I think I love the landraider crusader with pyscannnon bolt upgrade, which I can fire still moving 12" and it's AP4, ignoring invulnerable saves. If I can put 2 squad of purgation squad with 4 pyscannon bolts each.....
It will be extremely expensive, but if it works..... (8 pyscannon , 2 pyscannon bolts from justicar, and 12 rerolling failed hit pyscannon hurricain bolter....)

A Purgation squad can actually take Psycannons, which always have three shots no matter what. Ergo a 4+Justicar purgation squad would have 12 Psycannon Shots as well, and then your Justicar would have 2 Str4 AP4 shots.

Would a pure Daemonhunter Grey Knight army be a good option for my first army? I like their versatility and how I can induct a different SM/IG units into my army for various different needs.
They just seem so versatile (if not costly) and I prefer working with a few strong units as opposed to alot of weak ones.

Yes, but those few, strong units will get bogged down and mauled.
You don't have to necessarily induct any Marines or Guard, just take plenty of Inquisitorial Storm Troopers.
Grey Knights are powerful, yes. The Aegis is one of the best special rules in the game, especially given that it applies to all Grey Knights, including Dreadnoughts and Tanks.
Inquisitors are incredibly handy too, though. And don't EVER take a list without an Assassin. They are far too handy to pass up.

Yeah, I was reading how the enemy has to make a roll just to see if they can see them and the usefulness of the Exitus rifle as anti-personal (since you pick which unit to remove) and anti-vehicle.
While they do fight against odds that are overwhelming they're stats are fairly good for it. I mean, they mostly have 2+ and 3+ saves and multiple special talents. If you're facing something that's swarming you can even use an orbital bombardment for 70-90 points.

Only problem with that: you can end up nuking yourself just as easily as your enemy. If you're against swarms, though, Psycannons are about the best that you can take. That and the fact that everything is carrying a Storm Bolter.

Psycannons against swarms? I beg the differ, incinerators are much better, as when they hit something, they hit it good. Sure, you have to be close to use them, but what's the problem with that? You still remove like... most of the unit, and use a basilisk or something from the IG list to blast the enemy apart frp, dostance. n_n
Facing nids: The AP and strength is high enough to take care of the swarms
Imps: Same
Orks: Same
Dark Eldar (yes they can swarm): Same
Kroot lists: Same
Daemons: Same
And a Daemonhunter player must be stupid or something if he ends up in his own orbital bombardment... It's not a long scatter range on it so... Yeah... He's be quite stupid if he walked into it with his units. o:

I had a friend that did it. Although...you may very well have a point Shinobi. He's not the brightest bulb on the tree.
Yes, Incinerators are very handy. Coupled with the WS5 and effective Str6 in combat with power weapons, they're kind of beastly.

Well my 10 men grey knights with two incernerators melt downed the swarm of 20 Ork boyz in 1 turn and I say incernarator is so far my best weapon I have in Greyknights. (Pyscannon? nah...)

So I'm fairly sure I'm going with Daemon Hunters, despite their high physical cost and in-game point cost.
Should I use both HQ choices? It seems that being able to re-roll among other talents and lead a team of Terminators would be useful. Plus Brother-Captain Stern [Purged by Inquisiton] isn't too shabby in combat himself. I'd arm all my Grey Knights with Storm Bolters and Nemesis Force weapons since I don't think the loss of a ballistic weapon can merit the thunder shield.
Out of all the assassins, the Vindicare Temple Assassin [Purged by Inquisition] seems to make the most sense with it's Exitus rifle. I already said it, but being able to pick the heavy weapons unit or commander out of the bunch is really useful.
I'd probably only use one dreadnought and the rest would be standard Grey Knights / Storm Troopers.
@ Shinobi
Isn't taking a Basilisk presenting a bit of a problem? You would have to baby-sit it with a couple of units to keep them safe, and at the high cost of Grey Knight units the plus of using the Basilisk template start to go decrease.

I saw that I wasn't allowed to post point value system specifics, but didn't know you can't post unit stats.
I can't believe Games Workshop wants me to pay 1200% mark-up for a model, buy the codex before I learn about the army, and follow a bunch of other silly things and still has such a uptight attitude towards discussing stuff.
