Selyna

PostPosted: Sat Jan 19, 2008 7:58 am

Opting not to eat, Selyna removed herself from the fire when Danaiss had come back, and recoiled when he’d offered her food. Retreating to a nearby tree, she climbed it quickly and much more gracefully than any human would’ve done. Morphing into a cat, she curled into a crook between the trunk and branch, still able to see into the cave and fell into a restless sleep. She was sure how she felt about any of them at just this moment, but she knew getting them to safety would be best. Now that Kaori was awake and the sisters were back, they traveled at a slower pace to accommodate Kaori and to make sure the sisters weren’t pushing themselves to hard. Over those few days of travel, Selyna made sure to use her nose to stay as far from settlements as possible until they reached their destination, keeping an ear open for fresh running water and predators looking to attack the group, the deer had been more than sufficient for them at least for a short time and wild animals would smell the animal and try to score a meal for themselves. Sleeping away from the camp became her norm and any conversations about what Selyna would do once they got to her home town would be abruptly ended either by her going to scout for water or by her saying they should keep a steady pace and she’d go off and begin their trek again. Their travels were pretty uneventful for the most part and they came to the gates of the valley finally. Not thinking their pursuers would have been able to get here before them, Selyna indicated the city and began running ahead to see if there were any hotels of shelters they could take refuge in for the night, thinking a nice night’s sleep would be good for everyone.

Danaiss heard Kaori's words just before falling asleep. But he did not answer anything. *At least she does not hate me like the others.*

The travel seemed long to Danaiss. He did not know how to come closer to this group which was much more similar to him than any other group of beings. He made some pitiful attempts to get closer to Selyna but hitting a wall would have produced the same effect. He was a little discouraged but tried his best to use some of his healing magic to help them. Sometimes when they knew it and sometimes during their sleep he was playing with a little ball of energy to help them all sleep better. But none of them were aware of it.
He was a little envious of the tender relationship that he could feel between Abel and Kaori or of the strong bond between the two sisters.
When they arrived in view of the city, he stopped. Although he had seen the city a couple of time, he was always impressed. *So wonderful...so cold* he whispered softly.
He saw Selyna running alone to the city, no one from the group seemed to follow her. He raised an eye brow. *This is not really safe for her to go by herself. Should I go with her or wait?* he was pondering.

Shifting back to his anthro form, Abel moved forward to take a piece of meat, chewing it thoughtfully. Eventually he shifted back to the wolf form and slept with the rest, as soon as he was sure Danaiss was sleeping. He slept soundly, his body renewing its energy.

The next day as they were approaching the city, Abel was back to his human form, walking beside Kaori, still worried about her. Though this was something he wouldnt voice. He watched Selyna until Danaiss' voice distracted him. He turned to look at him, and nodded a bit, then noticed his inner battle within the stranger. He wasnt sure what he'd do if Danaiss followed her. But she was alone, he'd protect her, as much as she distrusted him.

Kaori had fallen asleep not long after eating, her strength and energy renewing themselves. By the time that she woke up the next morning, the only indication that she had wiped herself out at all was the bags that lingered under her eyes. As they traveled, the young witch kept up with the others fairly easily, though there were occasions where she was forced to slow down her own pace because of fatigue.

She tried to get the others to trust each other even just a little bit more. She was not very successful, but still, she had hopes. The rest of the time she ddicated herself to watching the younger girls. Their silence worried her, their silence and the haunted look in their eyes.

Despite all of this, and the fact that they were on the run for heir lives, Kaori could not help but be amazed at everything around her. In all of her twenty one years, the woman had never left her little town. It was to be expected, then, that when she caught sight of the city at the base of the valley, she stopped and stared in wonder. It was much larger than she had thought, even though she had been told that it was a large city. When Selyna ran off, it took Danaiss speaking up to even realize what had happened.

Demetrius stood still and unseen, his eyes scanning and rescanning the distant valley for any signs of the accursed. He stood slightly left of the main road that lead into the city gate, and so far none had entered or left. On either side of the gaping whole of the wall stood four city guards. Each was nervous and tense, it was obvious in their stance and their expressions. It was evident that none had ever had any real combat experience before. But that was fine, they would make marvelous shields. Soon the real fighting force would arrive and all Demetrius and Reno would need do is step back and watch. The Templars would do all the work for them. They would do all the fighting and ,of course, all the dying.

