Vane wrapped his hand around his heart and pulled, careful not to put too much pressure on the delicate organ. It made it hurt, even more than it had when it had been cut out, but it would be worth it. He needed it to be worth it, so that he himself might be worthy enough to move on to whatever happened next. All of his past experiences, all of his memories, every sharp stab of pain--all of it was just a means to an end. He would be sorry and sad to see them go.

Then again, he hoped as he offered his glowing, beating heart to the red crown, maybe he just wouldn't even notice. He could feel the memories escaping through the empty hole in his chest, and then he wasn't aware of anything at all.

Ralifa - Main Task Memories

Main Blessing 1

"Whoa careful there!" A strong hand grabbed Falair as she nearly slipped off the back of the mount.

Wide eyes filled with surprise as a she gave a startled squeak. Tiny legs kicking wildly as she hung in the air for a moment. "Papa!" Before she could say anything else she was placed back up on the large stallion between large burlap sacks.

"Hold on tightly now and try not to fall. It'll do either of us no good if you break your neck. Then I'd have to explain things to your mother." The older man scrunched his face lightly, dark tanned skin wrinkling around his eyes, His mount giving a snort as it flicked it's tail and plodded along on skeletal legs.

Falair leaned forward, gripping onto the horses' mane tightly, leaning her little body against the back of it's neck. "When do I get my own mount Papa? I wanna ride my own."

He laughed as he continued to lead his mount. "In time little one. You just need to do just a little bit more growing." But she didn't want to wait. She wanted to be big now.

Main Blessing 2

A pair of bare feet appeared in her field of vision. Falair had been kneeling over a large pile of dirt for what seemed like hours. She could easily get lost in just rooting around, exploring and finding what she could.

But these feet caught her attention immediately. She knew these feet. Looking up she smiled as a strong hand reached down and in turn she reached up slender fingers to grasp the hand. Pulled to her feet by strong arms she laughed at a joke he told.

Something about being a child of the dirt.

Main Blessing 3

Looking up from the space she had been working in the tent, Falair frowned lightly. Nothing seemed to be going right. She wasn't getting the results that she had wanted. And it was all getting so frustrating.

Her colleagues were getting a bit frustrated as well.

Why had they left this crucial part up to her? Didn't they know she was kind of a flop? Perhaps it was a test, to see if she could actually pull it off. Or maybe it was just something to make her feel bad about herself. And then one of them would come along and take over making her feel even more inept.

They were so cruel to her sometimes.

Main Blessing 4
Everything was gone. Darkness and fog had swallowed up the land. Her home. Her family. Everything ripped asunder. The rug pulled out from under her.

She had felt something was wrong while she was away. But it had been a challenge to return to this place. Now she stood on a grey, fog covered hill. Staring down at what this place was. Imagining in her mind's eye what it used to be. Now it was dead. They were all dead.

Was she the only one? The only one to survive? No, there had to be others. But who? Where?

Wrapping her arms around herself, Falair feel to her knees and sobbed. She had no clue what had happened to her beautiful home, or the other islands for that matter. But she felt a coldness sweep over her as the realization that she may be the only one of her family and friends left and it caused her to shiver between sobs.

Main Blessing 5

It hadn't been long that Falair soon found herself wandering after leaving. She roamed and searched, lost and alone. The young mare wasn't afraid but she was lovely and bored.

Today she happened upon a creature that seemed just as lost and alone as she was. Though perhaps not quite as bored. It had been a while since she had come across anything that was really alive, so what was this thing doing all the way out here? On it's own.

Well, there was one way to cure her boredom. And if the thing died well, at least it died for science.

Ganximei - Main Task + Sad Memory

Main Blessing 1
She had promised her new friend that she would give her hand standing lessons today. And she was super excited to get this started! Meixiang liked Leo and really hoped that they would become good friends over time. The Mare was one of few people that the ghoul could feel she could get close to.

When she arrived Leo was already there waiting for her. A wide smile spread across her lips. Glad that her new friend hadn't stood her up.

Main Blessing 2
The lights and sounds of the Scarecade filled all her senses. Meixiang had come to the Maul today to do a bit of shopping and had run into Alex who was working today, but lucky for her he was at the end of his shift.

Of course, it was time for a little DDD rematch. She had a great time the last time they had played but this time Alex was going to go down. The Jiang Shi was super serious this time.

It was all in good fun of course.

Main Blessing 3
Blind dates were odd.

Meixiang had honestly never been on a real actual date before now and now....now she was set up on a blind date for prom. She had no idea who or what was going to be her date, which had her a little bit nervous.

It wasn't until the dark skinned Horsewoman approached her that she realized she had been set up with one of them. From what she could make she was from Famine. Meixiang had spent no time on that island really, so she had no clue about them to be honest.

But she seemed friendly enough. Perhaps a bit more open to this idea of co-habitation than other Horsemen.

