At some point in her wanderings JadeOrchid found herself at a lake.
But she'd been following laughter, voices that seemed to lull her and calm her at the same time as piquing her interest. Now she was staring at this lovely lake and settling down by it, sitting comfortably. Instinct took over and she reached down to touch the water with just the tips of her fingers.

The quill goes in the ink and then on paper. Her hand scrawls on parchment over and over, seemingly endless. This repeats itself again and again. Every now and then the pattern is broken by music, where someone is practicing music. The temptation to join once again rears its head, but she can't. This has to be done.
The quill goes in the ink and then on paper.

Now, there was such a thing as being too full. But there was also being too empty. Knowing absolutely nothing of who you were, what you were, who you'd been, or even where you wanted to go was frightening. And something he still seemed to face on a daily basis.
Questions that were rather simple for others he found himself fumbling on even with his speech improvement from practice. Where was he from? Nowhere. Or perhaps somewhere, but... no one knew? He hadn't been able to find anyone with a GOOD solid answer to that question.
And being no one who just showed up one day was... a rather sad empty feeling. He wanted to belong somewhere. Even if he did belong at the school. Everyone else had another somewhere, right?

'Shake looked around as her eyes opened. She wasn't.. she wasn't in her own home. She was breathing. Her room was crammed. Where were her cats? She couldn't hear them.
She shifted herself out of the bed, and stood up. As she walked out the door, she entered a corridor. Where in the hell? She couldn't place a finger on it, but she felt a tinge of familiarity, and confusion.
This didn't make any sense.
She looked at her door. It said a room number, her room number, she assumed, and she blinked. Oh.
This was Deus.
Her confusion disappeared.

He'd come rather close to simply walking past the creature. Hadn't realized something else was residing in his borrowed room... though really, he should have suspected. Some of his--highly limited--belongings vanishing here and there. Others being moved this way and that--in retrospect, he realized they'd been moved to form paths. Easier access to other parts of the room. After a few weeks of barely noticing the strange happenings, he came face to face with the culprit. A vaisel stared back up at him, tucked away beneath some of the shirts he'd just thrown into the drawer. He would have turned, kept on moving, had it not made a tiny sound of protest to the sudden weight. With how he'd kept associating the strange disappearances and movements to his own actions he must have forgotten, the creature could have potentially remained in his room for a long period of time before he'd caught on.
It'd betrayed itself.
And so now he stood, looming over the piece of furniture, golden eyes staring into pale blue. Slowly, the vaisel began to move, slowly flicking its long, scaled tail enough that he could see the fur and scaled tip peaking out from the other side of his shirts. He merely watched it for a time, before reaching down to move the shirts, uncover the now hissing creature, and grabbing it by the scruff. It tried to catch him with its horns, wriggling this way and that to escape his hold. Neithan ignored the tiny thing, lifting it with ease as he began to cross the room.
And tossing the thing onto his bed. Snorting, he watched as the thing seemed confused for a moment, before curling up and laying down on the far softer material. The balrog in turn merely went back about his ways. Though he did make sure to bring back food for it later that day.

It was late, or.. maybe not? It was dark enough to see that it wasn't day time, but light enough to not be dark. Maybe this is what they called dusk? Either way, there's a tray in her hand with tea on it and quite a few cups. She's padding down a wooden hall way to a room where murmurs could be heard.
Pushing the door open with a black sleeve colored hand she opened the candle lit room to see several people. They looked familiar, felt so familiar.
"How kind of you! I was just about to go make tea! Now I don't have to!" an older sounding woman said, clapping her hands together. She was leaning lightly on an older man, smiles on their faces.
"It's no trouble..."

'Shake thought about days when she was a child. Her mom would take her to the park, and her dad would go with and buy them ice cream. She'd wear her giant sweater, that was seven sizes too big for her, and they'd run around in the grass, and have a grand day.
She thought about the times that weren't so amazing. Her first boyfriend. How he ripped her heart out of her chest when she found him with another man, not woman. She could have handled woman, but she had turned someone gay. She felt a tear run down her cheek.
Her memories turned into ones of school. She wasn't popular, but she was a damn good actor. She was also phenomenal at volleyball. She'd spend her afterschool hours in the gym playing. When she wasn't in a show that is.
Her memories weren't so bad.
It made them all feel somewhat.. nostalgic.