Metal boots struck the road behind Demetrius and he turned and gazed through his invisable cloak at the newcomer. A look of momentary confusion crossed his face. Only one Templar? The Inquisitor shook his bald head and turned back to the road. Of course she would not be the only one to come. Most likly she had been sent in case anything arose before the main force came. Soon Demetrius was once more taking in the hills, the Templar forgotten.

Reno to moved unseen, his lithe body sliding effortlessly through the morning crowds, neither his cloak nor his body touching another human. He moved unseen and unknown through the city. He soon stood before the city gates, his eyes to glancing down the road. His face pressed a bit when he saw nothing. He wasn't ready to think he might have been wrong, but the possibility that he had over estimated the speed with which his foes would be moving occurred to him. Reno shrugged his shoulders and gazed around. A sneer toyed with the corners of his lips as with disapproval he discovered only on Templar ahd arrived.

"seems the Templars are no longer the force they once were." He cursed under his breath and pulled the hood back, his red locks suddenly visible to the guards behind him. The members of the city watch all gave small curses of shock and took steps back from the floating head. Reno swung his head around, his eye gazing at all of them, filling them all with terror. He gazed at them for a moment more and then spat, his saliva striking the earth hard.

"Ha!" Mused the Inquisitor. "Some city watch." With this, Reno turned his head around once more and approached the Templar. "I see we meet once more."

Azimeana was quite amused when she saw the scared faces of the guards in front of the red hair head sticking out of nowhere.
When the Inquisitor addressed her, Azimeana bent in front of him *twice in a day...this is starting being too much* she thought, but her face stayed still, totally emotionless.
"So it seems, Sir." she said politely. "I was asked to help you in any way you need me to. I fear that I might be the only Templar joining you, as no one but I is currently in the City. In what aspect may I be useful, Sir?" after a pause she added "And how may I address you?"

Mercy gripped her stomach as it growled and in turn sighed. It seemed like it had been days since she had eaten and was starving. She passed by a near shop keeper and kept her hood pulled. It had seemed in her travels that this town was one to avoid. Though since it was on her way and she didn't think anoyone would notice she was a vampire she decided to merely stay hidden. She looked human enough when she didn't bare her fangs (a bad habit she often did)

"Excuse me Sir." She went up to him and tapped on his shoudler. As he turned she took a deep breath and screamed. "Fiend! Do not touch me!" She smirked as people gathered around curious of the on goings.

Ducking quickly before anyone saw her face she walked over to a near table and snatched a peice of bread from it. As she sauntered away from the questioning stares she came upon a big building she only assumed to be a church. Often she visited with her clan though since their seperation she shyed away from humans. not out of fear but for respect being as she was already dead she had always felt that this was their world and she was just living in it.

Puling her hair out of her hood she swung it as it reached her ankles. Grining again at the commotion she seemed to be causeing just as she simply walked down the road she un-hitched her cloak showing off her legs. Giggleing one last time she ducked under a door she hoped would be a tavern.

Danaiss was about to follow Selyna when he caugth a familiar and hated smell. Due to the high amount of population in the city he could not tell where the scent was coming from. But the more he smelled it, the more it was sure *There is at least one vampire in this city.*

Just the thought of it, made him freeze and shiver. The soul of the vampire in him started being agitated. Danaiss knew that his capability to "detect" vampires was not coming from himself but from the Spirit. He breathed slowly and concentrated.
*I will have to be focused all the time. This city is far more dangerous than I thought.* he said to himself. *One more reason not to let Selyna leave alone."

"Selyna!" he shouted in the direction of the catlike woman. "Wait!!!"

Selyna

PostPosted: Wed Jan 23, 2008 7:00 am

It was unclear even to Selyna whether she was really running to the city or from her party, but either way she was nearly at the city before she saw the guards by the gate. Slightly frightened that this city would too have issues with her kind, she shrugged it off as she looked human enough to not really have to worry about it, but wondered what they’d think of her ragamuffin party storming into the city. Slowing down, she began to walk quickly towards the city, but at a slow enough pace she wouldn’t be questioned to much. Hearing Danaiss call out to her made the hair on the back of her neck stand on end, and she focused her eyes more on the guards, only now noticing what seemed to be a woman and a floating head. The call out to her appeared to have caught the attention of one of the guards, or at least they glanced over the hill just as she was coming over the top. Selyna hesitated, not knowing if she should turn back or keep going forward at this point, so she looked to her left side, hands flexing at her sides, looked back at the gate and took off in a full on sprint. Not only was she frightened, but she was in far better condition to run from their attackers and Selyna felt she could draw them far enough off of her party that they could once again take cover in the forest, hoping they’d take her flight as a signal that something was amiss. Eyes darting back and forth for any kind of cover or weapon, she wondered after a short time if this was even necessary, perhaps they wouldn’t even pay her and her crew any attention, but figured better safe than sorry. After some much traveling, she wasn’t at her best and would soon tire, coming to a stop somewhere and leaning against a tree to regain her strength.

