The returning hits from the shade seemed even less effective today, Aurian thought. She'd barely felt a strike that would have knocked her over yesterday. She stared down at the ring on her hand. "So this is the difference between the work of a student and a master," she said to herself. Just another reason to want to learn more. It was easy to (mostly) evade the shade's leg as it kicked out at Aurian. Spinning away, she received the barest brush along her side, then she was behind the shade. Aurian gave a fierce grin. Calling on the FEAR within the sapphire, she drove her scythe into the creature's unprotected back. It was super effective! Aurian's HP: 28/30 Shade's HP: 8/20 Effectiveness: 2 gem effects Gems In Use gaia_diamond Diamond: Take 1 damage each turn instead of 5. Sapphire: Do not subtract 6 from your attack roll for three turns. 2/3 remaining.

The shade staggered backwards. Aurian darted to the side, barely avoiding being hit as the shade fell to the ground. It's long limbs flailed as it attempted to right itself. Aurian wasn't about to give it the opportunity. It was payback time for yesterday! With a lood whoop, Aurian leapt into the air, scythe raised. She slammed it down, gravity and her own weight driving it into the shade. The blade was buried where a Reaper's heart would lie. Vindictive, who Aurian? (Only when it came to battle.) She stood there, panting and proud. After she yanked her scythe free, the shade dissipated away, wisping into dark mist that fled back to the original container for the creatures. Once she had caught her breath, Aurian walked back to the jewelry case. "I wish I didn't have to give you up," she told the ring where it rested on her hand. But if she could hand over something made from her own sweat and hard work, she could give back something that had never been hers. The ring was tugged off and laid back in the case. Aurian sighed. "I can't believe this is over..." She stared around the classroom. This was her last time here. Aurian stopped by Ylaria and gave a deep bow. " Thank you very much for your instruction, ma'am!" Aurian's HP: 27/30 Shade's HP: -2/20 Effectiveness: 2 gem effects Gems In Use gaia_diamond Diamond: Take 1 damage each turn instead of 5. Sapphire: Do not subtract 6 from your attack roll for three turns. 1/3 remaining.

As much as Tess wanted to follow the Death Clan's cultures, she made the hairpin with a certain friend in mind. But seeing everyone else was sacrificing theirs, she felt... like she was obligated to sacrifice hers as well. With a deep sigh, she offered back the hairpin, "I am grateful for the opportunity the Clan of Death had given us. So I will be sacrificing mine." Nothing Yet Tess is sacrificing her hairpin. screen name: randonimity

A tiny bit frustrated over losing her gift for Lizzy, the winged ghoul opted to take on the additional homework. It would give her something to distract herself from the irritation. She took a hairpin with a larger diamond and sapphire, donned it, and went to face the shade. Distracted Tess was! She nearly missed hitting the shade with her wing altogether! Thankfully, the diamond's protection absorbed most of the shade's blow .

This time, she was better prepared. As the shade's initial strike hit, she opened her fist and swung upward, her palm colliding against the shade's jaw.

She felt something like a tap against her forehead, crimson eyes screwing shut more from instinct than pain. She lifted her lids to find the fist of the shade still pressed against her head rather than quickly putting distance between them. Tess' tongue suddenly darted out to wind tight around her opponent's neck, holding it in place as the sapphire's strength-enhancing properties boosted the power of backhand she delivered, effectively dissipating the shade.
Feeling much better about sacrificing her earlier hairpin, she returned the borrowed piece of jewelry with as much grace as she could muster and then left when dismissed.

