My winter break started last week, and lasts a full month. Oh the joys of college. whee I have done a whole lot of nothing though. Only working, a little reading, and frantically finishing Christmas gifts. I had the brilliant idea to make a some people gifts this year, so far I have managed to finish knitting one of the two scarves I am making, start the second, and start one of the two hats I wanted to make. Then there is the stool I am painting for roomies birthday, which is tomorrow, that I didnt start until yesterday... sweatdrop
and I am awful at ice skating. I am too off balance...

That's nice. Making gifts instead of buying them. I would, but I can't sew or anything like that! I hurt myself even when sewing... sweatdrop

"I am not very good with sewing either. I can do quick hems, and sew on buttons but that is about the extent of it. *Sigh* I wish I could do more. However, making the gifts is a good idea Miss Fawcett."
"I must say that the dueling club looks really good, I would like to give it a try, I went to go and check out the pitch and Quidditch tryouts have already started. I would love to be on the Ravenclaw's team, but philbert is having us answer questions about the rules. Some of the rules confuse me a bit. However, I will give it my best and pm him with the answers, unless you guys are willing to help me out. IS that even possible???"

@Ari: Oww...(ice skating) And I can't sew either. I used to be able to, but I don't know if I still can. Even when I used to be able to, I always had to have someone else do the first two rows. (I could never start it.)
@Miss Fawcett: Lucky you. Oh well, only a couple more years... Making gifts instead of buying them is a very nice thing to do. Good luck. I hope you get them all done on time.
@Princess: Good luck with the tryouts.

The Quidditch rules confuzzle me...I think I'd be more of a liability, so I'm pretty much going to stay away from the pitch! smile

Same here.
So...to turn the discussion in a completely different direction, what are your favourite subjects in school (in RL and HP)?

In real life, I'd have to say English and History. I love reading and writing, so that works out for me. I like learning about things in the past, and I love writing. Well, of course I can't forget Creative Writing, but I include that in English. In HP, probably Transfiguration and Potions. And in this guild, I think I'll like the Wizard Creative Writing Class the most...How about you?

In RL, math and chemistry. Math has always been my favorite. It just makes so much sense to me. I don't really have to think about it that much. It just...clicks. I don't really know how to describe it. On the other hand, English and History are the opposite for me. The only part of History I like is learning about ancient civilizations. In English, I like the reading. I HATE writing (although I always do quite well).
In this guild, probably DADA, Potions, Charms, or Transfigurtion. Wow, I just kind of covered all of my bases there, didn't I? Well, I guess I'll find out soon enough which one I like best.

Weird, Math would probably be my least favorite...I'm good at it, I understand everything, I just hate it anyway. 3nodding

As far as sewing goes, I'm pretty talented (not to toot my own horn or anything). I freehand clothing and costumes for myself and friends. It's fun. ^^
My favorite RL class is ecology, despite the fact my prof was a complete jerk. I'm a nature person, so I liked studying plants/animals and their interactions with their environment. As far as HP goes, I always figured I'd like Charms. I'd like to enchant objects into doing random things.

You get a MONTH of vacation? No fair! I'm just getting a week and about two days here. sad
My favorite classes: I like my English class, but that's mostly because my classmates amuse me. Poor teacher. It's still funny, though. I wanted to take Painting and Creative Writing, but my schedule got filled up with extra 'requirement' classes. No one should have to take three history classes in a single year. No one. I'm still rather unhappy with this school district for that one. I'm not sure what my favorite HP class would be. Too many essays for my liking, and all of them written with quill pens! Oh, and I don't think I'll be teaching the Writing class this term. I'm not sure I have the time for it, for one thing, and for another, if I did bring it back in I'd like to be able to iron a few things out first.

My favorite class in RL is band. I play the saxamaphone (tenor and alto, if that means anything to you whee ). In HP I like Herbology. The wizarding world has so many different plants. I also like astronomy. We're actually learning about it in school, now! 4laugh

"Thank you guys for your best wishes with the tryouts. I will be doing that sometime today. I played the piano, Marching French Horn (Mellophone), and Clarinet when I was in school. I absolutely loved Band class, it was my favorite class, in RL. I also liked science class--until I took Chemistry, I did not learn too much in High School Chemistry because all period the teacher would talk about Softball, since he was the girl's team coach! sad
In HP I think I would like Defense against the Dark Arts and Potions. Transfiguration would be cool too. I can hardly wait to sign up for classes.