During their travel towards the city, Taria's wounds eventually healed and Talia began to speak a little more at least. The haunted look faded somewhat from her eyes, but she completely shut down if anyone even looked as if they were going to ask what had happened and Taria growled at anyone who seemed to be making Talia even the slightest bit uncomfortable.

The older girl hovered protectively over her sister at all times, yet it was clear that unresolved issues continued to lie between them, interfering in their former closeness. Talia could not seem to bear looking at Taria, yet Taria could not seem to help hovering over Talia, a look of guilty anguish on her own features every time Talia flinched or looked away from her.

Even as Talia started to open up more and more to the group, Taria started speaking less and less.

When finally they arrived at the city, the sisters thought nothing of how Selyna ran towards the gates, she'd been running off a lot lately. What did surprise them though, was Danaiss' call to wait. The urgency in his voice could not be doubted and Talia immediately looked around for some sort of threat as Taria scented the breeze for the same thing.

Abel narrowed his gray eyes on Danaiss, "Yeah, Vampire. What of it?" He could smell it. He couldnt tell gender, though. Not from that kind of distance. Whoever it was wouldnt appear as vampiric, since they had made it into the city. "Another ally." Abel stated his view on the other nonhuman, though he could sense Danaiss' distrust. It irritated him. Why would he have distrust towards another nonhuman? It was distrust put into the wrong place in Abel's point of view. That distrust should be for the humans that were doing their damnedest to clear them out.

A deep snarl emitted from Abel. "Danaiss" He said aloud as a warning. He would protect her. "Leave her be" He wasnt sure what her reasoning was for taking flight as she had. But he was sure she had one. And secondly, he didnt trust him around her, maybe for the mere reason she didnt trust him. But then again, he appeared to have made a few mistakes about him and his trustworthyness, and the half-demon was sure he wouldnt make them again.

Azimeana was waiting for the Inquisitor to answer, when she saw in the distance, running from the forest a human shape which was moving far too smoothly to be human. Without waiting for the Inquisitor she reached for a sword, which glowed with the sun during a second. She turned to the red hair man. "Sir? It seems that your guests arrived. What should we do?" She was ready to fight and hated having to wait for orders. Nevertheless she did not move. Staring as the cat like creature approached the gates and noticed a group stopped at the entrance of the forest.

-----
Danaiss heard Abel and his eyes darkened. He was about to answer to the wolf when a glint of light coming from the gates caught his eyes. "A holy sword" he hissed in his lips. He noticed the woman who was holding it, his eyes narrowed. "It cannot be!" Although it was very smooth, he was certain that the woman had vampire blood but how could she be a Templar!? But what was worrying him, was that he could scent more vampire than this woman, which meant another one was around.
Although she hated him, there was no way he would let Selyna been killed or captured, especially by a church vampire. He ran in her direction. "Selyna!!!"

“Stay your blade, Templar.” Reno hissed, the sun light glinting offthe polished balde. “Fool!” Growled Reno, turning to gaze across the field, managing to catch a brief glimpse of the fleeing figure before the hills blocked her from view. “Always so quick to action your kind.” Snapped Reno, not even looking at the Templar as he fumed. “The plan was for the fools to eneter the city gates and then spring the trap, but due to your eagerness and impatience, the anathema seem to be aware that something lies in wait for them. How marvelous!” Reno spat and took a few steps away from the Templar, his mind filled with variations of plans all meant to figure out a way to salvage the situation.

“Templar.” Reno snarled, rolling the word over like a disgusting morsel of food as he covered his head in his hood. “ I have deduced a task that might be simple enough for you to complete competently. Since you seem so eager to be of use, then perhaps you can yet redeem yourself and make up for your blatant stupidity. The task I would have you do is simple and surly easy enough for you to do without trouble. Take the reaming guards and flank from the right, skirting the wood’s edge. It is possible more of the anathema hid and wait for the scout’s report. Go and discover what you can.” Without another word, Reno was gone, running across the field, his boots crushing the grass as he rushed across the hills and plains that laye before the city.

