Lucifer Morningstar Inque Clay I think that's the biggest problem: it is too freaking cute. sweatdrop
As for suggestions for the Phoenix bit...well, you have the Koi in its natural enviroment, and I was going to suggest likewise for the bird, but besides the sky there's not much to go on. Actually that's a nice idea. You could use the swirl patterns of clouds, there's some really gorgeous stuff in the sky to be found in Japanese scrolls. It'd lend some punch to it without detracting from the bird itself, and you could stretch them out a little to make them fit with the line types.
I'd say for color scheme to just play in photoshop for a few hours painting with broad strokes. You can come up with some spectacularly weird but inspiring stuff that way. I'd set aside the design for a few days while I worked up one for my friend; a tribal design with roses (Rose being her middle name and favorite flower, natch) growing out of it to wrap around her left breast ( redface ). We're getting together tomorrow to discuss what I have so far and how to fit it to her. I guess we'll figure out the details of exactly how to do that tomorrow. @_@;; I don't usually like tribals because of the reputation they have for being generic and ill thought out, but I've treated this project as a chance to not be snooty and create something meaningful and worthwhile out of a style I don't much like. Besides, there has to be something going for this tribal stuff since the rest of my friend's current tattoos are very personal and quite classy looking. In fact, one of the first tattoos that I'll be applying once I'm ready will be a Darwyn Cooke Catwoman for her (due in no small part to our deciding that she practically is Catwoman and me buying her Selina's Big Score).
Aaaaaanyway, I've just gotten back to my tattoo tonight and I took the time to re-familiarize myself with just what a tiger lily looks like, and I must say that it was a goddamn awesome suggestion. They might not have some kind of deep significance to me, but they match the colour scheme and flow of the design, say nothing about being gorgeous flowers all around. I'll have a new sketch of that half soon! whee

Topicality? We don't need yer stinkin' topicality!

And the rough draft of my friend Kath's birthday picture.

Poi!
I just like saying "poi".
What's interesting about this picture is that it's a comprehensive list of things you shouldn't do when playing with Fire Poi.

Haven't posted in a while so I figured I'd put up something new... This is a bit of fanart I did of Choopie from Perhapanauts. I'm working on some more of Big and the others.

So, Just got my hands on World War Hulk #4. I have to say, I was expecting the fight to end differently. This is how I saw Hulk beating Strange: Now that I think about it, that's probably why I'm not a writer for Marvel... xp

Today on Masterstudio Theatre:
Boss: "We need new versions of the issue three pages." Me: "Ok, I'll put 'em up." Boss: "That's pages 22 and 23, right?" Me: "....what? I thought there were only 22 pages." Boss: "No there's 23." Me: "Are you sure, because I've been working on new versions of 21 and 22." Boss: "Really? I thought was added a page." Me: "No that was last issue." Boss: "Yeah but did it again. Or did we take away a page? " Me: "I thought we combined a page?" Boss: "I can't remember. Do you have a script?" Me: "No you've got it." Boss: "Hold on, let me call *Editor*" Editor: "Hey what's up?" Boss: "How many pages are in issue 3? Barb thinks it's 22, I think it's 23."" Editor: "Issue 3? ...I thought it was 21."
This started 18 minutes ago and kept going throughout, back and forth between the three of us as we found old versions of the script, emailed versions and were each proved right in turn. And then wrong. And right again. For the record, final count is in fact 23 and we still haven't found the hard copy of the final script. Just another day in the studio.

It's my Oni avatar with a giant tattoo gun strapped to his back. It'll be easier to figure out the details once it's coloured. xp