((end of shade battle here)) Luidaeg listened to the instructor talk, nodding. He had barely managed to win his battle with the shade, and knew he would have been quickly and soundly trounced without the bracelet and its two gems. He ran loving fingers over it as he listened. It had been through so much with him, or so it seemed, in only a few short days, and felt almost a part of him. He could feel that the gems were all but drained, they'd be useless for battle in the future, but it didn't matter. They had given their all for him, and he was grateful to them. His breath caught in his throat when she said that they were being given the option to offer their jewelry in sacrifice to a priestess. On the one hand, it would be the respectful thing to do. On the other, if felt like giving up a valued partner once they had outlived their usefulness. He wasn't sure he could do it. He stood in line with the others, his mind in turmoil. However, when it was his turn, he had made his decision. He held the bracelet cupped in both hands, pressed to his heart. He bowed deeply, and when he straightened the bracelet remained clasped to him. "I apologize. After putting so much of myself into it, and then fighting together to defeat the shade yesterday, I feel it has become a part of me, and it feels wrong to part from it now, even for so noble a cause. I mean no disrespect, and it was a very difficult decision, but I feel this is the right path for me." With another bow, and feeling slightly guilty still, he moved away from the priestess and towards Ylaria. "Instructor?" he queried softly, unsure of his reception at this point. "I had a question the other day, but class ended and there was no time. Might I... ask it now?" Nothing Yet sn: sadisidhe Will be at work for the next few hours, will try to get back at lunch to reply, if you've had a chance by then <3

Julian walked into the classroom, sitting where he had the last few days. He was starting to think that maybe he should have taken that second week of class on the island of Death, he just needed to remind himself that he needed variety. Even if the Death Clan's lessons were very interesting and he wanted to learn more. Oh well. He hadn't worn the necklace he'd made today, had instead carried it to class. It didn't take much thought to decide that he was going to give it back the the Clan. He didn't really need the necklace, and while it might be interesting to have a reminder of the experience and the work he had done to make it, he felt it was better to pay tribute of a sort to both the Clan and those that had come before.
He walked to the front of the class with a number of his classmates, placing the silver, sapphire-bearing necklace onto the offering plate with a respectful bow of his head. That done, he turned to Ylaria, a small, grateful smile on his face. "I am glad to have been able to be in your class. Thank you," he said, bowing his head to her as well. He felt like he had learned a great deal and achieved some things he needed to get better in life. Whether he had or not, only time would tell, but that wouldn't change how he was thankful for having the opportunity.

This was it. Smiling softly, Amaunet walked into the room, Noticing the Priestess with the offering plate. It was the LAST day of class, and she had figured something like this had been...coming along. Gently holding the jewelry she'd made, the beautiful silver glinting in the light, and the small diamond twinkling, the ghoul figured that the best thing to do would be to offer the piece. Rolling the piece in her hand, she listened to what Ylaria had to say about the traditions here. She loved them. They somehow seemed to make more sense than anything to the ghoul, so when it came time to finally make the offering....She was ready.
Watching the rainbow flecks sparkle in the Diamond, she moved forwards, her eyes glowing brighter than they had the last two days, her breaths coming evenly. The silver rested on her dark-skinned fingers as she reached out, setting the thing on the plate. The bracelet seemed to fit there, Amaunet thought. Somehow it was just right that she had put it there. Bowing her head to both Ylaria and the Priestess respectively, the ghoul then turned, pride glowing in her undead heart. She'd done right by her own mind. Therefore, she was done for the day. She did not wish vengeance upon the shades of the day before...no...she was quite content with this. IT instilled a sense of....dignity in her. Bowing her head to Ylaria once more, her voice raised softly, "Thank you for this opportunity. It was an honor."

Adiyan was still a little mad with himself for not being able to kill that shade but he was grateful for Ylaria for intervening at yesterdays lesson as he fully well knew that he would fought until either of them were dead. Something that he tried not to do but sometime he just couldn't help himself as he was a Guardian and that just came with the territory of being a Guardian. Hearing all that Ylaria had told them as he pondered to what he was going to do as he really did want to keep his bracelet, but then if he did take it home even if he did hide it there was still a chance that it would be taken from him and he didn't want that at all. So he did decide that he would give it up for sacrifice as it was the only right thing to do. The Death Clan was being very kind to him and he should return the favor and he did think that he did have the knowledge to make another if he wanted later on. Walking up to Ylaria and the priestess. "Thank you Ylaria for yesterday and I want to give my bracelet up for sacrifice. Also thank you for the knowledge that you have given as it had been a great honor to learn from you," Adiyan said smiling as he put his bracelet on the offering plate and then he gave both of them a bow of respect as he would give any of the elder of his own clan for teaching as he was very grateful for the lessons and a better understanding of others outside of his own clans.