Even before the strange figure had fled, Demetrius was already moving from his position on the nearby hill. At first Demetrius had assumed nothing particularly odd about the figure; but now as drew near, he felt his hackles beginning to rise. The creature’s speed was far superior to that of a mortal‘s capability, and Demetrius was doing the best within his human capabilities to keep up with the anathema that darted across the plain, oblivious of the invisible figure that raced behind her. The wind swept across the hills, tossing the tall grass into swirling masses of dancing stalks and Demetrius smiled, knowing his passage would be unseen. The Inquisitor wasn’t worried about loosing the prey that stood stark against the grasslands. The creature would be easy enough to track should it flee from eye sight.

But the need to track never came, and Demetrius slowed his chase as the creature came to rest beside a tree. The tall, dark man breathed heavily from the long chase and for a time, the dark man stood still, waiting for his breath to return. The wind swirled and tossed as thunderheads drew up on the horizon, the smell of cold rain heavy upon the wind. The stalks of grass now spun around in a dizzying manner as Demetrius began his slowly prowl, his blades sliding free of their scabbards.

The Inquisitor moved slowly and deliberately, making sure to keep himself down wind of the creature. It was most certainly an anathema, the creature’s anatomy revealed this. The tall man licked his lips and felt the thrill of the hunt flowing through him. This was just like when he had been a boy, and stalked the jungles for food. Demetrius long for a spear and the ability to hunt this creature at his leisure. But that was not possible. He now hunted for the Church, not for his tribe, and he must remove this blight from the earth. Demetrius drew near and paused, his hand slowly pulling out a vile of toxin and letting the black ooze coat his blades like tar. One drop into the blood, that’s all Demetrius would need. The tall man hunched over and began to close the last few feet between his target and his blades

Azimeana did not make any comment at the Inquisitor. She nodded and with a sign to a group of six guards, left the gate entrance. She stayed within the wall of the city, knowing another smaller gate a little to the right, where she could reach closer to the group without being seen. While running, her mind was boiling up
If you had given me orders in time, Inquisitor, this would have never happened... You can blame yourself for what is happening. You are so proud!
With a quick move, she stopped the guards, turning to them, her grey eyes as cold as her blade, she hissed: "Be discrete, if any of you is noticed by the group, I'll kill him myself. Understood?" Her voice was kept low but her tone was blistering. No one voiced any disagreement.
She pushed the little door, which was half hidden behind some bushes, and staying in the shadows of the walls, she reached the first trees of the forest, followed by the guards.
From there she could see another Inquisitor, close to what seemed a cat-like woman.
So you are not alone, my dear Inquisitor.
The other inquisitor had a far darker skin, which surprised Azimeana.
Strange...
She also noticed another one of the anathema group, running towards the creature and the inquisitor.
Fool, you will regret that but she did no move in his direction, instead getting closer to the group who was standing at the forest border.

Danaiss saw that one of the Inquisitors was following Selyna, a blade prepared in his hands.
He lay low in the tall bushes, trying to hide.
Screaming would be pointless...and I cannot attack him...I would not stand long against him...
Raging of his uselessness he watched the predator getting closer to his prey...

Selyna

PostPosted: Thu Jan 31, 2008 11:54 am

Panting slightly, more from fear than from the run, Selyna sniffed at the air, the smell of rain coming closer. Taking a deep breath of it to relax, she hoped the rain would cover the tracks of her and her… colleagues. Over those last few days she’d become increasingly distant and now she was regretting that decision, wishing she could’ve stayed with them and at least known they were alright. Turning her head quickly to where she’d just come from, Selyna was almost certain she’d heard the crunch of grass. Taking a fight or flight stance, she strained to hear and kept her eyes darting all around, but was unable to see anyone or anything and the strong smell of rain dampened her ability to sniff anything out. Relaxing her stance a bit as she laughed off her paranoia, she wrote off the sound as some animal she’d disturbed when she’d come through restarting its hunt for food. Presently she began to look around, walking a short distance aimlessly here and there, trying to decide where to go from here; if she went back it was possible to run into the attackers, but if she continued away from the group it was less likely she could find them again. Sighing, she shivered a bit as a cold chill went down her spine and she turned again in the direction she’d come from, ready to swear she’d again heard the faintest of sounds, but again brushed it off. Running her fingers back through her hair slowly, facing away from where she’d come, unbeknownst to her that her attacker was a mere few feet away, she cocked her head to the left side, looking at the expanse of land in front of her wondering which way was the best to head off in.
