Oh, it's part of an "occupy gaia" campaign of sorts.
if you haven't noticed; it's become ridiculous how they've been re-releasing items and the new "exclusive" shop, as well as all of the inflation in the market place that's come as a result of all of these additions, sales, and rise in prices.
The Gaia cash isn't really an option anymore, it's everywhere, and all of the prices in the market place are obnoxiously high. So there's a campaign to boycott gaia cash and return gaia to the community it used to be, not this empire of games and money that it's become. If you click on the banner in Tor's signature you can learn more about it, and even join the petition, there are currently upwards of 600 people who have signed.
