcomer to and eventually came to rest at a partially visible insignia on Kishiyo's. Upon finding the symbol, Takeshi's eyes opened wide as he came across a red and white circle on the man's sleeve. He was an Uchiha.

Takeshi's entire body immediately tensed up, and he stared intensely at the symbol. "An Uchiha?! Why is he here? Has the Uchiha clan decided to finish off my branch?!" His mind buzzed at the thought that Kishiyo could be an assassin sent to finish him off. Takeshi brought his eyes back up to Kishiyo's and stared intensely into them, as if trying to look past his exterior and find out who he really was. "Who are you?" Takeshi asked in a cracking voice, this time intending to get the truth from Kishiyo. His eyes were filled with anger, sadness, and fear.

Kiyoshi's calm demeanor remain unchanged. Any expert shinobi could read another's body language. He sighed, looking at his sleeve."I was hoping I wouldn't alert you.. but.. this fan gets me in all sorts of trouble...", Kiyoshi continued, patting his symbol as he smiled. He loved it though. He would never choose to be born in another clan. They may be prideful.. they may have their own flaws..but they showed him love. They gave him training and understood when even he messed up. The Uchiha would die for Konoha just like any decent clan. They were powerful, they were brilliant...

Of course Takeshi was never truly given a reason to be proud of his last name. Finally Kiyoshi moved his face to his palms, looking for a good way to start. He rubbed his face, trying to fight off the morning blues and finally looked at the boy, clearing his throat.

"Indeed I am of the Uchiha. They chose me to be the Heir to the Sharingan.", he replied, deciding to simply go with the truth...

"Do not be worried Takeshi-kun. I'm not here to hurt you if that's what you're worried about~.", he started, his voice as soft as ever, raising his hand, waving almost."You should start by telling me why you're so afraid...", he questioned, raising a brow and leaning forward. He had an idea why, but Kiyoshi couldn't assume anything. This boy was burned very badly, he was suffering from mental trauma. Takeshi wasn't going to be his normal self. He had to take this one at a time...

"I am not afraid of anything, I can't. I have to be strong for my family..." his voice trailed off as he realized that he no longer had any family left to be strong for. Takeshi looked away from Kishiyo, out of the window. His eyes were red from crying and anger. No longer were they filled with any trace of sadness or fear, but were now engorged with resentment, aggression, and depression. "Your clan left my family to die, generations ago. Our branch was disgraced by the main Uchiha clan, yet they practice the same customs today. No longer do the Uchiha clan hold themselves to the same purebred standards as they held before, and yet my family has begged to be reunited with the clan. The disgrace they brought on my family has almost extinguished our branch. It’s a miracle that we survived this long, but now it is over. I am the only member left of the Sasaki family.” Takeshi turned back to face Kishiyo with intense anger, but with his remarkable perception, Kishiyo should have been able to see the desperation a depression behind Takeshi’s eyes. They bore the stress and labor of keeping a family out of poverty. They bore the social discrimination of all of Konoha and the exile of struggling family. The emotion that was behind Takeshi’s eyes could have made anyone fall to their knees and beg for forgiveness, if only they could see. “I do not bear the name Uchiha, because it has stripped of my family, along with all ties to the main clan. Your people left us to die, and over the years this has become accomplished.”

Takeshi pulled his head away from Kishiyo, and again let it hang above his lap. He was in pain, beyond the medication that hospital had supplied him with. Takeshi had trouble with keeping himself up for extended periods of time. He found himself panting for air, and with every breath his lungs burned from the smoke he had breathed in the night before. Takeshi could only express so much anger before the pain, physical and emotional, overtook him. Takeshi slowly lowered himself back into his bed so that he could lay back down and relax. He tilted his head back to Kishiyo, and with the most serious eyes, asked him, “So why are you here, Kishiyo Uchiha? You claim that you are not here to harm me, but I want the truth. Has the clan sent you to finally finish off my family?” The Uchiha seemed to be telling the truth, but he had just met this man for the first time, after his house burned down. He was having trouble trying to put together anything that wasn't involved with his mother's death. Takeshi held the nurse remote in his hand, hidden underneath his sheets, just in case Takeshi had guessed correctly and this Uchiha had come to kill him.