They were still trying to get him acclimated to the town. Trying being the key word there. He'd sooner grab one of those shiny, folded up maps stuck around the main room of the bureau, take to the skies, and learn the area himself.
He still had little concept of what they used for currency. Or why so many creeple seemed to prefer these strange, tight, un-breathing attire. He shifted uncomfortably in the trousers he wore--denim, one ghoul had told him as she'd handed him a very small assortment of simple clothing. While he was comfortable with how they lacked adornment, and the short-sleeved shirts--tee shirts? Something like that--were soft and very easy to move in... He still preferred looser, more comfortable trousers.
Apparently that wasn't in their budget.
Neithan shut his eyes, trying to block out the boil beside him. A new ghost, recently brought over--or so everyone was saying around them here and there. They were both trying to learn the ways of this town. All to join some academy. If it got him out of this place all the faster, he'd march into the main hall that instant and sign himself up.

Wishing was something he did a lot. He wished he knew who he was. He wished the rain would stop(it wasn't fun to be wet all the time). He wished that the voice made sense.
Because while he liked the idea of protecting others. He loved it. He didn't know how to accomplish it. He was one small, rather pathetic, little demon in the world trying so hard to save everyone. And he didn't quite know how he was even going to get that done.
So he really wished that the voice had explained itself better. Because apparently it was a good fit for him. But he couldn't, for the life of him, remember why.

Wake up in a room barely furnished. Stretch. Exercise. Get the blood moving through his veins. Dress in the strange, somewhat comfortable somewhat not clothing. Then...
Well. That was where his days took their various turns. Either he'd go find the provided food--basic meals, nothing overly fancy yet nothing he'd snub. Or perhaps he might spend time with the strange fur and scaled mini. Flying around town was another fine growing hobby of his. As was tending to his gear. He'd learned his belongings were worth a fair amount. Kept in good condition for their age, the goblin had said. Neithan had asked no more questions.
Asking too many made his head ache and his temper flare.

Normalcy is how you described something that happened all the time. Normalcy is how she would describe what was happening to her.
She would wake up, get washed and changed, have breakfast with everyone. She would chat a little, tease the younger girls and then head off to work. That was her normalcy.
Then the letter came that she was studying abroad. She did! She went to the boat, left her house, and her normalcy changed. She would get up, wash and change, have breakfast by herself. The joy of teasing and laughter was gone right now. Everyone was here to study. That was her life now. That was normal.
Then the trip ended when she got a letter in the mail that wasn't normal. Not normal at all.
Returning to her home, she found it was... gone. It was completely gone. There was nothing there for her but pain, fear, and hatred. She wouldn't ever half normalcy ever again.

A desk was always how he remembered his father. It seemed very odd, to have a desk and erudition underground, but their society had developed lights and methods of study nevertheless.
Always a stack of books on the desk, always small figures that moved and whistled. If he wasn't so good at blocking it all out, one could easily be stunned by the overstimulation.
"Yes?"
"Come, I have need of you for another task."

"Are you sure you have to go, my boy?" His father looked somewhat sad, but also happy. It was a strange mixed expression.
"I'm not dying," Lock replied shortly. Voodoo was nudging around his feet, swirling shadows around the twosome in a most bothersome sort of way.
"I know, I know. Your time with us is ending."
Lock pursed his lips and shrugged, "I'll be back. There's vacations and stuff ..."
His father chuckled, which sort of worried him, but Lock didn't think much of it. Just a son's worry.
"If you need ANYTHING just call us." His mother had been somewhat quiet, choosing to stand off to the side and wait her turn to say goodbye. "And remember to get your glasses renewed soon."
"Mom ..." A strange, thick irritation was growing within him, a sudden desire to be away from his parents. Was this what it felt like to move out of the house? Well, he technically still wasn't "out of the house."
The two parents smiled half-heartedly at him, his father moving to hug him first and then his mother secondly. Voodoo joined in and Lock frowned, nudging the cat backwards. Voodoo scowled, hopping onto his father's back and hugging them all despite Lock's wishes. "I'm going." He told them both abruptly, detaching from the hug and fighting every fiber in his body not to desummon Voodoo.
As he turned to go to his dorm, he realized his father was correct. It was the end.

"Why? You can just get rid of me and bring me back as you please. Why would it matter to me?
Lock sighed, exasperated with the way his familiar was acting. Weren't they supposed to be a team? Wasn't she supposed to be under his control? "You're right, I could, but I choose not to. It is a kindness-"
"It is a pity."
"Whatever it may be, I am asking for your cooperation."
Slinking out from behind the bed where sh'ed been hiding, Voodoo mirthfully said, "You lost that long ago."

She felt the distant scream of inside of her stomach and it churned unhappily, as if to whine at her. Food was her comfort, what she knew and what she treasured. Would she be able to survive? Every cupboard was empty and the house was locked up tight.
She was locked in a house with no food... and she was alone.
