He walks a little farther, letting go of what the fragments say. They don't make sense. He doesn't need to linger. He reaches out a hand and captures another one, adding to his collection.
Laughter fills his ears, dancing around him like the source is moving. Fight me, a girl says through the laughter, like she was asking for something fun, exciting. He frowns and lets that go too.

He snatches another fragment mere seconds after the last one fades away, beyond curious about them. This one seems almost silent for a moment before there's a sigh of relief and the same voice that told him to be calm earlier says, I'm back.
Back? Where had it gone? Feng frowns, but there nothing else to be learned. He decides not to touch any more of the lights. He's done for now.

The next glittering fragment wasn't so lucky, and Rumor snatched it out of the air with a gleeful trill. Clutching it proudly before holding it up for a closer examination.
Sounds hit her, or the memory of sounds. Laughter all around her, and the press of warm bodies. Happy, safe, and content.
She blinked, shocked, but delighted. She needed more.

Another fragment was pounced, and Rumor gave a delighted hum as she held the small shard to her chest, basking in the momentary wash of memory and happy feels that came with it. She didn't understand what they meant, or even what they were, but she liked it.

"Amati, nice to meet you!" Maiden yelped happily as he did a little shimmy in place and tucked the gem away for safekeeping."Well its indeed better than being out in the rain, chasing them down and getting hurt in the process." The rain was stinging and sharp and unbearable for some reason. It was not a treat to behold.
The gems were not at the best luster, the shadow figure finally noticed, checking in his own bag to look at them too, what once was beaming seemed tarnished, dull but still a beacon of something more than what the world seemed to have for them.
"Maybe we should take them back to the statue things, they looked like they needed the light." he pondered aloud, stroking his face with a free hand. "Who knows, maybe they will know why things keep happening every time we touch them."

Another dive, but this time she ended up colliding with another shadowy being and the fragment drifted away into the ruin. "Oh no!" She tried to scramble after it, but that only really served to further tangled her up with the figure she'd knocked over. Who, unfortunately, was only now really noticed. "Oh! Sorry. Um."
Much more carefully this time, Rumor untangled herself from the other girl and offered her a hand up. "Yeah, sorry. I got carried away. Are you alright?"

Something shiny pulled her attention and she made a move like she would sprint after it before pausing just long enough to look the other girl over, brush her off, and smile. Then she was gone, racing through the rubble towards the glittering fragment. "I'll get you!"

The fragment didn't listen. Instead it drifted up and out of reach to disappear around the crumbling remains of a building.

Thean awoke surrounded by crumbling buildings. Looking up at them, they seemed desolate and in ruin. Everything looked creepy with an air of foreign sadness. Thean stood up and began to amble through the city. The ground was littered with rubble and she didn't seem to see anything.
Suddenly, a light. What could it be? She darted forward and followed hoping to see what it was.
And it darted away from her. She ran after it.