Kiyoshi calmly watched the boy as he talked. Takeshi seemed to be in distress-- not because of the pain, but rather the loss of his family. He held a disgraced name-- yet he seemed to find pride in it. Takeshi was strong, his will was great. He wasn't a genius-- but he had this pride. Yes-- it wasn't those familiar eyes or the Uchiha look, but rather that Uchiha pride he'd come to know so well. The Heir watched the boy trying to put up a tough front and rested his chin on his hands on the chair and simply watched.

Yes, it all made sense, just as he had deduced earlier. The reason he didn't know the boy's name was because he was an outcast. This must also be why Takeshi didn't know about the Crimson Wolf. His mother was dead... the body found. So he was alone. Kiyoshi continued to nod as the boy released the anger inside him. How tragic. If he got this boy, he was really going to show him what horror was...

He snickered, completely unsympathetic.

Finally Takeshi asked the same question. This wasn't getting him anywhere. He sighed and closed his eyes, standing up. "I see you're still a child.", Kiyoshi noted in a very serious manner, his dark eyes glinting. He smiled slowly. "Had the Uchiha wanted to end your name, they wouldn't be wasting my time. Someone saved your life and he happened to carry the Uchiha name. I wish you well~", he finished, raising two fingers as to wave goodbye. He moved his hands to his pockets and slowly began to walk away.

EDIT: The following takes place in an alternate time frame. Note: Takeshi has leveled up, so technically he is back to full health. However, I will keep him in the hospital for a bit longer

Takeshi saw the Uchiha get up and head towards the door, and while he was looking forward to getting so rest alone with his thoughts, a part of him saw the answers he was seeking in Kiyoshi. "Wait!" Takeshi said lifting himself back up to sitting. He even tried to lift his right arm, but he was only able to get it so far before the pain became too great. "Kiyoshi, you were the one to save me, weren't you?" Takeshi couldn't have been sure, but while he was unconscious, he thought that he had heard the same voice as Kiyoshi, and that someone had called him Kiyoshi. Takeshi also seemed to be genuinely regretful of being so rude to the Uchiha, since it was not him that had banished his family. Takeshi wanted to have a more extensive talk with this man. Maybe he could some answers to his questions about the Uchiha clan, and he really needed something right now, anything.

(Sorry for no elabortations. On phone. )

Kiyoshi stopped, his posture still slack and cool as he listened to the boy. He didn't really sympathize with people who lost loved ones. It wasn't his problem. It wasn't so much that he was cruel, but he felt people with such despair for loved ones were very selfish and unthoughtful. Especially shinobi. Their job was taking lives. They killed for their ideals, but had these children ever been taught exactly who they were killing? Did they realize that they were killing other shinobi who also fought for their own ideals? When Kiyoshi killed, he killed children, husbands, daughters, cousins, mothers, fathers....

It was all the same to the Heir. He fought for his own ideals. But he wouldn't show hatrd and sorrow because he lost his friends, now that would be a hypocrite...

Alas, he was only human, and he missed and loved his Nara brother. Kiyoshi turned and sat down, crossing his arms. "Now that you're thinking straight.. go ahead."

Alas Takeshi was still a child...

Takeshi thought long and hard about his choice of words. This man seemed to be easily displeased, so he would have to tread lightly. Takeshi lowered his head back towards his lap, but this time in thought instead of depression. The gears in his head began to spin, in a way that they had not ever before. It was like his near-death experience had triggered a sudden boost in intelligence, like his Uchiha lineage had awakened something deep within Takeshi. As he thought about the recent events that had transpired, he found it easier to process them and put sense to what had happened.

Takeshi thought for a moment as to find where he would pick up the conversation. It seemed that a good place to begin would be to explain how he knew it was Kiyoshi that saved him. When he did speak, he lifted his head back up to meet Kiyoshi. "I... I don't know if it was really you. I think I heard your voice when I was taken to the hospital. I don't know how I heard you... I thought I was out for sure..." Now Takeshi was lost. The gears in his head slowed to a stop as he didn't know where to continue the conversation. Only one thought had come to mind, and the last time he asked, Kiyoshi had got up and almost left. But it was the only option he had. "Kiyoshi, why are you here?"