Main Blessing 4
Meixiang sat in her dorm room. Her various minipets roaming about, some sleeping on pillows or in random boxes. Goop was curled up around her neck like usual when she was here. His cold, slimy body barely registered on her attention meter.

The ghoul stared down at open hands laying in her lap. What was she doing? Could she actually go through with this anymore? She was beginning to have second thoughts about everything. About her choices. About...her. It felt like a lifetime since the last time they saw each other.

Maybe she was growing up and it had merely been a light hearted fancy.

Main Blessing 5
Her friends looked at her weird when she had told them. Told them about her and the Horsewoman's relationship. And now she wondered, wondered if she had become an initiate for her sake. To stay by her side.

Was it the right choice after all?

Meixiang wanted to help the Horsemen regain some sense of self reliance once more. To be more open to those of Halloween and vice versa. But from the way her friends looked at her she could tell there was silent judging behind their eyes. And perhaps some real concern.

Sad Memory
He turned to look at her. So much taller her father always made her feel like a little child when he was around. Not only his height, but his presence as well was overwhelming.

A sad smile came to his strong features as he placed a large hand against her cheek. Their visiting time was at an end and he needed to return home. Business and the clan always kept him busy. But she was glad that they had this bit of time together. That he had come to the fair and they had a bit of fun like they did when she was much younger.

"Don't be afraid to come home whenever you want. You are always welcome Little Plum and we always love you." Her lips trembled at his words and she rushed forward to wrap her arms around his waist. Burying her face into his stomach.

She missed them. Her parents. Everyone at the compound. Friends she had grown up with. Why had she come to this school honestly? It hurt too much whenever she thought of home. Part of her wanted to go back. To just pack everything up and go home. Never to come back.

((Main Blesssing 4/5))

She sat in a small but cozy dwelling, a cup of tea that had recently burned her tongue in front of her, discussing with the pale woman of conquest boys of all things. She had come here because Lifen was, as she had so titled herself, **** confident, but she was more then just that. She was a friend, and one that **** held a great amount of respect for, and especially for her wisdom. She knew just what to say, most of the time, and this was one of those moments when Shaheen sorely had needed some advice.

She had cut him out of her life. Shikoba. She had cut him out for many reasons, had done it because it was the best thing for her to do, but she still couldn't help but feel that maybe it had not been the best thing to do at all. Maybe it had been completely the wrong thing to do.

She missed him.

"Maybe you both need to really come clean with each other. You say that you do not wish to see him again, but then you say that he is a friend, present-tense meaning that you are unhappy with your decision."

She simply nodded in response.

"keep it as it should be, a friendship, if that is all he wants, unless it harms you, emotionally. If you must, beat it in to him that he means something you, possibly. I know you can do that."

Friends? Just friends?

"You are wise, Lifen. And I will consider what you have suggested." She finally responded, after sitting silent for a moment, almost sullenly while she mulled over what the other woman had to say on the matter. "Our friendship has always been a tenous thing, and for a long time I considered him to be more of a rival...."

She would, of course, take the woman's advice to heart....just when she would actually do so would remain a mystery for now.

Major Blessing 4

He couldn't move at all. He had woken up to find his self buried under multiple balls of purring fluff and he couldn't move enough to get them off. He had slept on his front the night before so unless the cat sprawled across his shoulders moved he couldn't get his arms in a good enough position to lift up. Then there was the cat sleeping on his lower back and the one sprawled across his legs at the knees. He couldn't even turn to the side thanks to the two cats framing him! At least it was warm surrounded by the felines.

[Sad Memory]

Titus released her and smacked her hand away as if she were filth. "Maybe I had a moment of mental relapse thinking I was doing you a favor. I realize now I would rather not waste my time. Who would want to be with you anyway?"

The feline reacted to the slap like one would being shocked by a socket, recoiling as fast as she possibly could. She wanted to crawl under her bed and die at those words. Retreat like a dog with its tail between its legs. For moments, the demoness was content with watching him walk right out that damn door. Right out of her life just like every man did. Her ears tucked closely against her head, hands pressed to her chest as if to keep her guts in from the proverbial gaping hole he'd just stabbed.

And then she lunged out and grabbed his arm. "You have something of mine." She forced out through the lump caught in her throat. "I want it back."

"What?" He demanded. "What the ******** do I have of yours?"

*** remained silent for a moment as she looked up into those frightening eyes, almost entirely losing the courage for what she was going to say. "My first kiss." She tried to sound demanding. It may or may not have sounded a little sad. She was a cripple trying to pose as a body builder by this point. "You took it. I want it back..." The ghoul tried to pinch the material of his clothing much like she had done at prom when the boil was kicking Shun around, tugging at it like a small child would.

"Grow up. No wonder you're so messed up in the head holding onto childish notions like 'first kisses'." Titus jerked his sleeve free from her grasp. "In this life there are no happy endings, ***."