Draven sat and thought. He felt that he'd learned a lot in the past few days of class (and in the trials). It had certainly been interesting to play around with gems and their properties, and even more so to make his ring. A ring that he now had to decide the fate of. As much as he liked the ring, he also rather liked his hosts. The reverence of their clan was something that really spoke to the demon. Offering his ring felt...right. Almost a thank you, but also something more. He couldn't quite place it. Still, he knew what he wanted to do. So, with a calm reserve, Draven took his ring over to offer it. He gave a nod to their instructor, "Thank you." Next he turned and gave something like a bow to the priestess. Then he lightly placed his ring among the other offerings on the plate. Then he stepped away. He would miss that ring, but it would have a better home with the priestesses.

after being healed and settleing down at her seat She listened to what the teacher had to say. The next mission for the day was writher or not she wanted to keep the bracelet or not. She looked down on the bracelet and thought about what she wanted to do. She walked up to the teacher and gave a small bow. As much as I would like to keep the bracelet she thought it would better to offer it to the priestress. "I would like to offer my bracelet and hope in the future to come back and make many more" She really had fun making it and wished she could keep it with her for all times, just so she could look back at this day. sn: lovehina154

After the day she had Lumi had found herself a little hesitant to come back in to the class room. Standing near the back of the room she watched the other students offering up their jewellery. Twisting the silver ring over and over in her hands she looked up to see the priestess walking around the room. Off to the left of where she was she could see Julian from behind, slowly and carefully this time she walked down to him, "..uh...mind if I sit with you?"She had watched him give his necklace away and wondered if it would be best to give the ring back. It held memories of her time here, even if some of those memories she wished she could possibly forget. Eyeing the boxes on the wall she was not going to be trying that again any time soon. Still fidgeting with the ring in her hand she turned her attention back to him. Watching the Priestess come near her she bowed her head and said very softly, "I mean no disrespect when I ask if I can keep this...as a reminder. I...I told a friend that I wanted to keep it to remember my time and them."Holding tightly to the ring she lifted her hand to ask a question of the instructor. The final day had arrived and... Israfel was a bit sad really. He liked a good majority of the death clan. With their magic jewelry and their ceremonies and games and things. Well, they were not games per say but some things were rather fun! He liked them. He sort of wanted to do them again. But not all of them, some were very not fun. Like the mirrors. He wanted to avoid those. As Ylaria explained what they might do with their creations, Israfel pondered a bit at his choices. He thought the jewerly was really neat and he wanted to keep it. It was pretty and magical and it could help him kill the things that were not very nice. Which was good. Rolling his ring in his hand he watched the other students make their choices. The priestess up from he'd not seen before and really, he was timid to give up his creation. He liked it and wanted to keep it but- It sounded like they had a better purpose for it than just looking pretty. And really, he had a lot of rings at home. And other pretty things. Walking over, he looked the instructor. "So... you will use them to gather FEAR from those like my great great grandma? My cousin Selene?" Those from his birth flock that had vanished without a trace. nervously he shifted he weight back and both. "So you harvest their FEAR from being... dead dead now? It doesn't hurt them does it?"

Nothing Yet -Ev is giving the hairpin back. Sn=musicaloner7 Quite embarrassed from her failure from the day before, Ev entered the classroom for the last day a bit more hesitantly, and reserved than normal. She took her seat quietly, and sat neatly, training her eyes on their mentor respectively.
As she listened, her masked eyes darted over to the figure that entered the room, giving a small bow as well in reaction. She'd not met one of the priestesses yet so close up. Her parents would surely be delighted by the stories she had in store for them!
When the option was given, it didn't take the ghoul a second thought of what she was going to do with her hairpin. Looking down at it, she smiled lightly, before peeking towards West, in an extra silent grateful gesture for the additional gem. She also looked to Kettil, peeking only briefly to see what his decision would be before she stood and walked up to the two in front. Smiling lightly, and giving a little curtsy to them in greeting, she extended her hand holding the small pin, "Thank you for the wonderful experience. I hold a great respect for all that you do~ I am grateful to have been able to par take in such a admirable event." with that, her moth hairpin was handed over.