Kiyoshi watched as the boy struggles to communicate. The Jounin watches and finally bites his thumb as he asks the question. Well, in all truth, he had simply come to see the boy, because he'd never seen him before. He tried to know all the Uchiha, but-- well-- he didn't know Takeshi. The only thing that spiked his curiosity had been answered a moment ago. So now.. Takeshi wanted his answer.

Should Kiyoshi tell him how he was on his potential roster? Maybe~ The Uchiha simply looked to the ceiling and nibbled on his thumb some more. "Uchiha boy~ I just wanted to make sure you were alright. That and it's possible... it's possible that you might end up on my team. Team Crimson Wolf.", finished the Uchiha, nodding with a smile and giving him a thumbs-up. "It's quite a coincident I met you, isn't it?", Kiyoshi said rhetorically, still smirking.

Of course he'd met the little Kaede earlier. Goodness, waht were the chances? Not high, but then, this village wasn't huge. He'd simply not been around in a good while...

EDIT: The following takes place in an alternate time frame.

Takeshi didn't know how to react to Kiyoshi's statement of being in his squad. Honestly, he didn't know the Uchiha well enough to make anything out of the thought. On one hand, he hated the main Uchiha clan for exiling his family and putting them through so much suffering. But then again, it wasn't his generation that had exiled Takeshi's family. It had been generations since the Sasaki family had last swallowed their pride and begged the Uchiha clan to take them back, only to be shot down. In the recent fifty years, the Sasaki family had stopped bothering to beg the Uchiha clan to take them back just to get shot down, and had accepted their exile.

Still, it was exciting that such an experienced ninja would be his cell leader. He had not heard much of the name Crimson Wolf, but what he had heard of that name were incredible stories, stories that he thought had to be false, only rumors to inspire younglings. But now seeing the man who held the title of the Crimson Wolf sit before him, it now seemed that this man was of incredible power. So Takeshi allowed a small smile to Kiyoshi and said, "Cool." He didn't want to linger on the current subject much longer, since it put him in such an awkward position to respond, so he decided to lead the current conversation in a new direction. "Once I get out of here, can you teach me the Goukakyo no Jutsu?" This time Takeshi allowed himself a bigger smile, as to ease any tension that could linger from changing the subject so abruptly.

Takeshi looked back to his lap again, as another troubling thought entered his mind. It was of his mother, and how she would be handled with matters burial-wise. His father had a special place among the shinobi burial grounds, but his mother had nowhere to go. Normally, the shinobi were buried in the special burial grounds, and the civilians were buried in their clans burial grounds. It was a rare thing for one to not have anywhere to be buried. He, as the only living member of the Sasaki clan, would be the one to handle her burial, and he didn't want her to end up in a random, unmarked grave. She deserved better than that. He had to swallow his pride again, for the remainder of the Sasaki clan. "My mother... she has nowhere to go..." He picked his head back up, again, to meet Kiyoshi. This time his eyes were filled with all seriousness. "From the stories I have heard of the Crimson Wolf, you must stand high with the elders of your... our clan. Can you ask them, on behalf of the remaining Sasaki clan, if they will allow my mother to be buried in the Uchiha burial grounds. She..." he said, and lowered his head back down in sadness. "She deserves better than this."

Kiyoshi's eyebrows raised a bit. He wanted to learn that technique. He smiled and closed his eyes once more. Being an Uchiha, he learned that little technique quite a long time ago...

'Now now son, you're using way too much chakra to just cause the combustion', he remembered. His uncle would repeat that line so much. Kiyoshi always have a problem controlling chakra, it took him till his ANBU days to control his chakra well. He had too-- or he'd have never perfected his Broken Howl. Kiyoshi sighed, he'd burned himself so many times trying to learn the Fireball technique.

"That jutsu-- I belieive I learned that at eight--yes.", he looked up, thinking out loud, making sure he wasn't wrong. The heir looked back as the man continued to talk, ahh, more serious matters. "Your mother? Sure. I'll do what I can. She atleast deserves a proper burial for the mistakes of the Uchiha.", he nodded, understanding. "As for your Katon, we can get started soon, when you're better.", he trailed off, tapping his chin, making sure he wasn't busy anytime soon.