[ proud ]

He had thought nothing of it as the ceremony ended and they were allowed to returned to their parents and loved ones, but when he saw the look on their faces he could feel a tug of pride enter his heart. It was their third high school graduation ceremony witnessed with their children but it didn't seem there was any less joy at all. The same happiness from one child to the next, seeing the diploma that they themselves never really received. It was infectious and his lips tugged into a wide smile as he held up the small folder that contained his accomplishment.

His older sister grinned, placing a lei around his neck, kissed his cheek and then punched him in the shoulder.

Major Blessing 5

He stared in horror at the man coming towards him with the sharp, shiny implement. He didn't want to be here, he REALLY didn't want to be here. But he had tried to escape, tried to plead and beg and cry his way out. Even tried to charm his way out of this mess but the man just shook his head with a chuckle and continue. "But I don't want my hair cut!"

Soft and white. Big, golden eyes.

She intrigued him far more than she should have, far more than any other creature in her position ever had before.

[Main Blessing 3]

Alone.

****** was utterly alone sitting in front of the heavy wooden door. It looked like she hadn't moved in days and the rug underneath her was worn. "Come back." A weary voice croaked from her cracked lips. Something was missing from her life, a big hole where everything had fallen apart.

A twitch from her small tail was the little movement she made and her stare was fixed, waiting for something - waiting for it to open and maybe he would be back in there before.

Hours passed and no movement. Exhausted, tired her eyes began to fade. Nothing was going to come back through the door. "Gotta... do." Two small words and she stood slowly. Shaking with anger roaring through her she glared at the door. The time for sadness was over.

She didn't quite know how to find what she was looking for. Should she ask someone? Sign up somewhere? This was all still new and strange, and no one had told her how to go about finding...

****** turned at the sound of a voice. "I-" she started to respond, only to stop and cast a quick glance around. He was talking to her, right? There wasn't really anyone else here, so he must be. She smiled at the other. "I suppose I do. I'm trying to find someone to have a quick spar with, but I don't really know where I should go to find someone as I haven't actually had a spar yet-"

((Main Blessing 5/5))

She was in pain. So much pain. It was hard to move, even more difficult to breathe. The center of her chest was on fire, the source of all of that pain, the place where the blade had been stabbed into her, plunged deep, lodged until all of it's distortion had leaked away from that crystal, through the blade, and into herself. It was like no pain she had ever experienced before, a million times worse then anything she had ever had to face.

And yet, when it had all been through, when she had regained consciousness and had been helped to her feet, all she could feel was this strange, overwhelming warmth in her belly, a tightness in her chest that made her shallow breath want to hitch in her throat.

The whispers were gone. The grey had subsided. It might have been a temporary fix, but any fix was an amazement, simply a miracle.

And he had done it all for her.

There were no words to describe how she felt at that moment, and nothing could even compare to how she felt moments later, when he tilted her face up towards his for a kiss, the first time she could remember in history that he had taken that first step instead of her, and she wondered at what it might mean for her, for them.

She had whispered words for him moments before then, words that had been muffled, so quiet and smothered that they were likely impossible to even hear, words that she wasn't sure when she could or ever would be able to make herself say again out loud, where he could actually hear them.

Three simple words that had sent a blush burning across her cheeks.

She loved him.

Minor Memory ~ Reproachful

His hands were on his hips and he was looking down at the small girl with a frown. "Janette! You could have been hurt!" He scolded gently. "Next time you need to get into the higher cabinets you need to ask for help!"

Marati made her choice, and if there was at least one thing she actually knew about it herself, it was that once she decided something, she was going to stick with it. Perhaps it was a leftover sense of blind devotion to the Goddesses, or perhaps it was actually a part of her character, but in the end the result was the same; she could not back down, would not back down, no matter what happened. Even as her sense of self unravelled and faded away, she could not bring herself to regret her choice. She knew what she was getting into, at least in part.

As she felt herself fade, she heard fragments of herself - or perhaps an old self - play faintly in the distance. If she focused, at least a little bit, she was sure she could actually see the scene before her eyes...

In the end, as it always happened, it didn't matter. She faded into obscurity anyway, strangely content.

"It certainly is warm," she agreed. The landscape was gorgeous in her mind. The sand, the sun, the ocean. No wonder people came down here on vacation!

---

****** gave a little sigh, and cast her eyes back towards the beach. Something caught her attention. "Hmm?" She took a few steps down the beach, her boots sinking into the sand.

Something else that seemed strange. A circle of holes in the sand. ****** had never seen anything like it. "Odd..." She crouched down for a closer look. "Sand crabs, maybe?" She thought crabs made holes in the sand.

A sudden urge came over her. She reached a hand out, and picked up a small, stray piece of driftwood. She then poked at the holes with the stick.
